Chapter 100: Chapter 96. The Spells of Kamar-Taj

"Whether Thanos comes or not, it will become clear soon enough. Either way, I'll deal with him, so there's nothing to worry about."

During this time, Noah continued his training in the hall. Five days had already passed since he returned from Kamar-Taj with a pile of ancient books. The day after he read the book, he went back to the New York Sanctum Sanctorum and asked the masters guarding it to open a portal to Kamar-Taj. There, the Ancient One began to teach him magic. Having received the Sling Ring, he also learned to connect with the Vishanti and draw upon their powers.

At first, Noah did not use his own magic for the spells of Kamar-Taj, as other Masters of the Mystic Arts do, but instead sought the power of the Vishanti. When he first felt their power, he realized just how strong they were. However, the magic of Kamar-Taj is not free.

The very word "borrow" implies that a debt must be repaid. However, the Vishanti, unlike other greedy and cruel Lords of Dimensions, offer more lenient terms. The sorcerers of Kamar-Taj make a pact with them: during their lifetime, they can use their power, but after death, their own magic passes to them. This is, in essence, quite a profitable deal.

Noah understood this dynamic, so he was not hasty in his requests. But as soon as he established a connection with them, they immediately shared their power with him, which surprised him. After all, he had only just begun to appeal to them and had not yet had time to ask for help.

He did not understand why they had decided to do so, but he figured that such powerful beings would not plot anything against him, especially considering that he had no chance of defeating the Vishanti in a direct battle yet. After verifying that everything was in order with the magic he had received, Noah calmed down and began to use it.

Five days passed, and he mastered several simple spells of Kamar-Taj, such as the Tao Mandalas – the double magical shields used by Doctor Strange – the energy whip, and portals. He could now cast these three spells with particular ease.

Of course, he also mastered other spells, such as creating magical weapons, but he considered them ineffective since he already had his own weapons. Why waste magic on creating a weapon when you can enhance the one you already have?

In addition to these spells, Noah also learned one that meshed well with his abilities – the Winds of Watoomb. This spell controls the wind, and Doctor Strange used it in the movie to disperse dust, isolate passersby, manipulate objects, and even stop a tsunami.

He also tried to master more complex spells, such as Eldritch Whip, capable of neutralizing powerful attacks, the Images of Ikonn, creating multiple clones, Bolts of Balthakk – one of Doctor Strange's few offensive spells, the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak – a powerful spell using the powers of Cyttorak, and the Shield of the Seraphim, Strange's most powerful defensive spell, capable of withstanding a blow from a spaceship.

Noah also wanted to learn how to control the Mirror Dimension, but he had not yet succeeded. He was also interested in the Astral Projection spell, which he could use if he summoned a champion named Shen, however, until that happened, Noah was forced to study it on his own.

All these spells are the most powerful in the Kamar-Taj arsenal (at least those shown in the movies). Noah also wrote down several minor spells for himself, which he planned to study in the future. He discovered that Kamar-Taj also teaches magical projection, turning magic into fireballs and other projectiles, although this spell requires significant energy expenditure and is rarely used, as not all mages can afford it.

"Shhh..."

A yellow energy whip crackling with lightning appeared in Noah's hand as he experimented with using his energy for the magic of Kamar-Taj. He used his electricity control abilities, gained through Statikk Shiv. The result was obvious: his magic proved to be more powerful than the power of the Vishanti.

"Crack!"

The whip lashed through the air with a loud crack. Noah realized that his own magic created a more powerful weapon than the Vishanti's, but he was more interested in the functional spells of Kamar-Taj, such as portals, Astral Projection, and the Mirror Dimension.

He dispelled the electric whip and, extending his hand, began to draw a circle in front of him, imagining the place he wanted to go. Sparks suddenly appeared in the space before him, rapidly expanding to form a circular portal. This was the magical portal of Kamar-Taj. If a sorcerer mastered this spell, it was enough for them to imagine the destination to open a portal there.

When the portal stabilized, Noah stepped inside and found himself in a familiar place – the living room of his house. The portal behind him slowly dissipated since he was not maintaining it specifically. Remarkably, there was no Sling Ring on his hand.

In theory, the masters of Kamar-Taj use rings to open portals and perform magical spells, but after receiving the ring, Noah found that it only hindered him, restricting his movements. He decided to place the ring in his inventory, which was his first attempt to integrate items from the Marvel universe into his inventory. The reappearing portal confirmed his guess, and he thought about filling his inventory with Infinity Stones in the future and becoming invincible.

Returning to the training room, Noah decided to test the maximum distance he could open a portal. He asked Lissandra to display an image of the surface of the Moon on the screen – his goal was to open a portal to the Moon. Drawing a circle with his hand, he visualized the lunar landscape in his mind, and a portal began to form before him.

"Whoosh!"

As soon as the portal opened, the air around it began to swirl and rushed toward the portal. The moment the air currents arose, he stabilized his body and surrounded himself with magical protection. Lissandra completely sealed the training room.

After a while, the air currents stopped since there is a vacuum on the Moon, and, due to the pressure difference between Earth and the Moon, the air rushed into the portal. As a result, the training room also became a vacuum.

Feeling the lightness of his body in the vacuum conditions, Noah used magic to rise and float toward the portal.

"On the Moon... I'm really on the Moon" – he raised his head and looked at the blue planet, the distant and beautiful Earth.

Opening the portal to the Moon, he felt that this was almost the maximum distance he could open it. To increase the distance, he would need to train diligently. However, while studying portal magic, Noah realized that two of his abilities could significantly enhance his mastery in this matter.

These abilities are "Teleport" and "Flash."

"I need to properly study these two summoner spells, especially Flash. I feel that it could be very useful."

Noah did not linger long on the Moon – there was nothing here but sand and craters. Oh yes, I almost forgot: the Inhumans live on the far side of the Moon, but he decided it would be better to meet them another time.

After returning to Earth, the portal began to shrink and soon disappeared.
