Everyone’s break: Juliet
Juliet POV
Adventure!
“Come on, Lucina! Why are you moving so slow?”
“Do we really have to do this?”
“Hmm? What do you mean?”
“Why do I have to meet your parents!? Like, is this normal for parties to meet each other’s parents!?”
“Hey! We’re not only going to be a party but you are also my best friend!”
“Gah. Right, that’s part of it too.”
Lucina lowers her head. Hehehe, she’s not denying that we’re best friends!
“Now, hurry up. The faster we get there, the faster we’ll get it done.”
I go behind Lucina and start pushing her.
“Fine, fine. I’m going. You don’t need to push me.”
“Let’s go!”
I start to run faster while pushing her.
“Hey! I said you don’t need to push meeeeee!”
We arrive in front of my house. It’s just a simple one-story building.
“Whew.”
I see my best friend breathe out.
“Why are you so nervous?”
“It’s just my first-time meeting with somebody else’s parents. I don’t really know what to do.”
“Huh? Are you saying that I’m taking your first time!”
“Where the hell did you learn that from? Must be from that woman. She’s a bad influence on you.”
I leaned a lot from Miss Athena!
“How exciting! Now, come on. Let’s gooooo!”
I open the door and push Lucina inside.
“Mooooom! Daaaaad! I brought a friend over!”
I shout as I push Lucina to our living room. My mom and dad are both there doing their own thing.
“Oh? Hello and welcome to our humble home. I am Juliet’s father, nice to meet you.”
“Fufufu, and I am her mother. It is so nice to finally have a face to the name.”
Lucina doesn’t move. Seems like she’s nervous. So, I, her best friend step forward!
“This is Lucina, she is my best friend!”
“My daughter has brought a friend home! Honey, bring out the celebratory feast!”
“Of course, dear. Juliet, why don’t you go to your room for a bit. We’ll have a meal, okay?”
“Okay! Come on Lucina, I’ll show you, my room!”
I grab Lucina’s hand and drag her to my room. She still hasn’t recovered after all.
“Here we are, my room!”
I drag Lucina inside and close the door.
“Hooo. I don’t know why I was so nervous.”
“I don’t get it either but you are now in my room!”
“This room looks nice.”
“Thanks!”
“Wait, I just realized. What’s with the feast?”
“Oh. Uh, you’re actually the first friend I brought home so that’s probably it.”
“So, what you’re saying is. I’m your first?”
“Yeah! Hey, wait! Don’t use my words against me!”
Lucina and I talk for a while.
“Juliet, meal’s ready! Bring your friend!”
“Oh! Food’s ready, let’s go!”
I grab her hand and pull her to the dining room.
“What the hell is this?”
As Lucina and I got to the dining room. There was a bunch of food. A lot of different kinds, too.”
“Make sure to wash your hands before the meal.”
“Kayyyy!”
Lucina and I sat down.
“Um, miss. Why did you cook so much?”
“You don’t need to call me miss. Just call me mom.”
“Uh, sorry. I don’t really think I can do that.”
“Is that so, how sad.”
My mother looks sad but recovers quickly. I’m watching this while already eating.
“Whatever you don’t finish, you can bring on your adventure.”
Mom’s words surprised me that I choke a bit. I get some water and drink it fast.
“How did you know, mom?”
“I just had a feeling.”
“Alright! Here we go. A adventuring pack to go!”
Dad returns to the room with a big backpack.
“What’s all of this, dad?”
“Just some things you need for an adventure, Juliet. It has tents, tools, and whatnot that you can use.”
“Wait. How did you prepare this already!?”
“Hehe. We’ve been prepared for a while. We just knew that you would go on an adventure someday. Your mom and I were adventurers after all.”
“Thank, mom, dad.”
I hug them both.
“Let’s eat, Lucina!”
“O-okay.”
We explain the situation as we eat. Mom and dad also tell some stories about their adventuring days. I already heard all of them but I always love to hear their stories.
“Ugh. I can’t eat another bite.”
Lucina puts down her spoon and relaxes.
“Fufufu. Juliet, come and help mom pack all of these for you.”
“Okay!”
I put away the remaining food with mom.
“Um, excuse me, sir.”
“Don’t call me sir. Just call me dad.”
“Uh. That would be too hard for me. Anyway, are you sure you’re okay with me going on an adventure with Juliet?”
I overhear their conversation and I see mom telling me to stay quiet.
“So, you wanna know why we, her parents, are accepting of someone we just met?”
I don’t see it but Lucina is probably nodding.
“That’s because we trust our daughter.”
“You do?”
“Yeah. You see, my daughter is a good judge in character. Her mother and I have made a lot of mistakes in the past but our daughter has been a great help over the years.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. It might seem to be hard to believe but our Juliet is really special. So, if our daughter believed that you are someone she can trust. Then, we trust you.”
“I see.”
“So, please. Keep my daughter safe.”
“I will.”
Mom and I look at each other and smile as we finish packing all of the food. It took a while but we got all of the things sorted out. We now have two backpacks!
“Your parents are nice.”
“I know!”
Lucina and I leave the house.
“Once we get to my home, I’ll introduce you to mine.”
“Okay.”
Lucina had already told me about her parents. I know what I can expect.
“Now, I really need to make sure you get home safety.”
“Wait, you weren’t going to before!?”
“Dumbass, I just got more reason to now. Wouldn’t want to make your parents sad.”
“Hehehehe, thanks! Let’s go.”
“Yeah, let’s go.”
Adventure!
