Chapter 276: C178(2)
Kakashi's chakra reserves weren't particularly high—about the level of a standard Jōnin. However, for him, the Sharingan was a 'power-hungry' ability.
He had tried using it alongside the Hatake sword techniques. While it improved his insight, it drastically shortened the time he could maintain a sword fight.
If he continued down this path, he would eventually be forced to abandon the Hatake sword style and develop a combat approach suited for short, decisive engagements using the Sharingan.
Rin let out a relieved sigh. At least now, she didn't have to worry about the Uchiha clan causing trouble for Kakashi.
Ever since she returned to the village, she had heard rumors about certain members of the police force wanting to reclaim Kakashi's Sharingan. But now, she could rest easy.
"Thank you for the information, minister-sama," Rin said. "But I still want to find a way to fix Kakashi's left eye. If he can use it properly, his strength will definitely increase..."
Seeing her determination, Kain didn't say anything further. What Rin didn't seem to understand was that the Uchiha clan was naturally blessed with large chakra reserves. Aside from the Senju, few ninja clans could match them in chakra capacity.
Kakashi's problem wasn't that he couldn't deactivate the Sharingan normally, but that having the eye constantly active drained his chakra, often leaving him at a disadvantage during battle.
Nohara Rin was skilled in medical ninjutsu, but she had never studied cellular experiments, so solving Kakashi's Sharingan issue was beyond her abilities.
After Kushina came out, Rin bid farewell to Kain and took Kakashi inside the hospital. The Sharingan examination still required Yakushi Nono, as Rin had arranged beforehand.
Without her, some of the necessary medical equipment would be unusable.
"See? Everything's fine. Do you still think that Uzumaki Naruto was lying to you? He really did come back from the future," Kain remarked after reviewing Kushina's examination report.
Upon seeing the results, Kain quickly realized the issue wasn't with Kushina—it was his own fault. With three serums and four different genetic modifications, he couldn't be certain whether he was still capable of reproduction.
But more than a decade later, his son would grow up to be that big. There shouldn't be any problem. Kain had never doubted himself in this regard.
Kushina touched her flat stomach, still somewhat skeptical. "It doesn't make sense," she murmured.
"Then let's try a few more times. Even if the probability is just one in a thousand, as long as we do it a thousand times—" Kain said, eyeing Kushina's beautiful figure.
He felt there was still a lot of potential to explore. Her endurance was the best he had ever encountered. This fit, toned body, combined with her shy expressions, made it impossible for Kain to resist.
"No."

Orochimaru read through the application Jiraiya had submitted, then decisively rejected it and tossed it aside. If there had been no space on his desk, he might have thrown it straight into the trash.
"Why not? Orochimaru, are you targeting me?"
Jiraiya slammed his hands on the desk, his voice loud with frustration. "Do you even realize how important my mission is? I'm—"
"—Searching for the so-called Child of Destiny. But in reality, you spend most of your time playing around in the ninja world, gathering intelligence at less than half the efficiency of the Anbu. And yet you still want to lead missions?"
Orochimaru's voice remained indifferent as he continued processing documents. With every word, Jiraiya's confidence seemed to deflate.
"I couldn't control this before," Orochimaru went on, "but now that I'm Hokage, I have a responsibility to the village. The Land of Fire is still at war along the coast. Tsunade, lazy as she is, remains in Konoha and will return to the hospital when necessary. But you, Jiraiya—if you are a shinobi of Konoha, then follow the rules. Unless you intend to relinquish your title."
"But this concerns me personally—"
"Then it's not Konoha's mission. Don't mix personal matters with official business. If Mount Myōboku wants to search for their so-called Child of Destiny, they can submit a formal request to the mission department. I will consider it accordingly."
Orochimaru didn't look up at Jiraiya even once.
Sarutobi Hiruzen had left the Hokage Building's administrative work in complete disarray.
Orochimaru understood exactly what was happening—this was a subtle way to divide his attention, forcing him to spread himself thin. The gap in status and power could only be compensated for with such minor schemes.
Seeing that Orochimaru was determined not to budge, Jiraiya angrily snatched up the mission application form, turned around, and stormed out.
Just as he was leaving, Orochimaru suddenly spoke. "Jiraiya, if you want to leave the village, no one will stop you. But understand this—at that moment, I will consider you to have relinquished your status as a Konoha shinobi."
Jiraiya clenched his fists. "Orochimaru, you're going too far!"
Abandoning his identity as a Konoha ninja—wasn't that the same as being labeled a traitor?
But for Jiraiya, being confined to the village was worse than death. He was never meant to be tied down. And with no immediate way to deal with Kain, his only option was to focus on finding the Child of Destiny.
He had already planned his next steps. First, he would head to the Land of Rain. He wanted to take a closer look at Nagato.
The boy possessed the Rinnegan, and in Jiraiya's eyes, he seemed like the most likely candidate for the Child of Destiny.
Yet, all of his carefully laid plans had been crushed by Orochimaru, who now threatened to brand him a traitor if he left the village.
'Just as Sensei Sarutobi said… Orochimaru has changed a lot.'
With that final thought, Jiraiya ignored him and stormed out of the Hokage Building in anger.
