I Have a Girlfriend in Marvel

Chapter 95: Time to Draw a Card

The aftermath of the Abomination incident was handled by S.H.I.E.L.D.

Su Ye had no objections. He had no intention of killing Abomination, nor did he plan to take the uncontrollable brute home as a pet.

While Abomination was ugly, he wasn't like pure villains such as Green Goblin or Bullseye. He wasn't inherently rebellious or hell-bent on destruction.

In Shang-Chi, he appeared fighting fake matches with Wong in Macau. In the She-Hulk series, he reappeared and even gained the ability to switch between his human and Abomination forms.

Keeping him around could add some entertainment, especially since She-Hulk seemed to lean toward comedy based on the previews.

But the main reason was Su Ye's changed mindset. Unlike when he first became a superhero, now he no longer saw things as strictly good or evil.

America was so free; surely it could handle a few, or even dozens, rogue villains. That's democracy, right?

Su Ye acted to plant Red Shield's flag, signaling to the U.S. and S.H.I.E.L.D. that the red storm was coming.

Secondly, he simply wanted to join the fray and fight Abomination.

After all, with his system, participating in storyline events yielded benefits.

While Su Ye could let Abomination go, General Ross couldn't.

Abomination was once a soldier under Ross, albeit a complex one—born in Russia, leased to the U.S., and a British serviceman.

Regardless, he was under Ross's jurisdiction, so Ross believed he had every right to take Abomination back.

S.H.I.E.L.D., however, believed Ross's men had demonstrated utter incompetence in handling a super-criminal like Abomination, leaving everyone thoroughly disappointed.

In contrast, S.H.I.E.L.D., a specialized agency for dealing with extraordinary events, had sent only a branch leader, and Abomination was subdued with ease.

The strength and competence comparison was clear.

It wasn't that S.H.I.E.L.D. was determined to outshine the military, but with their superhero initiative on the horizon, Phil Coulson felt it was crucial to secure more leverage for the director.

Though Abomination had just gone berserk, with proper guidance, he could still become a valuable member of the superhero team.

Due to the differing developments from the cinematic universe, Coulson's mindset now was quite different from the Marvel short film where he tried to block Abomination's entry into the Avengers.

Even if Abomination wasn't to join the Avengers but be imprisoned, Coulson believed he should be held in a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility—that's what they were built for.

To achieve this, he even went as far as to temporarily assign Su Ye the title of branch director.

Of course, anyone who believed that was a fool.

General Ross watched Su Ye's retreating figure, falling into deep thought.

The Chevrolet rolled through New York's late-night streets, heading toward Su Ye's home in Queens.

As it was nearing midnight, Su Ye abandoned the idea of visiting Muse Bar and instead headed home to await the system's midnight reward.

After tonight's battle with Abomination, the system was expected to issue a high-tier event-triggered card as a reward.

Su Ye didn't know what the card would be, but he was excited.

After his battle with the Destroyer, Su Ye received another [Girlfriend Card (Green★)], the same reward he got for completing the "Mafia Takedown" event.

Logically, defeating the Destroyer should have been far harder than taking down the Mafia, yet the card rewards were identical.

Su Ye speculated it was because he used the Arc Reactor bomb, which the system likely saw as a shortcut, thus lowering the reward tier—otherwise, it would've been at least a Blue★ card.

Now, Su Ye had two Green★ cards in his possession.

In addition, he had one [Upgrade Card], one [Multiple Card], and a pile of standard Green and White cards.

It had been over two months since Su Ye drew his first girlfriend, Gwen, and gained Spider-Man's abilities. After converting his White cards into Green ones, he now had more than ten again.

However, Su Ye hadn't gone for a second ten-card draw yet. He was waiting to accumulate ten Blue cards before pulling again.

This way, he would be guaranteed at least a Blue-rank girlfriend, which he could then upgrade to a Purple-rank with the Upgrade Card. He was eagerly anticipating it.

As for single draws miraculously yielding high-tier cards, Su Ye had given up on such naive hopes.

Guaranteeing a minimum reward was good enough—steady and reliable.

When they got home, it was nearly midnight. Sharon Carter parked the car, contemplating whether she should offer her boss a massage or foot rub to help him relax after a night of fighting.

After all, her boss had been fighting all night and probably needed to unwind. As a dedicated secretary, she had to anticipate his needs day or night—whether fulfilling his wishes or being...

But Su Ye didn't seem interested in interacting with Sharon. He waved her off, got out of the car, and headed straight to his room on the second floor.

If Sharon didn't know that Su Ye already had two official girlfriends, she might've suspected he was gay.

However, knowing he had two deeply affectionate girlfriends made Sharon question her own appeal for the first time.

Is it my figure? My looks? No, it's not that I'm not good enough—I just haven't been bold or proactive enough!

Reflecting on her investigation of Su Ye's second girlfriend, Mai Shiranui, Sharon thought she had found the answer.

Maybe I need a new outfit—something bold!

On the second floor, Su Ye hurried into his room. It wasn't that he hadn't noticed Sharon's advances; sleep simply wasn't his objective.

Su Ye's goal was to "convert" Sharon, to bring her fully into his fold. Once she became truly loyal, he could use her as a stepping stone to expand the Red Shield Division.

To achieve this, he couldn't appear too eager with Sharon, as she might also be scheming to sway him to her side.

It was like a chess match between two armies—whoever acted impatiently would lose.

After a quick wash, Su Ye lay on his bed, waiting. Soon, the clock struck midnight, and the system's notification arrived as expected.

Ding! Event "Subduing Abomination" completed. You've received a [Girlfriend Card (Green★)]!

(Note: Star Cards have an increased chance of drawing higher-quality cards.)

As expected, another Green★ card. Was the system getting stingy? Not even a Blue★ card this time.

Su Ye muttered to himself but skillfully combined his three Green★ cards into one Blue★ card.

His gaze then lingered on his [Upgrade Card] and [Multiple Card].

Should he use both of these cards now?
