Chapter 139: Suspect
—squekkk
The sound of a massive door opening resounded as a troop of soldiers wearing golden yellow amour trooped into a hall.
"Hmmm, what a surprise, the royal guard paid us such an unexpected visit....someone get them some food" at the helm of the hall, a young man’s voice echoed.
His seat was one of three helming over this great hall, but from his sitting position it seemed like even amongst them, he was of incredible influence.
"Hmm, we aren’t here for that!!! We are here to determine if a crime has been popertrated by you lot" with a voice filled with authority, the head guard of this troop announced.
He was called Laylin Duan. He was a peak level 3 mage of the duan royal family. The royal family was designed in such a way that any member of the family could be moblized at any point to lead men.
They were heavily militarised for a royal family.
"Ahh? A crime? What crime?" Leon asked with a tone of genuine worry.
"Someone snuck into the Palace, that’s all I can tell you" the head guard said firmly.
They had recieved orders a few hours ago to immediately mobilize all the royal guards and investigate all the entrances to the royal Palace.
This of course included the faystone mansion.
"Snuck into the Palace? Impossible!!" Leon said with a tinge of vexation and smugness. Everyone knew that the royal Palace was impenetrable, this had been sold to the mages of Eldoria for the longest time
To suggest otherwise was to go against fact.
"Enough!!! You’re a suspect, we must take you in for questioning" the guard in charge said with some annoyance. Leon here didn’t seem like he knew prior to them getting here.
And apart from his age....he really didn’t fit the description.
The young man from the sky temple had given them this, a mucluar young man in high grade amour, level 3 warlock and he....had white hair?
On second thoughts....Leon kind of looked like who they were looking for.
"You can try" Beside Leon a man in a purple bath robe appeared and said coldly. His eyes containing a sort of dislike.
"Hm?" The head guard frown at this scene.
Before coming here, his superiors warned him about the faystone mansion. Apparently there had been a shake up in power in the household during the past few weeks.
The faceless mercenary company, the waterway family and faystone household seemed to have joined hands with the help of a level 4 great mage.
Even he, a member of thw royal family had to be respectful to level 4 mages.
It was deeply shocking that this happened but then again, was this that much of a bad thing? The faystone ancestor was loyal to them after all. Him bringing these powers to the central City was a huge boon to its defences
The faystone ancestor had succeeded where the marquee cane had failed.
This was one of the reasons he didn’t want to be here, they had done so much for the royals and now they were being accused of working with the warlocks and sneaking into the Palace?
It was absurd.
"I’m afraid we have no choice..." as the head guard was going to speak, another guard appeared by his side and whispered into his ear.
Leon couldn’t quote remember him, but this guy was amongst the ones brought here by Alvin a few weeks ago.
At that time, Alvin was accusing Leon of working with warlocks and even ended up attacking Leon.
"Are you serious?" The head guard too frown when he heard the accusations laid on Leon by Alvin as was just reported to him by the guard on his side.
Panning his eyes to where Leon was seated the head guard asked a brazen question.
"Might I ask you to take off your mask sir?"
The most absurd assumption had just come to mind. Leon had white hair, a faceless mask and could possibly have access to the tunnel leading to the Palace. To top it off, he possibly had connections to warlocks? Something was definitely wrong.
"Hmm? Aren’t you asking for too much? " Beside Leon Half moon asked with a gloomy expression.
In as much as he wanted to not enter a conflict with the royals, he knew he couldn’t throw Leon under the bus as per their contract.
"We must verify something.....don’t worry, no one will see his true identity, men turn around" the head guard commanded. He wanted to verify Leon’s identity.
The kid they were looking for had to be a warlock, if Leon wasn’t then he could be ar ease and steer this conversation in a more positive direction. If he was though.....
"No problem" Leon didn’t argue much, he agreed to show his face. So as soon as the others faced away, Leon revealed his face to the head guard.
"Sighh!!!" The man sighed in relief when he saw Leon’s eyes.
They were a bit strange but there was no sign of Ether. He wasn’t a warlock.
It made sense. How could Leon be a warlock? Not only had he convinced these two powerhouses that he was a human. He had convinced the faystone ancestor
This was a being hundreds of years old, there was no pulling one over on such an existence.
"Satisfied?" Leon placed his mask back on and said. He knew this was going to happen someday, that was why he made sure his looks had been altered even before entering duan city.
Forget people noticing that he was a warlock. Even those who knew him from when he was outside duan City would find it hard to recognise him at this point.
" I apologise for the inconvenience" it was rare for a royal to be so humble....maybe it was because of level 4 great mage, or maybe something else...but he was suddenly courteous to Leon.
"Actually.....I’m also on orders to invite some of you to the royal Palace....especially sir over there and....the faystone ancestor and his descendant" the head guard suddenly remembered something else.
Apart from this whole issue, there was an order passed to him to invite this new congregation of power to the royal Palace to see a great elder.
"Ai, I don’t think it will be possible for the ancestor to attend, but what do you need Alvin for?" Leon froze and asked.
He could speak for Arians father, but was quite curious as to what they wanted from Alvin.
"Oh yes, the boy is ranked 20th on the top 30 sky talents of duan city.....as you know, the competition is around the corner, we believe he should be free to...train for it. Don’t worry, we will keep him under a watchful eye" the man explained.
The sky temple would occasionally pick a few people during the competition to go with them for special training so this competition was seriously sort after by those on the rankings.
Who didn’t want to go to a place where their horizons would be widened? A place where their potential will shine.
"I don’t know.....the kid is not really okay up stairs" Leon didn’t want to let Alvin go.
Alvin was a real pain in the ass, getting the brat locked up was the best thing to ever happen to the household. Setting him free wasn’t a good idea.
"You have to, but don’t worry, he won’t set foot here until we deem him sane"
The head guard knew that Leon had framed the kid or something. Leon definitely wasn’t innocent..so he would press him to release the boy.
At least in this conflict the two elders seated next to Leon wouldn’t interfer..
"Okay....I hope so, someone lead them to where the brat is" Leon waved his hand and a faceless mercenary in guard uniform stepped forward to show them out.
After confirming that Leon wasn’t a warlock, the head guard completely forgot that he was actually here to find the person who snuck into the Palace.
It was partly due to the pressure from Arians father and half moon, but most of all, it was from the fact they didn’t believe that it was possible to sneak into the Palace from the beginning.
Especially from here, Leon didn’t know this, but the entrance he had been using to enter the royal Palace was the hardest of all the entrances.
It difficulty was one of the reasons he was always closed. Not one authority had been gotten from that entrance ever
It was a waste of time.
(Hmmmm.....its all wrapping up huh? I need to leave soon....I have few chances)
Leon thought in his mind.
There was too much happening now, he had to get what he came here for and leave as soon as possible before the city Implodes.
"What about the search party? Did they finally get the location?" Leon looked to his side and asked Half-moon.
"Yes" Half-moon responded with a nod.
"Okay, tell them to mobilze, we will raid that warehouse this night" Leon said calmly.
The warehouse in question belonged to the Dalriss family. Leon was brewing an all out conflict for some reason.
