Marvel: I can summon heroes from League of Legends

Chapter 51. Lightning-Fast Mission Completion

"I will destroy Jotunheim! I will prove that I alone am worthy to inherit the throne of Asgard!"

Loki's face twisted with fury, and gripping Gungnir, he prepared to insert it into the socket of the Bifrost Bridge's launch mechanism.

At that moment, a golden lightning bolt flashed behind Loki, and a lightning-shaped blade struck him in the side, immediately releasing a powerful surge of electricity.

"Ahhhh!!!"

Loki, caught off guard, shuddered from the sudden impact. Yellow lightning enveloped his entire body, causing him to tremble as bolts of electricity began to spark from the two horns on his helmet.

Clang!

When Noah withdrew the Statikk Shiv, Loki, smoking and with a dazed expression, collapsed to the ground. Gungnir fell from his hand.

"You talk too much; should've hit you harder so you'd understand that villains always lose because of their monologues," Noah said as he pulled the sword from Loki's side. Loki had nearly managed to activate the Bifrost Bridge. Fortunately, he talked too much; otherwise, Noah wouldn't have known if he could stop the bridge after activation. Better not to allow such uncertainties.

Just moments ago, Noah had used Flash to appear behind him and employed the Statikk Shiv to teach him a lesson.

"Well done, Sorcerer! You saved us. If it had been just a moment longer, Loki would have destroyed Jotunheim," Thor said, wiping the sweat from his brow. If Loki had managed to activate the Bifrost, Thor wouldn't have known how to prevent disaster. Destroy the bridge? But then he would never see Jane again. Fortunately, the Sorcerer proved strong enough to neutralize Loki.

"Sorcerer, how did you get there so quickly? I didn't even see you!" Thor approached Loki, removed his smoking horned helmet, and tossed it aside. Then he restrained Loki's arms behind his back and tied them tightly to prevent his escape. Having done this, he turned to Noah and asked. He had only just seen a flash of golden light behind Loki, and then Noah was there!

"I just flashed behind him. And by the way, Thor, stop calling me Sorcerer. Call me by my name. I don't think I introduced myself. I'm Noah Lee, a humble mage with a sword," he replied, though in truth, he was a mage who used his magic mainly to create magical weapons.

"Of course, I understand you flashed behind him, but... alright, Noah, I'll remember. Now you're a friend of Asgard. Take Noah to the guest room; I'll arrange a feast to properly welcome our friend from Midgard. Now, I must visit my father and mother. Oh, and don't forget to take Heimdall to the healer."

Saying this, Thor took Loki and flew to the palace. Meanwhile, several Asgardians had already freed Heimdall from his icy prison. Having been struck by the Casket of Ancient Winters twice in a row, he looked terrible—his face was pale, even bluish-purple.

"This looks serious; we need to get him to a healer right away," said Hogun, supporting Heimdall's arms with Fandral.

"No need to seek a healer; leave it to me," Noah interjected. Before anyone could ask questions, he extended his hand, and an emerald-green flow of energy enveloped Heimdall.

"Second Wind!"

"This... it feels so comforting," said Hogun and Fandral, who were also within the rune's range. Their bodies warmed, and fatigue began to fade. Heimdall, positioned between them, regained his normal complexion as the bluish tint vanished.

Almost immediately after the Second Wind dissipated, Heimdall opened his eyes and looked at Noah.

"Thank you, Mr. Noah," Heimdall said. With his unique abilities, he could sense what happened around him even in an unconscious state, so he immediately understood who saved him and thanked Noah.

"Amazing, Noah; I never expected to find someone like you in Midgard," said Volstagg, the portly warrior. His two companions also nodded approvingly. In their view, Midgard was populated by ordinary mortals, so Noah's presence was a surprise.

"For now, my powers are modest," Noah replied. His potential was vast, and he had many opportunities for growth ahead. But to those present, this sounded like humility.

"You're too modest, Noah. Come, the feast of Asgard awaits us. Believe me, our feasts are something special. Abundant food and drink..." Volstagg continued to talk about the celebrations in Asgard, and Noah nodded, though he was actually preoccupied with something else.

[Mission completed. Summoner receives 800 essence units.]

"Wow, 800 essence?!" Noah was surprised. This mission was easier than he expected. After stepping out of the Bifrost, he instantly moved and struck Loki in the side, thus completing the mission. Everything went so smoothly that he even thought the Bifrost Bridge might transform into Odin as the Destroyer, but receiving the reward, he realized it was indeed that simple.

"Now I have 6100 essence, enough for 10 consecutive summons," Noah thought, listening to the chatter of his companions and admiring Asgard's classic architecture. He wondered if the summoning location might affect his luck.

"Very interesting design," Lissandra's voice suddenly echoed. Noah was still in his battle armor.

Noah looked up and saw a squadron of Asgardian warriors flying by on airships. These ships resembled wooden boats with wings, as if they were sailing through the air.

"Yes, it is quite interesting," Noah agreed.

"What's interesting? Are you talking about the food? You don't have such dishes in Midgard, let me tell you…" Volstagg began.

Noah could no longer bear this glutton, but luckily, they soon arrived at Asgard's reception hall. Asgardian servants were already busy preparing the feast hall. They really worked fast: Thor had given the order just recently, and the hall was almost ready. Clearly, such events were held often here.

He entered the guest room prepared for him. The entire setting exuded medieval luxury, and the walls were adorned with traditional Asgardian murals depicting how Odin brought the nine realms to peace.

"I wonder, if I destroyed this painting, would there be another one behind it like in the third Thor movie?" Noah mused, recalling the events of the film where Hela shattered a wall to reveal another mural. But he quickly dismissed the idea, realizing this was just a guest room, not the throne room.

Noah walked across the room, stepping on the intricately patterned carpet. The armor on his body dissipated, transforming into a belt. Now he sat in a high-backed chair, headphones on his ears, which allowed him to communicate with Lissandra.

He opened the summoning interface, preparing to use his accumulated essence.

"Hmm?"

At that moment, he sensed an approaching mysterious presence and tensed, looking in its direction.

A ghostly figure emerged from the wall. Noah squinted, recognizing the visitor.

It was an old man with white hair and a beard, wearing a patch over his right eye—the king of Asgard himself, Odin.

"Greetings, King Odin. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Noah was surprised. Why had Odin come here? And why did he seem almost spectral?

After a closer examination, he realized that Odin had appeared in spirit form. His physical body was likely still in a state of slumber. This time, he hadn't interrupted his sleep to save Thor, so he must still be resting.

"Greetings, Noah of Midgard."

Odin's face, despite being in his spiritual form, remained stern, but there was a slight smile on it.

Odin had come to confirm something, which was why he appeared to Noah in spiritual form. The changes in the Destroyer were his doing. When Thor reclaimed Mjolnir, he used the powers stored within the hammer to activate Odin's energies within the Destroyer after their clash.

The reason he did this was that, upon sensing Noah's touch on Mjolnir, Odin realized that Noah's energy was unlike that of the Nine Realms or even this universe. It piqued his curiosity, and he decided to test him through the Destroyer.

Now, Odin stood before Noah.

"So, King Odin has come to see me on business?" Noah asked, looking at Odin.

"I sensed an unusual power within you, a power that seems not to belong to this world," Odin said calmly.

Noah understood that was why he had come. Just as expected from the old and wise king, who had seen so much.

"Are you referring to this?" Noah raised his hand, and magical energy glowed in his palm.

As Odin looked at the magical power in Noah's hand, he squinted his left eye. Indeed, he felt something foreign to this world in that energy.

He also sensed that this power emanated from some object within Noah. He felt a strong life force and a hint of creation, which reminded him of certain things.

"This power bears some resemblance to the power of the Infinity Stones."

He confirmed that Noah, the individual from Midgard, was indeed quite unusual. Now that he was a friend of Thor, it was a good sign. Perhaps, in the future, Noah could aid Asgard in an impending crisis.

Odin sensed his days were numbered. He was increasingly losing control over his powers and needed periodic slumber to stabilize them. He was truly aging.

Moreover, he foresaw a catastrophe looming over Asgard in the future. He wasn't sure if his son Thor could protect Asgard after his death and prevent Ragnarok. So, he had begun to prepare the ground for his son in advance, and Noah, this mysterious man from Midgard, seemed like a fitting candidate to help in the future.

However, Odin felt that Noah was still too young. By Asgardian standards, Noah was still a child. In the future, he would tell Thor about Ragnarok and leave it to him to decide what to do.

"Noah, by becoming Thor's friend, you also become a friend to Asgard. Enjoy the Asgardian feast," Odin said with a smile before disappearing.

Noah was bewildered. Why did Odin ask him a question and then leave, with words that sounded like a plea for help?

"Enigmatic old man, I don't like this," Noah thought. He always hated mysteries.

But for now, he decided to put it aside and return to his interrupted task—summoning.
