Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Why??
During the Lilah and Ezra fight.
The people of William's were all up at night to celebrate the village's founding. The village was making fifty years of existence so the villagers decided to celebrate it during the night.
Many of them were drinking booze while others sang songs of happiness. Singing for a longer life so that more and more people from William's could end up at places of power like their sons Ezra and Nova.
Trazer, who had failed to join Aizen college, was helping out where ever he could making sure the people were happy and satisfied since the Jameson family was the host of this year's founding ceremony.
"Wow, I didn't realize you were this reliable, Trazer." Bailey said.
"Well when your family is hosting the founding ceremony, you have no choice but to help out. It's my duty as the eldest." Trazer said.
"He's acting like Ezra." Carl said, with a smile on his face.
"No, I'm not." Trazer yelled.
"I don't know. Ezra was usually the one who used to get very involved in the founding ceremony. It's almost like your imitating him." Brook said drinking a glass of juice.
Trazer looked at the three kids with widened eyes. He sighed and took a sip of booze.
"Well he did have a way of making this boring day special. He really did care about this village." He took another sip. "I feel like I was too hard on him. I mean he was special."
"Wow, are you drunk?" Bailey asked, in shock.
"No, I'm not." Trazer yelled.
"When is Ezra coming back?" Carl asked in the most innocent tone.
"I don't know, but I heard he's in the continent so I guess he'll come over soon." Trazer said with a smile on his face.
"To bad he's going to miss out on the ceremony." Brook said while looking up at the sky.
Then in the sky, that's when he saw Lilah. She was looking down at the village with a wide grin on her face.
"Um... Trazer. There is someone in the sky." Brook said pointing at the sky.
Trazer's eyes widened in shock. He recognized her and something unnerving began to settle in his heart.
"Hey Trazer, what's happening?" Bailey asked.
"That's a girl from the college." Trazer said. "What is she doing?"
"That means that Ezra is here too." Carl said, happily.
The whole village was now looking at the person floating in the sky, laughing like maniac but the person didn't seem to care about their staring.
After about a minute of laughing, the person in the sky stopped and looked down at the people with her arms stretched out like she was about to give the village a big hug while mumbling something that was inaudible.
"People of William's. You are blessed today to die for the sake of the world." she said with a psychotic grin on her face. "You to be sentenced to death for giving birth to Ezra Jameson."
"What did she say?" Brook asked, confused like everyone else.
None of them apart from Trazer had ever seen this person that was saying that they were sentenced to death for giving birth to Ezra.
What was her deal with the boy?
What was she talking about?
All these questions ran through everyone's heads.
"Everyone, get inside. I have a bad feeling about this." Trazer pushed the kids into the house as he looked at the sky with a terrified look on his face.
Suddenly, the sky began darker than it already was and the sight surprised most of the people but Trazer still felt that crippling feeling that something bad was going to happen.
Ever been told to follow your gut. Well Trazer listened to his gut feeling and shouted to everyone to get into their house of into safety.
Many obeyed his command but some were still confused about why he wanted them inside. They didn't sense any danger and without a good reason from Trazer, some viewed it as a dark prank.
The people continued to mummer among themselves as to what was going on that they did not notice the spikes that began falling towards them from the sky. By the time, they felt an immediate danger, the first person had been impaled through his chest by a large spike about the length of a javelin and the width of a fire extinguisher.
Chaos broke out as more and more people kept on getting impaled. One after the other. Anyone with any amount of soul energy to get them a soul animal was not safe so that meant literally everyone in the village. Be it a man, woman or child. The spikes did not segregate. They killed anyone and everyone brutally with out remorse for age of disability.
Trazer guarded the house as he saw people get impaled through the chest and scream in pain before dying but he was determined to protect the family.
As he was standing outside of the house looking around for any spikes that may be flying to the house, a spike shot for him that he blocked with his body but the spike had so much force that it tore through Trazer's torso and over into the house.
Trazer fell onto the ground as more spikes shot into the Jameson house. He heard the screams of his family getting killed by those spikes and all he could do is slowly lose consciousness as he thought about Ezra and asked for forgiveness for being to weak to protect his friends and family.
As his eyes closed, a spike shot down and impaled into his chest pinning him on the ground.
After one hour of screams and cries, the massacre came to an end with everyone and I mean everyone in William's impaled by large spikes. Lilah flew back into the ocean immediately after and three hours later, Ezra reached the village.
The sight of the village was horrifying and almost made Tina wrench at the sight. Everyone was dead. Koko clenched his teeth as he looked at the deceased.
Ezra, though, avoided everyone else and ran to his family house. Upon reaching what was the Jameson household, he saw Trazer's body that was impaled with a large hole through his torso. He looked at Trazer's body and a tear rolled down his cheek.
He then ran into the house and the horror in it was more than he could imagine. His sword dropped to the ground and he followed immediately after with tears flowing down his face.
"Bailey, Brook, Carl, Father, his wife, Trazer, Mary, everyone. Everyone... talk to me, damnit. Don't tell me... why? Why? Why? Why did she do this? Why did they have to die? They didn't do anything. Why? Why? Why?" Ezra yelled. He was utterly devastated.
"Is this his family?" Tina asked, in sorrow.
"Yeah, even though he ran away from them...They are still his family." Alba said, she was in a state between sadness and anger.
"I understand you, bro. Cry it out." Koko said also angry at Lilah's actions.
"He isn't crying out of sorrow." Alba said.
"What do you mean?" Delilah asked.
"It's true that he's sad but that's not why he weeps. He is incredibly angry that his anger is spewing out as tears. His soul is saddened by what it may have to do next." Alba explained.
Ezra then began steaming up as he began hitting his hands and head on the ground that they began bleeding. The eagle tried getting through to him but he had blocked out his mind. All that he could think about was rage. His heart began to beat rapidly as his tears turned to blood.
Alba walked over to him and put her hand between the ground and his head stopping him. Ezra looked up at her and immediately hugged her tightly.
"It's okay, Ezra. We are all here with you." Alba said. "Don't cause yourself anymore pain. There is still much to do."
Alba held Ezra tightly as she stroked his hair gently.
"Thank you, Alba..." Ezra lost consciousness and fell asleep.
Seems like the poison was still in effect but his adrenaline made it seem like he was still perfectly okay.
