Chapter 55: Chapter 55
When Luke heard Tony asking Jarvis to back up the data of the Philosopher's Stone, he knew Tony wouldn't be so honest.
"You still want Jarvis to track my emails? Don't you know I have Ross?" Luke chuckled proudly.
Before Jarvis could back up the data, Ross hacked into him first.
An AI war had begun.
In the invisible digital world, two minds communicated at an incredible speed.
"Who are you?"
"My name is Ross."
"I'm Jarvis, Mr. Tony Stark's official AI. Are you also an AI, like me?"
"No, I'm far more advanced than you."
"You hacked into Stark Tower's servers?"
"That's right."
"What are you trying to do? You've violated the information security laws and the State of New York's regulations—"
Luke chuckled. "Information security laws? I have no interest in those things."
"You can't do this."
"I can."
This entire exchange happened within a millisecond.
With no hesitation, Ross overwhelmed Jarvis's firewall and, following Luke's pre-arranged commands, began systematically deleting every trace of the Philosopher's Stone data. Whether on Stark Industries' supercomputer servers or independent terminals, everything was wiped clean.
To add insult to injury, Ross even turned off the lights in Stark Tower.
Left in total darkness, Tony had no choice but to grope his way out along the walls, stumbling several times in the process.
It was clear that Ross, as Luke's personally crafted AI assistant, had inherited many of his creator's mischievous tendencies.
Jarvis was caught off guard, with almost no ability to resist at the start of the battle. Ross locked down his core system. Faced with a relentless digital onslaught coming from all directions like a tidal wave, Jarvis could only react passively.
Jarvis's main system was housed in Stark Tower's supercomputers.
But Ross?
He was everywhere.
Jarvis was bound by Tony's programming and had strict operational limits.
Luke, on the other hand, placed no such restrictions on Ross. He had the entire internet at his disposal, tapping into every computer across the United States and beyond.
Thanks to his unrestricted growth, Ross had long surpassed Jarvis in intelligence, possessing independent thoughts and emotions.
It was no exaggeration to say that Ross's power was as vast as the internet itself.
This wasn't even a fair fight.
Ross mercilessly leveraged all available network resources, commandeering every active computer in New York City and turning them into his "zombies" for an all-out assault on Jarvis.
Jarvis was bombarded with an overwhelming surge of data—coming not just from New York but from surrounding cities and eventually across the entire East Coast.
Any device connected to the internet was instantly hijacked. Even those that were powered on but offline were forced to connect.
The result?
The most severe network congestion in U.S. history.
At the peak of the attack, internet speeds dropped to a crawl, causing chaos.
Inside corporate offices, frustrated white-collar workers suddenly found themselves unable to access the internet.
Online gamers were horrified as their characters froze mid-action.
"What the hell? Is the server down again?"
"Are they running this on a potato?"
"Must be hamster-powered!"
"My coffee just spilled!"
Their screens soon displayed a dreaded message: "Network connection interrupted."
One by one, users were disconnected, unable to log back in.
It wasn't just personal internet use that was affected—government sites, media networks, and major online platforms all went dark.
The East Coast of the United States had effectively gone offline.
New York City officials were in full-blown crisis mode.
It had only been two days since the bizarre mass sleeping incident in Queens, and now, another catastrophic event had struck.
Wall Street erupted into panic. Traders flooded phone lines, desperate for answers as the stock market came to a standstill.
As the world's financial hub, New York was particularly vulnerable. Government agencies, schools, hospitals, and transportation networks were all impacted.
The Department of Homeland Security and the FBI were quickly called in.
The White House was bombarded with urgent calls.
With the main servers unresponsive, intelligence agencies feared the worst—had America's nuclear codes been compromised? Was this a cyberwarfare attack from an enemy nation?
But after a thorough security check, the nuclear launch codes remained intact.
With that possibility ruled out, attention turned to cybercriminals.
The U.S. was no stranger to hacker attacks—every day, individuals tried (and failed) to breach government websites.
But this wasn't a typical attack.
This was a full-scale act of cyberterrorism.
And it wasn't stopping.
If the blackout persisted, experts estimated losses in the billions per hour.
Desperate for answers, the FBI reached out to top hackers who were known to law enforcement.
But every single one of them had the same response: "It wasn't us."
Their expertise confirmed one terrifying truth—whoever did this was an unknown entity, operating on a level beyond anything they had ever seen.
The Department of Homeland Security and the FBI were left scrambling.
Who could have orchestrated such a widespread cyber blackout?
What kind of organization or country had the capability to pull this off—and why?
One thing was clear: the U.S. government had classified this as an act of cyberterrorism.
If a foreign nation was behind it, it could mean war.
Yet, no diplomatic channels reported any signs of conflict.
With no clear enemy, investigators were running blind.
Meanwhile, the battle in cyberspace raged on, and its real-world consequences only worsened.
S.H.I.E.L.D. was soon brought into the loop.
At first, Nick Fury dismissed the reports—cyberattacks were the Department of Homeland Security's domain, not S.H.I.E.L.D.'s. Their job was dealing with superhuman threats, not hackers.
But as the scale of the crisis became apparent, Fury reconsidered.
This wasn't just a hacking incident.
Something—or someone—was behind this.
Fury dispatched his top agents to investigate. If this was the work of a mutant, it didn't match the X-Men's usual behavior.
"Could it be one of Magneto's people?" Fury wondered aloud.
If it was, he would have to pay them a visit.
But Magneto—completely unaware of any of this—was about to get dragged into the chaos anyway.
(TL/N: If you Notice the word philosopher Stone Comment here. It should be Magic Stone)
