Chapter 10: 10
Arriving at the garage, Yun Che pulled out his phone and dialed Su Shanshan's number.
"Hello, son? What's going on?" Su Shanshan's voice carried a hint of curiosity. It was rare for Yun Che to call her—if he had something important to discuss, he usually visited in person.
"Not much. Just wanted to ask for a few bodyguards," Yun Che replied casually.
"Bodyguards? Why the sudden interest?" Su Shanshan was puzzled. She had suggested this many times before, but Yun Che had always refused. As the heir of the Yun family, walking around unprotected was hardly appropriate.
"Just thought it was about time," Yun Che said with a laugh. His predecessor had prided himself on being low-key, rejecting any form of ostentation. But Yun Che had no such reservations.
Why trouble himself with everything when he could pay others to handle it?
"Alright, wait at the villa. I'll send some people over," Su Shanshan said briskly. As the CEO of a billion-dollar conglomerate, she was perpetually busy. Even sparing time for this call was a rarity.
Before Yun Che could respond, the line went dead. He glanced at his phone and smiled faintly. He was more convinced than ever that he wouldn't be inheriting the company anytime soon—better to let his mother handle it a while longer.
…
An hour later, a fleet of SUVs pulled up at Crouching Dragon Mountain Villa. Over a dozen burly men in suits and sunglasses stepped out. The leader, a dark-skinned man standing over 1.8 meters tall, approached Yun Che.
"Good day, young master!" the man greeted with a deep voice, bowing slightly.
"What's your name?" Yun Che asked, sizing him up.
"You can call me Ah Long, young master," the man replied respectfully.
Yun Che nodded approvingly. The Yun family trained their bodyguards meticulously, and these men were clearly from that elite group. "From now on, you're my bodyguards. My mother briefed you, I assume?"
"Rest assured, young master! We are loyal to you until death!" Ah Long and the others knelt on one knee, their voices echoing in unison. Yun Che studied their expressions and found no reason to doubt their sincerity—for now.
"Good. Choose any car from the garage and follow me," Yun Che instructed, climbing into his Bugatti. Moments later, he sped off, a convoy of Audis trailing behind him.
…
The sight of the Bugatti leading a fleet of luxury cars caused a stir in Linjiang City. Onlookers whispered excitedly, wondering which high-ranking young elite was on the move.
The convoy came to a halt in front of Heaven on Earth, one of the city's most renowned leisure clubs. Yun Che stepped out, his expression calm yet commanding.
He wasn't here to indulge—his purpose was to meet Li Hu, the hidden boss behind Heaven on Earth. In the original storyline, Li Hu eventually became one of Ye Chen's key supporters.
After all, no urban protagonist's rise to power was complete without a few influential underground figures in their corner.
Though Li Hu had been working to legitimize his operations, he hadn't fully cut ties with his past. When profit was involved, his moral boundaries became blurred.
…
As Yun Che entered the opulent grand hall of the club, flanked by his bodyguards, a staff member quickly approached him with a professional smile.
"Good evening, sir. Do you have a specific preference? Or would you like me to recommend a few of our best ladies?"
The staff member's keen eyes had already noted Yun Che's expensive attire and the Patek Philippe watch on his wrist. Coupled with the imposing presence of his entourage, it was clear this was someone of considerable status.
"I'm here to see your boss, Li Hu," Yun Che said, his tone cool and direct.
The staff member hesitated, then bowed slightly. "Understood. Please allow me a moment to inform the manager."
He gestured for other staff to bring tea and refreshments while he hurried off.
…
Shortly after, a middle-aged man appeared, hurrying toward Yun Che. He was slightly overweight, wore glasses, and sported a receding hairline. Sweat glistened on his forehead as he forced a smile.
"May I ask why you're looking for our boss?" he asked cautiously, his gaze flickering nervously to Yun Che's bodyguards. The young man's air of authority, coupled with the luxury convoy parked outside, suggested he wasn't someone to take lightly.
The man's heart raced as he wracked his brain, trying to recall if he'd ever seen this young man before.
