Marvel: Restart! Spiderman!

Chapter 87: Ch.87 Unfortunately, Spider-Man Fell for It Again

On top of a high-rise, Old Steve swung down using Charlie's web-shooter, skillfully adjusting the web settings to cast a wide net.

Zzzzzz-

Electro couldn't brake in time and slammed into the web, the blue skin on his body immediately sparking as the electricity stored in him flowed through the web and into the ground. His blue form began to dim slightly.

"What?" Max exclaimed in shock.

Seeing this, Old Steve shot out more webs.

"Charlie, the magnetized webbing works!"

"Magnetizing the webs isn't enough; you should also thank Dr. Banner for the help," Charlie replied.

"Roar!"

Yet another Leviathan crashed to the ground, and atop its spine, Hulk roared towards the sky, his fierce presence causing the Chitauri soldiers nearby to hesitate.

Old Steve shivered a bit at the sight. "I'll thank him personally if I ever get the chance!"

...

Meanwhile, Charlie held onto the glistening web in his hand, and the trap tightened instantly. Hydra Steve, caught in it, lost the use of his tentacles.

"Damn it, not this crap again."

His tentacles were cut into pieces, and Hydra Steve's face twisted in rage. Before his blood-red tendrils could regrow, Charlie launched himself from the web slingshot.

Boom!

He landed with his foot on Hydra Captain's head, his five fingers curled into a claw, thrusting them into his opponent's spine.

Splat!

"Argh!!"

Blood sprayed everywhere, a sight that shocked both Old Steve and Electro.

"He's this brutal even without going black?"

Electro used the opportunity to escape from the web—he needed to recharge.

However, Hydra Steve, with his spine pulled out, wore a victorious smile.

"Charlie Parker, you fell for it."

"What... Alright, I get it."

Charlie's spider-sense tingled with warning. The barbs on the spine had already pierced through the nanometal and into his skin.

A stabbing pain shot through his fingers, and his hand began to rot.

Spider-Man hadn't fallen to the same spine twice.

But he had still been tricked.

As weakness took over him, the shield in his hand fell to the ground.

Charlie's breathing became labored. He smiled. "Bucky rushed his self-destruct to lower my guard, and the barbs on his spine were transferred to your body. You bet that in battle, I wouldn't notice.

Alright, you succeeded. I'm about to lose my powers.

But before that, I want to know—who's your surgeon?"

"Hahaha, Charlie Parker, you've lost."

Hydra Steve ignored Charlie's babble. Grinning cruelly, he grabbed pieces of the nearby severed tentacle and stuffed them into his mouth to sustain himself.

"You no longer have the strength to kill me. So Hydra's power is still mine—I've won."

He bent down to pick up the black spine, intending to shove it back into the wound on his back right in front of Charlie.

He wanted to see Charlie's look of utter despair.

But sadly for him, Charlie didn't give him that satisfaction.

"Hey, you seem to have forgotten something."

Suddenly, Hydra Steve felt someone patting his shoulder, his expression immediately darkening.

He really had forgotten—there was someone else here.

Turning around, he saw Old Steve smiling kindly.

"Young man, your memory's worse than mine."

With that, Old Steve shot a web to grab the shield and swung it, severing Hydra Steve's arm. The black spine fell to the ground.

"Argh! Damn it, you should be helping me!" Hydra Steve howled in despair.

"You're right—I'll help end your suffering."

Old Steve used the shield to finish him off, then quickly rushed over to Charlie.

"You look pretty badly hurt."

Charlie was now slumped on the ground, his weakened body unable to continue with his plans. He looked pale and, glancing up at the flames in the sky, shook his head.

"Sure enough, it's all falling apart again."

"Gahaha, your fight was really something!"

At that moment, Norman arrived late to the scene, a smile hidden behind his mask.

From the corner, a large green lizard poked its head out and sneered.

"So it's our turn now, Spider-Man. You're done for."

"You guys are celebrating a bit early."

Old Steve stood to face them. A gentle breeze passed by, and suddenly, his muscles swelled, ripping through his uniform until he looked like a muscle-bound beast.

The dangerous aura intimidated the two, and Charlie was stunned.

At that moment, in Charlie's eyes, the old man's back seemed to glow with a holy light, giving him a sense of safety.

"Old man... Even at your age, you're still working out—such dedication." He gave Steve a thumbs up.

Old Steve smiled sideways. "I'm the man who survived two resurrection battles—your trustworthy friend."

"Friends are delicious.

Old friends are a pain to chew."

"What?"

The bizarre voice startled both of them, their expressions freezing.

Somehow, Venom, a black monstrous creature, had perched above them, disgusting mucus dripping down.

Charlie knew, even though Old Steve had strengthened himself through two resurrection matches, he was still no match for Venom Parker.

They couldn't win. Not at all.

Restart!

...

[You have been eliminated and did not obtain a resurrection spot. Reward: Original Web Mode +1]

[18 Restarts Remaining. Restart?]

Restart!

Second Resurrection Battle.

On the radio tower in the night, Charlie's wrist jerked, and the web fluid he shot out expanded several times over, the thick white strands as wide as a rope by the time they landed on the iron framework of the tower—ridiculously oversized.

Charlie: "?????"

It reminded him of a certain robot-wielding Spider-Man.

He tested out the properties of the rope-like webbing.

Hmm, no elasticity at all, barely sticky, but very sturdy—nearly impossible to break down. It was only useful as rope, not something he could swing with.

So, another mostly impractical web mode.

But with plenty of restarts left, he could afford to gather more web modes as long as he had confidence in passing this run.

Problem was, he didn't have that confidence.

He raised his hand, clicked his nanotech device, and entered the coordinates he'd recorded from the last resurrection battle.

Buzz-

A virtual map appeared with faint blue eyes. Charlie jumped from the building, following the coordinates to locate the participants.

Now, he had confidence.

Whoosh-

The wind roared as Charlie glided towards Electro's location, then dove into a nearby alley.

By a trash bin, Old Steve was rummaging for fabric to wrap his shield.

"Hey, old man, your retirement looks this bleak? I've got three dollars left, can treat you to some McMadonna."

"Charlie?"

Hearing the voice, Old Steve looked back, his face lighting up when he saw Charlie.

"Great, I get to team up with you again."

"Resurrection battle. I know what you're about to say next."

"Oh, I see, that's your superpower."

Old Steve stepped forward quickly. "But tell me—why should I eat at McMadonna?"

"You don't like hamburgers?"

"No, I only eat McDonald's burgers."

Old Steve's eyes were full of anticipation. "Tell me what we do next. I look forward to fighting alongside you for these 24 hours."

"Alright, I'm also looking forward to seeing those exaggerated muscles of yours."

With that, Charlie fired two webs, setting up a web slingshot.

"Get on, I'll take you flying."

Old Steve's eyes lit up. "I've been wanting to do this for ages."

He joined Charlie, pulling back on the web.

Launch!

Meanwhile, Norman stood on a rooftop, scanning the city below.

"Damn you, Charlie. Who would've thought you'd win last time. This time, don't let me find you, or I'll twist your head off!"

His face was twisted in anger as he unwrapped a lollipop, biting down on it aggressively as if that would relieve his frustration.

A crying little girl stood on the street nearby.

Suddenly, two shadows zipped across the rooftop.

"Who the hell stole my lollipop!!" Norman roared.

"It was me."

"No, it was us."
