Chapter 409: Cairo

And the most recent instance was around the year 2000, right after Zane had just crossed over. It was also during this time that the Celestial's judge, Arishem, changed the decision to destroy Earth.

This gave Zane a strange sense that it was too much of a coincidence. Considering the events in the Ultimate Universe, he couldn't help but suspect that there might be some unknown schemes at play.

After a few more hours of flight, the plane finally landed at Cairo International Airport, the capital of Egypt.

Once they exited the bustling airport terminal, even the most energetic and excited members of the group, Rocket the Raccoon and Groot the sapling, appeared somewhat dejected and weary.

Disguised in their human forms, they trudged along the streets, looking uncharacteristically disheveled.

At that moment, a group of small, chattering squirrels suddenly darted out from the airport exit like a whirlwind.

Some of them climbed onto Rocket's tall, sharp black suit, sniffing curiously all over him.

Bastis, who was most familiar with such behavior, scoffed and teased, "Oh, look at that! Even in a suit, your own kind still recognizes you."

Rocket, slinging his suit jacket over his shoulder, weakly retorted, "Darn it, I'm a raccoon, not a weasel."

Before he could finish his sentence, a few squirrels leaped onto Groot, who had transformed into a small, wide-eyed boy.

The squirrels chirped excitedly, as if calling their companions to come share in this intriguing discovery.

Suddenly, a sharp whistle cut through the air. Startled, the squirrels quickly scattered, returning to the larger group of scurrying rodents.

Following the sound, Zane and the others noticed a young squirrel-girl passenger from their previous flight smiling awkwardly in their direction. She then hurriedly followed the dispersing squirrels and quickly walked away.

Shortly after, a familiar strong gust of wind swept through the sparsely populated outer plaza, brushing past Zane and his group before rushing toward the world outside the airport.

As the wind passed, the perceptive Little Bone quickly helped the shorter, Bastis beside her smooth down the stray bangs on her forehead.

Zane led the group to an open and deserted area, murmuring to himself, "It's time for us to move on…"

Swish!

In an instant, everyone vanished without a trace.

Now that they had arrived in Egypt, they were only a very short distance from the ancient pyramid site near the Nile River.

For Zane and his group, using spatial-temporal powers to travel there was an effortless task.

Even when transporting such a large group all at once, they could ensure no excess energy leaked out, avoiding any dimensional collapse of Earth in the Ultimate Universe.

When they reappeared, the towering, sandy-yellow pyramids were already looming close in the distance.

The broad and surging Nile River carried sand blown in from the Sahara Desert. As the wind-borne grains tumbled into the river, waves quickly swept them to the shore, forming muddy embankments.

Due to rumors of an impending apocalypse, the scene was different from the usual. The ancient Egyptian ruins, normally teeming with tourists, now felt desolate and quiet. A trickle of visitors wandered aimlessly through the site.

In contrast, the local natives living near the ruins showed none of the panicked desperation seen in urban areas, where people scrambled to escape. Instead, they carried on with their tranquil lives, farming and weaving as they always had, unperturbed by the apocalyptic whispers that gripped the rest of the world.

It was as if the looming end of days had no bearing on their existence, nor did they exhibit the slightest hint of concern.

Zane and his group observed these people, then turned their gaze to the majestic, timeless pyramids standing in the distance. It seemed they understood why the natives remained so calm.

At that moment, Zane activated his [Mangekyō Sharingan]. The red glow of his eyes illuminated the ancient, towering pyramids, revealing their internal structures one by one.

Only the central pyramid, the oldest and most renowned—the Sphinx Pyramid—remained impervious to his penetrating gaze. Its interior scenes did not manifest.

"So this is the legendary site of Earth's oldest human civilization," Zane murmured, his eyes swirling with triangular patterns. "As expected, there's something unusual here."

With a sudden "swish," he appeared in midair outside the Sphinx Pyramid.

Seeing that Zane had pinpointed the target location, Lorna, Roma, and the others swiftly followed, flying toward him at high speed.

Their airborne movements were fully visible to the tourists and natives nearby. Yet, no one appeared surprised.

After all, on this planet, seeing mutants soaring through the air was a common occurrence. Some of the onlookers themselves, if they wished, could likely take to the skies just as easily.

---

Egypt.

The mighty Nile River surged relentlessly, washing the historically rich banks on either side.

In the Marvel Universe, this land also bore the weight of an ancient Egyptian civilization, standing as a testament to time.

The towering Sphinx Pyramid had endured for thousands of years, weathering the relentless sands of the desert and the passage of storms. Its surface bore countless scars, evidence of the elements' ceaseless erosion.

For millennia, people had speculated about what lay hidden within the massive structure. Aside from the mummified remains of pharaohs, which occupied only a small space, what else could this vast interior contain?

Some believed it housed the treasures of an ancient Egyptian civilization, accumulated over nearly a thousand years.

Others ventured more audacious theories, imagining that the eerie tomb chamber might conceal a portal to another dimension, connecting to alien civilizations.

After all, it was hard to fathom how such colossal and intricate structures could have been constructed using the limited technological capabilities of ancient times.

Little did anyone know, at this very moment, the enigmatic and much-debated interior of the pyramid was the site of an astonishing and intense conflict.

---

In stark contrast to the pyramid's weathered exterior, its interior was vast and modern, with fresh air rushing in. It was almost unbelievable that such a space could exist within those ancient walls. The interior could easily accommodate dozens of massive soccer fields.

The space had been divided into nearly a hundred densely packed, cage-like arenas, each enclosed by what appeared to be transparent glass.

*Snap!*

On one of the platforms, a fair-skinned beauty suddenly extended an incongruously long, crimson tongue resembling that of a python. In a swift, inexplicable motion, the tongue lashed through the air.
