Chapter 410: Venom Venom
The attack didn't hit any target but instead struck the edge of the arena, causing a sizzling sound as if it were being corroded by venom.
"Ouch! That hurts..." The beautiful woman grimaced with a pained expression, clearly struggling with the unpleasant sensation.
At that moment, a sudden gust of cold wind swept through the confined space.
Abruptly, a shadowy figure appeared eerily behind the fair-skinned, beautiful young woman.
Swish!
The figure brought both hands together like blades and swiftly slashed toward the woman's head.
Perhaps still overwhelmed by the pain of her earlier failure or exhausted from the prolonged fight, she had no time to react.
Bang!
Her rigid body collapsed heavily to the ground, lying lifeless in a pool of blood that had begun to spread.
"Sorry... my sister is waiting for me."
"So, I need to escape this cage..."
The figure stood tall, gradually revealing equally striking features. Her face was filled with a mixture of sadness and determination as she glanced around at her surroundings.
All around her, without exception, were pairs of stunning young women locked in deadly combat.
"In 12 hours, only one person in each arena can remain alive. If there are two... well, you can look forward to my torment."
"Kehehehehe..."
A ghostly, sinister laugh echoed from an unknown source:
"Arena 1-3-221: Winner—Wind Blade Mutant!"
...
"Arena 2-5-793: Winner—Ice Mutant!"
...
"Arena 3-8-349: Winner—Mind Control Mutant!"
...
"Arena 1-3-221: Winner—Steel Tiger Mutant!"
...
The announcements continued one after another, making it clear that intense life-and-death battles were taking place in other arenas as well. Most of the outcomes had already been decided.
Meanwhile...
In a secluded, opulent, and grand chamber unknown to anyone, a tall, muscular man sat leisurely on a throne made entirely of gold.
In stark contrast to the gleaming golden surroundings, the man was pitch black, his skin marred with cracked, mottled lines oozing dark liquid.
In front of his seat, countless small, flickering screens filled an entire wall, displaying scenes of desperate combat from the distant arenas.
"Keh keh keh..."
"Those so-called 'Fate' deities of this universe still think they can use me to accomplish their plans..."
"They never imagined that I've been one step ahead of them all along."
"Earth? I'm no stranger to it."
"Speaking of which, this Jasper guy's abilities are truly handy."
"Though, his nature is a bit too lustful."
"Even I, as the Venom, have been somewhat influenced by him."
The pitch-black man muttered with a lewd grin, his eyes glued to the scenes playing on the holographic screens in front of him.
"Ah, whatever. Female it is, then. As long as I pick a few capable ones who can serve my upcoming plans, that's all that matters."
After finishing his thought, the man extended a finger and touched one of the holographic screens. It vanished instantly.
Then, he turned his massive golden throne around and looked back at a woman pinned to the ground by two other pitch-black, unidentified creatures.
His lustful gaze swept over the woman's figure as if savoring every detail, his expression filled with sly intent.
"What a rare find... to come across such a promising 'vessel' so quickly."
At his glance, the two servant-like liquid creatures retreated, releasing their hold on the woman.
She slumped weakly onto the floor, her body trembling as her voluptuous form pressed against the cold, hard surface. Her disheveled clothing clung to her, though it remained intact.
At the time of her capture, she had been on a scholarly tour in Egypt, exploring the ancient civilization's cultural history.
Perhaps influenced by the locals' unshaken faith amidst doomsday rumors, she had fearlessly ventured to the renowned pyramids.
But out of nowhere, a flash of light blinded her vision. A shadowy figure, his features resembling those of a British man, yet entirely shrouded in darkness, swiftly abducted her.
In his other hand, the man held more women who had suffered a similar fate.
Soon, young women from across the globe were gathered, their numbers steadily growing.
Once the group reached nearly a hundred, they were divided into pairs and confined together.
By the next day, only she remained, disheartened and utterly despondent, as she was brought to this place.
She had not encountered the apocalypse foretold by others but had instead been thrust into her own personal hell.
If Zane and the others were here, they would immediately recognize her: Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch of the primary universe.
She was also the twin sister of the whirlwind-flashing young man, Quicksilver.
"I can see the latent power within you," the black-clad man remarked, his tone a mixture of admiration and disdain.
"It's the kind of ability that could make you a leader among those pitiful creatures below."
"Yet, what surprises me most is how someone with such immense potential has yet to awaken..."
With that, he extended a finger toward Wanda, releasing a beam of dark energy that shot into her forehead.
She collapsed fully to the ground, her eyes filled with despair as she fell into an unconscious slumber.
"When you awaken again, you'll thank me for everything I've done for you."
Boom!
Suddenly, a loud noise erupted outside the pyramid.
"Have they found me already?" he muttered, his expression shifting as the situation began to escalate.
