Chapter 411: Pyramid
The pitch-black man rose from his seat, gazing outward. His face, smeared as though with thick ink, stretched into long, continuous threads of viscous slime.
A few minutes earlier, outside the pyramid:
Zane and his group hovered in midair, halfway up the great sphinx-like pyramid.
Swoosh!
Zane lightly extended a bundle of black energy toward the pyramid's sandy yellow stone blocks.
Sizzle...
Before the black energy even touched the pyramid's surface, ripples began to emerge. Peaks and troughs followed in rapid succession, engulfing the energy in the blink of an eye.
"Hmm?"
"Even my death energy can be swallowed without a trace?"
Suspended in midair, Zane glanced at the seemingly unchanged sphinx-like pyramid, puzzling aloud.
"Take a closer look," Roma interjected. "The energy wave structure aligns perfectly with the arrangement of this building's stone blocks."
"The resonance between the two amplifies the energy released by the structure countless times over. Without identifying its pattern, breaking through is nearly impossible."
Roma carefully recalled the process by which Zane's black energy had vanished into the pyramid's external barrier, then deliberated each word before saying:
"These pyramids… it's hard to conclude they were created by this world. No wonder *Venom* would choose to hide here in advance."
"But how did he know?"
Unlike her father, Roma could not ignore the flow of time. For events that occurred before her birth, she could only glean fragmented knowledge from ancient texts or observers.
Boom!
"If this sphinx pyramid is the root of the issue, then let's solve it directly!"
Zane fixed his gaze on the mighty sphinx pyramid, which had withstood millennia of wind and sand without collapse. His glare intensified, focusing on the stone head of the sphinx and the pyramid peak aligned behind it.
In an instant, both were neatly sliced off, as if by a razor-sharp blade. Before the severed parts could fall, they suddenly dissolved into nothingness.
The once-sealed structure abruptly turned into an open-air ruin. From the cleanly cut opening, clouds of dust erupted, swirling chaotically in the shafts of light.
"Huh? How did you manage that?"
"The energy barrier outside didn't react at all..."
Roma murmured in shock. Previously, when Zane's death energy instantly killed the divine team's fragile lifeforms, she could understand.
But this pyramid was clearly immune to the destructive power of death energy. Its barrier's energy structure was designed to grow stronger against greater force.
Yet, it still crumbled, sliced cleanly in half under Zane's glare.
"It's simple," Zane replied calmly. "I looked at it and denied the rationality of that part of its existence."
"Naturally, it no longer needed to exist..."
Swoosh!
A flash of light.
Zane finished his sentence nonchalantly and immediately flickered into the broken interior of the pyramid.
The others, too startled to dwell on their amazement, quickly followed, their forms flickering as they pursued him.
Inside, nearly a hundred transparent cages glowing faintly green came into view.
Within most of these cages stood a resolute, cold-eyed, beautiful young girl. Beside her lay the corpse of another girl, drenched in blood, her lifeless eyes filled with despair and confusion.
Lorna was about to step closer when a sudden, strange sound erupted. Roma quickly pulled her back.
And then—
Boom!
Boom!
BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!
The cages housing the two remaining living girls abruptly dissolved into cascading pools of black liquid, collapsing with a deafening crash.
In an instant, the liquid engulfed the girls' bodies, eliciting a hiss of rising green smoke as it melted their forms away into a viscous black mass.
"Tsk, tsk… such obedient little girls," a voice sneered.
Swoosh!
A pitch-black man, whose features bore a resemblance to Jaspers, suddenly appeared before the group.
His grotesque face resembled a mask of black leather. Grinning wickedly, he surveyed the surviving green-glowing cages with a sinister gaze.
Licking his lips lasciviously, he said, "Heh heh heh… even the dead shouldn't go to waste."
Whoosh!
Whoosh!
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!!!
At his words, the girls in the cages instinctively attempted to evade, but it was futile. Countless black rays shot out from the man's body, scattering like tendrils toward the foreheads of the living girls.
Even when they turned invisible, the rays unerringly struck their targets. A tiny black dot pierced their foreheads, vanishing in an instant.
The remaining rays dispersed, enveloping the corpses of the fallen girls.
As before, the bodies dissolved into black liquid, merging with the previously gathered ink-like mass. The combined pool then flew back into the man, disappearing into his body without a trace.
"Ahh… full now," the black figure groaned, a grotesque smirk spreading across his face.
He then turned his gaze toward Zane and the others, saying mockingly, "Oh, pardon me, I forgot you were here..."
"Which beautiful maiden are you looking for? Could it be one of the ones I've already… digested?"
He patted his not-so-bulging black belly, his tone taunting as his eyes locked provocatively on Zane and his group.
Zane's party, including Lorna and Roma, slowly calmed down. The events had happened so quickly that they had been unable to react in time.
Zane, however, remained indifferent. Life and death—what did it matter if they were beautiful girls?
As the master of the *omnipotent universe's* death laws, Zane viewed life and death with detachment. After all, existence or non-existence was merely a matter of his decree.
Yet, the attitude of the man before him irritated him deeply.
As Zane opened his mouth to speak, Jaspers's soul suddenly emerged from behind the group, stepping into view.
His pale, ethereal gaze locked onto the man who bore his likeness.
"It's me, Jaspers, your master. I've been looking for you."
