Chapter 11: 11
"I have a business proposal for him," Yun Che said with a faint smile.
The manager hesitated for only a moment before responding, "Please, follow me to the sixth floor." He dared not probe further into Yun Che's identity.
Although he was aware that his boss's activities extended beyond managing an entertainment club, he wisely refrained from digging deeper. In his experience, some things were better left unknown.
…
On the sixth floor, outside a luxurious VIP room, the manager knocked respectfully. "Boss, a distinguished guest wishes to discuss a business matter."
A rough, deep voice answered from within, "Let him in."
The manager opened the door and gestured politely. "This way, sir."
Yun Che glanced back at his entourage. "You all stay outside. Ah Long, come in with me."
"Understood, young master," Ah Long replied, while the other bodyguards positioned themselves on either side of the door, maintaining a vigilant stance.
…
Inside the room, a burly, middle-aged man sat casually on a plush leather chair. His sharp eyes scrutinized Yun Che as he walked in, his expression turning puzzled. "Who are you?" he asked, his brows furrowing.
"Yun Che." Without waiting for an invitation, Yun Che strolled over, pulled out a chair, and sat down. His demeanor was completely unrestrained, as though he owned the place.
Li Hu's irritation flared. It had been years since anyone dared treat him so dismissively. "What's the meaning of this?" he asked, his tone darkening.
"Relax," Yun Che said with a smirk. "I'm here to talk business—a deal that's very much in your interest."
Li Hu sneered. "This is how you conduct business? Barging in like you own the place?"
Yun Che chuckled coldly and casually tossed a thick file onto the table. "Take a look. That might change your tone."
Li Hu's expression turned grim as he reached for the file. But just as his hand moved toward the desk drawer, the unmistakable click of a safety being disengaged echoed in the room.
"Don't move, or you're dead," Ah Long said coldly, his gun already trained on Li Hu's forehead.
Yun Che raised a brow, genuinely surprised. Guns were heavily restricted in the Country, yet Ah Long had one. Then again, this world operated on the logic of a novel, where the impossible became commonplace.
…
Li Hu froze, sweat trickling down his temple. "Let's not get hasty… we can talk this through," he stammered.
He hadn't seen a gun pointed at him in years, and now it felt like he was back in his old life of constant danger. He didn't even consider whether the weapon was real. With Yun Che's resources, acquiring one wouldn't be difficult.
Ah Long glanced at Yun Che, awaiting his instruction.
"Lower the gun. We're here to talk business, not make a mess," Yun Che said with a smile.
Reluctantly, Ah Long holstered the firearm but left a warning. "Don't try anything. I'm faster than you'll ever be."
…
Li Hu let out a shaky breath and opened the file. As he read through the contents, his face drained of color. Shock turned to dread, and finally, pale-faced, he looked up.
"Where… where did you get these documents?" he stuttered, his hands trembling. The file contained detailed evidence of his illegal activities from years ago—crimes he thought he'd buried forever.
"You really thought your tracks were clean?" Yun Che smirked.
The truth was, these documents had come from his father, who wielded enough influence to uncover anything. The authorities had long been aware of Li Hu's operations but had chosen to overlook them due to their insignificance.
In the original storyline, Li Hu's survival was owed to the protagonist Ye Chen's network of connections. Without that, he'd have been eliminated countless times.
…
"Who… who are you?" Li Hu asked shakily, his confidence completely eroded.
Yun Che leaned back lazily. "Didn't I already tell you? Yun Che, from the Yun family."
Li Hu's expression shifted as understanding dawned. Among the elite families in Linjiang City, the Yun family stood at the pinnacle of mystery.
To outsiders, they were merely the owners of a billion-dollar corporation. But those with insider knowledge knew their influence extended far beyond that.
Even Li Hu had only heard rumors about their young master, said to be studying at Linjiang University.
"So… you're that Yun Che…" Li Hu muttered, his voice laced with awe and dread.
