Chapter 275: C178(1)
"Is Tsunade-san not here? I still want to ask her to make it easier for me so that I don't have to queue up to get a number," Kushina complained.
She had rushed here early in the morning with great enthusiasm, only to find that too many people had come to see the doctor, forcing them to wait for a long time.
She wanted to check her physical condition. Kushina had recently confided in Mikoto that she really wanted a baby. However, despite being with Kain for so long, there had been no changes, which made her anxious.
Kushina and Mikoto had discussed this matter privately. Although Mikoto often reassured her that there was no need to rush, Kushina couldn't help but keep bringing it up.
In the end, Mikoto had no choice but to offer a few 'tips,' such as using pillows or undergoing certain body checks.
However, many of Mikoto's methods didn't seem suitable for Kushina. Just from the way Mikoto spoke about it, she would often end up feeling a little embarrassed herself.
"You should know Tsunade by now—drinking and skipping work are second nature to her. Unless you prepare a cabinet full of soju and a slot machine, don't expect her to stay at the hospital," Kain remarked.
Before he could finish speaking, he noticed Yakushi Nono coming down the stairs toward them.
"Kushina Jōnin, Kain-san, are you here for a medical examination today?"
Yakushi Nono adjusted her glasses, the glare from the lenses obscuring the expression in her eyes. She looked professional and composed.
Despite not wearing Konoha's standard medical attire, as Tsunade's student and the vice president of Konoha Hospital, no one would question her authority.
However, Kain felt a little guilty when he saw Nono's beautiful figure. After their last deep 'massage,' he hadn't visited her in a long time. The look she gave him just now, paired with her question, was clearly aimed at him.
"Yes, but it's just me," Kushina explained, showing Nono the registration number in her hand.
After glancing at it, Nono responded in a flat tone, "Understood. Please come with me, Kushina Jōnin. I'll conduct your examination."
"Wait... you're going to help me personally? Is that okay? But Konoha Hospital..." Kushina asked in surprise.
Although she hadn't specifically sought out Nono, she was well aware of her status as the hospital's vice president.
If Tsunade wasn't around, Nono was the one managing the entire facility. Would someone so busy really take time for something this small?
"There's nothing pressing to manage right now, and the other medical ninjas are occupied. I happen to be free. Come with me, Kushina Jōnin," Nono said before turning around and walking away.
Although still puzzled, Kushina saw how decisive Nono was and, after saying a quick word to Kain, immediately followed.
With Kushina gone, Kain remained at the entrance of Konoha Hospital.
There wasn't much to do at the moment.
The only thing on his mind was the Land of Water.
Even though he had established some connections with the Terumi clan, the increasingly tense situation in Kirigakure made it difficult to get information out.
"My lord?"
While Kain was lost in thought, a voice suddenly came from behind him. He turned around and saw Rin Nohara and Hatake Kakashi.
"It's you two. Are you here at Konoha Hospital for a checkup?"
Kain found it amusing to see Kakashi. The Hatake family wasn't lacking in money, yet Kakashi's name had appeared on the voting list. If he told Namikaze Minato about this, he might get to see a very interesting reaction.
However, Kain ultimately decided against it. After all, Hatake Sakumo was still alive, and Kakashi wasn't too lost in despair.
While he had grieved for a time over Obito's death, he seemed to have moved on, and there was still a sharpness in his eyes.
This father and son duo would make good subordinates in the future.
Nohara Rin greeted Kain with a smile and explained, "I brought Kakashi for an eye checkup. Nono-san happens to be free today."
Kain nodded. "Nono just took Kushina for a checkup, so it might take a while. But an eye examination should be no problem for you, Nohara Chūnin. Even though I don't stay in Konoha often, I've heard about the so-called 'genius medical girl.'"
"It's really not that exaggerated," Rin said, slightly embarrassed. "People are just flattering me. I still have a lot to learn."
Compared to Yakushi Nono and Lady Tsunade, she still had a long way to go, and the title felt undeserved.
"By the way, my lord, you're familiar with the Uchiha clan—"
Before Rin could finish her sentence, Kakashi interrupted, "Rin, there's no need to bring this up."
Rin frowned, unwilling to drop the subject. "But, minister-sama—"
"If it's about the Sharingan, I already spoke to Chief Fugaku. It's nothing to worry about," Kain interjected.
Both Kakashi and Rin looked at him in surprise.
"Non-Uchiha can't fully control the Sharingan. For ordinary ninjas, it might be helpful, but for true geniuses, the Sharingan can become a burden. Look at the entire Uchiha clan—very few of them surpass your father, Hatake Sakumo. That alone proves my point."
Hearing his father's name, Kakashi lowered his head, recalling what Sakumo had told him the previous night.
But Kain paid no mind to Kakashi's emotions and continued, "The Uchiha clan doesn't need to reclaim the Sharingan. If Hatake Kakashi has decided to waste his talent, so be it. Without the proper training methods of the Uchiha, outsiders will never use it to its full potential. Even Fugaku himself admitted that the true strength of the Sharingan lies in its original wielder."
