Marvel: I can summon heroes from League of Legends

Chapter 50. A New Mission

"Thor, I'll go with you. I've never been to Asgard before," Noah said suddenly.

"Sorcerer, you want to return to Asgard with us? No problem. After everything is over, I'll make sure you have a good time," Thor replied, granting Noah's request without hesitation.

One reason Noah wanted to go to Asgard was his long-standing desire to see it, but the main reason was that, after destroying the Destroyer, he reopened his task panel and saw that his B-level mission was finally completed. This meant that the enemy would not return.

[Mission Complete, Summoner gains 2,000 Essence and Champion Capsule x1]

"So much?! A full 2,000 Essence plus a Champion Capsule. Nice! That's a worthy reward for my efforts," Noah said, satisfied with the rich reward. The task had been extremely difficult. He'd thought he'd have to face the Destroyer from the movie, but it turned out there was a second phase. He was curious about who was behind it.

Noah now had 5,300 Essence, including this 2,000. Furthermore, a new B-level mission appeared on the task list.

[B-Level Mission: Prevent the Destruction of the Rainbow Bridge]

"What kind of mission is this?" Noah pondered. The mission was straightforward and clear. He remembered that, in the movie, after Thor defeated the Destroyer, he returned to Asgard and fought Loki from Odin's quarters to the Rainbow Bridge of Himinbjorg. Loki seized the opportunity to fully activate the bridge, intending to destroy Jotunheim. To stop Loki, Thor destroyed the bridge.

If the mission's goal was to prevent the destruction of the bridge, then he just needed to stop Loki in advance, right? But as he remembered, in the movie, Thor easily defeated the Destroyer, whereas, in reality, the battle had taken a long time. By that point, Loki could have already destroyed Jotunheim.

Wait, why should he care about Jotunheim? As long as the Rainbow Bridge remained intact, wouldn't the mission be completed? Still, he decided not to speculate further. He needed to go to Asgard to sort everything out. Without Thor's help, he couldn't get there on his own.

Following Thor, he went to the Rainbow Bridge marker, where it would be easiest for Heimdall to teleport them.

"Heimdall!" Thor called out while standing on the marker. With his magical sight that spanned across the Nine Realms, Heimdall could teleport them with the Rainbow Bridge if he could see them.

But as Thor prepared for the teleportation, he noticed the bridge wasn't coming.

"What's going on? Heimdall! Can you hear me, Heimdall?" Thor sensed something was wrong. Heimdall usually reacted faster. That meant something had happened on his end.

After calling Heimdall's name a few more times, finally, the sky started to change. Clouds swirled, and colorful lights flashed through them.

Thor breathed a sigh of relief. If Heimdall had really been in trouble, he wouldn't have known how to return to Asgard.

After saying goodbye to Jane with a farewell kiss, they were enveloped by the light of the Rainbow Bridge and disappeared into the marker.

The others, watching, were astonished.

Inside the Rainbow Bridge, Noah watched as an endless starry sky flashed before his eyes, feeling the wonder of this phenomenon.

The journey didn't last long. In a moment, they exited the Rainbow Bridge and immediately saw a frozen statue of a man. Thor recognized it as Heimdall right away.

Loki was standing near the Rainbow Bridge's control mechanism, holding Gungnir and sneering at the returning group.

"Dear brother, you're finally back. But you're too late. Now, I'll destroy Jotunheim to prove that I am the one worthy of being king!" Loki sneered viciously, gripping the Eternal Spear and preparing to activate the bridge.

To understand how this situation unfolded, let's rewind a bit. When Loki approached Heimdall with questions, their verbal exchange escalated into conflict, and Loki used the Casket of Ancient Winters to freeze him. Then he led Laufey, the king of the Frost Giants, to the royal palace of Asgard.

Heimdall, although powerful and wielding strong magic (which, while not shown in the film, could be assumed he used dark energy to control the Rainbow Bridge), managed to free himself from the ice rather quickly.

Once free, he turned his gaze to Earth and saw Thor and Noah fighting the altered Destroyer. The battle was fierce, with no quick end in sight. Then, he looked back at Loki and saw him bringing Laufey to Odin's chambers, where he lay in the Odinsleep. If Odin were attacked, he wouldn't be able to defend himself (according to Heimdall's thoughts).

"Loki! What is he planning?" Heimdall immediately rushed to the palace to stop him. Along the way, he used the patrol boat of the Asgardian soldiers to get there faster.

When Loki brought Laufey to Odin's quarters, he stayed outside, hiding. Laufey didn't notice this. His arch-enemy lay right in front of him, defenseless. He could not wait to take revenge.

Touching the door, Laufey froze it, shattering it into ice shards. He entered and threw aside Queen Frigga, who tried to resist. Then, he approached the sleeping Odin, opening his eyes to gaze upon his face.

"They say you hear and see everything around you even in your sleep. I hope it's true," Laufey stretched out his hand and created an ice dagger.

"Because then you'll know that it was Laufey who killed you... Argh!"

As soon as he raised the dagger, a laser beam struck him from behind, throwing him to the ground. Laufey groaned in pain, unable to rise.

The attacker was Loki, now standing with a face full of righteous anger, like a hero.

"And you will die by the hands of Odin's son, Loki," Loki coldly stared at Laufey. Though Laufey was his biological father, he felt no attachment to him. Loki despised his Frost Giant heritage and preferred to think of himself as Odin's son. By killing Laufey in front of Odin and Frigga, he wanted to prove his loyalty to them.

Loki raised Gungnir, and a beam of light struck Laufey, reducing him to ashes.

"Loki, you saved your father," Frigga embraced Loki.

Heimdall, speeding toward the palace, was shocked to see this scene. He didn't understand what Loki was planning. Bringing Laufey to Odin only to kill him?

Deciding to observe him, Heimdall stayed hidden to understand his true intentions.

After reassuring his mother, Loki headed to Himinbjorg to complete the final step of his plan.

Arriving at the bridge, he found that the spot where Heimdall had been frozen was now covered only with shards of ice. Heimdall himself was nowhere to be seen.

Scanning the area, Loki suddenly smirked.

"Heimdall, come out. I've already spotted you. I didn't expect you to follow me all the way."

Heimdall emerged from behind a pillar. Without hesitating to wonder if it was a trap, he saw Loki standing near the Rainbow Bridge's control mechanism and realized he was up to something sinister.

"Loki, what are you up to?"

"Up to?!" Loki sneered dismissively. "I am now the king of Asgard, and everything I do is for Asgard. I will destroy Jotunheim so that this enemy of Asgard disappears forever!"

"What?! Have you lost your mind? This will lead to chaos in all the Nine Realms! War will begin, and you'll become a sinner!"

Destroying one of the worlds would be a serious event. Seeing that Asgard, the ruler of the Nine Realms, suddenly destroyed Jotunheim, the other worlds would panic, fearing they might be next.

"I will stop you, Loki!" Heimdall gripped his sword tightly, fully intending to prevent mass destruction.

"And how do you plan to do that?"

Grasping his sword, Heimdall charged at Loki.

He was stronger and more resilient than most Asgardians, and a master swordsman. His magical eye gave him an enormous advantage in close combat, and Loki was clearly no match for him. Under his onslaught, Loki quickly began to retreat.

Heimdall, seizing the moment, knocked Gungnir out of Loki's hand. His sword thrust towards him, but just as it was about to strike, Loki suddenly disappeared. It was merely an illusory image!

Before he could process it, Heimdall felt danger behind him and immediately rolled, dodging a golden beam. Gungnir was a deadly weapon, and he couldn't afford to be struck.

Realizing how challenging it would be to deal with him, Loki stopped holding back. He pulled out the Casket of Ancient Winters, directing an icy beam at Heimdall, who dodged.

The blue beam struck the wall of Himinbjorg, freezing it. The cold began to spread across the entire wall.

"Your arm?!" Heimdall noticed Loki's hand, holding the Casket, starting to turn blue. This reminded him of the Frost Giants. Could Loki be a Frost Giant?! This thought flashed through his mind.

"Heimdall!"
At that moment, Heimdall heard someone calling his name. It was Thor's voice. Hearing his call, Heimdall got distracted, and Loki immediately took advantage of it, unleashing another ice beam. This time, Heimdall didn't manage to dodge.

The ice began spreading from his legs, moving up his body. He tried to break free but to no avail. Listening to Thor's call, he cast a glance at the Bifrost launch mechanism, and before he was completely frozen, he threw his sword, directing it toward where Thor was with the use of dark energy.

Seeing this, Loki's expression changed. He rushed to the Bifrost launch mechanism, but it was already too late. The entrance to the Bifrost Bridge glowed, and several figures emerged from it—Thor, Noah, and their companions.

"But you're too late, brother! I will destroy Jotunheim!" Loki prepared to plunge Gungnir into the launch mechanism.
