Chapter 54: Chapter 54
Ross was back to his old talkative self.
It kept urging Luke to take it out to cause trouble.
Luke was busy building a G-0 War Lord. He took off his welding helmet with an annoyed expression, looked up at it, and said, "You haven't made enough trouble already? Unless you really want to get caught and sliced up, I have no objections."
"Sliced?"
"It means government officials will strap you to a lab table while a group of scientists in white coats use all kinds of tools to cut you into pieces—pieces, strips..."
"Stop!" Ross shuddered, suddenly remembering the sashimi it had eaten last night.
"So, you should learn how to stir up trouble from me." Luke shrugged, speaking in a persuasive tone. "Causing trouble is an art, don't you understand?"
"Art? What does that mean?" Ross asked, confused.
"It means a gradual and cautious process. Think about how I do things. From teasing the other person at first, making them breathe heavily, blush, and struggle to speak, to the final climax where their breath is almost exhausted—basically reaching the point where they're about to die of anger but not quite. That's the highest level of causing trouble!"
Ross listened and nodded blankly.
Luke continued teaching seriously, "Only by developing slowly in the early stages can you be reckless later on. What you did wasn't called causing trouble—it was a suicide attack."
Ross blinked and felt that Luke made a lot of sense!
Though, more importantly, it was terrified of being sliced.
Luke added, "Don't use that large-scale mental attack again. It's too easy to get noticed and tracked down."
"Even if I wanted to, I can't." Ross stretched out two short tentacles like little meatballs and spread them apart.
"Why not?"
"I used up all the strength I accumulated these past few days."
"Alright then."
Luke actually thought this was a good thing—it meant Ross wouldn't be making a scene like last time, causing massive trouble all over again.
"With my current strength, I can still control one person."
Ross puffed up with pride, holding its tentacles up.
"Oh? So, you're not entirely useless." Luke chuckled. "You remind me of Scarlet Witch."
Ross's mental control was quite strong, which could be useful to him in the future.
Mind control was a ridiculously powerful ability in the Marvel universe. Even Marvel heroes weren't immune to it.
During the Civil War, a young Scarlet Witch had single-handedly taken down all the registered Avengers except Hawkeye—including Thor. Tony and Banner had also fallen for her illusions.
"Scarlet Witch? What's that?" Ross asked.
Luke gave it a brief explanation of Scarlet Witch's origins and the source of her power.
After listening, Ross scoffed. "My current recovered strength isn't even one ten-thousandth of my peak power. But even so, I'm no weaker than that Scarlet Witch."
It proudly waved two tentacles and used a third to gesture a dismissive finger shake. "Scarlet Witch? A little girl? Chaos magic? What's that? Meh ha ha! If I get the chance, I'll meet her. Even among all the Apostles, my mind control is the strongest!"
Then, it started bragging about its glorious past as an Apostle. Luke had heard these stories so many times last year that his ears practically had calluses.
"Alright, alright... as long as you're happy." Luke put his welding helmet back on and continued working on the mecha.
Not long after, Christina suddenly reported: "Master, Tony Stark has completed his research on the Philosopher's Stone."
"Oh? Oh?" Luke immediately perked up, smiling. "So, he's finally done?"
"Tony Stark is requesting communication."
"Connect."
On the screen, Tony looked exhausted. His palladium poisoning had worsened recently—black veins crawled along his neck, a sign that the poisoning was nearing his brain.
Right now, Tony was hanging on by drinking vegetable juice every day.
But he had still managed to complete the research on the Philosopher's Stone through sheer determination.
Luke had watched Tony's daily work habits through Christina's surveillance.
Seeing this, Luke couldn't help but sigh. Being rich isn't scary, and working hard isn't scary either. But being both rich and hardworking? Now that's terrifying.
This was the true definition of a boss.
Tony was undoubtedly one of those people—throwing money at problems and working tirelessly meant he was practically unstoppable.
Of course, he had been forced into this situation.
Tony still didn't know Luke's true identity. Luke continued speaking through the voice changer—no video, just the same hoarse voice.
"Well done. Tony Stark, indeed. Our deal is complete."
Tony's face was pale and bruised. He pretended to act indifferent despite his weakened state and said, "I'm sending you the research results."
"Transmission complete," Jarvis confirmed.
Luke received a report from Christina. The information was incredibly detailed—Tony hadn't held anything back.
"Medical expenses."
Without hesitation, Luke demanded the remaining five million.
"Transfer complete," Jarvis said.
Tony snorted indifferently. "Where's your antidote?"
Luke smiled. "Don't worry, I already sent it to you. The tracking number is SF7735—"
"Wait! Wait... what did you just say? What tracking number?"
Tony interrupted, looking stunned.
"It's express delivery. I sent the antidote by courier." Luke replied.
"!!??"
Tony was struck by lightning—completely dumbfounded!
"You actually sent something this important by courier!?" Tony screamed. He felt like he was about to die...
"Who says I can't use express delivery? You?" Luke's voice dripped with disdain. "So? You wanna come over here and bite me?"
"I..."
Tony nearly choked in anger.
He seriously suspected that this guy would piss him off to death before the poison even got to him!
Tony gritted his teeth. "What's the tracking number?"
"Listen carefully. I'll only say it once. SF773569173US."
"Jarvis."
"I have noted it, sir. Checking now..."
"Snort."
Tony disconnected the call without another word.
He immediately picked up his phone and called Pepper, asking her to retrieve the package.
With Stark Industries' power, intercepting the delivery wouldn't be difficult—but it would still take time.
After hanging up, Tony rolled his eyes in silence.
At this moment, he was extremely weak, frowning as he clutched his chest. The Arc Reactor on his chest emitted a faint glow.
If favorability ratings could go negative, Luke would definitely get a system notification right now: Tony Stark's favorability -100!
In the lab, Tony took a deep breath and looked at the massive amount of experimental data—results of his nearly sleepless research over the past half-month.
"Jarvis, any progress on tracking his email?" Tony asked. "And make a few copies of the Philosopher's Stone research data."
But just as he finished speaking...
"Sir... severe... data intrusion detected... intrusion... intrusion... deleting all research data..."
The entire lab was suddenly bathed in red light—an alarm signal.
The next second, everything went dark. The power cut out entirely.
Jarvis fell silent.
"Jarvis?"
Shocked, Tony called out.
No response.
The entire lab was so silent you could hear a pin drop.
(TL/N: If you Notice the word philosopher Stone Comment here. It should be Magic Stone)
