Chapter 94: Wu Sheng’s Shadow Meteor Fist
If General Ross had immediately sent reinforcements upon realizing his soldiers couldn't handle Abomination, it might have caused more city damage, but at least it would show that the military could protect its own, not just bully others.
Whether they succeeded or not, at least they would have tried.
It could have salvaged some of the military's reputation among the public, instead of making them always rely on superheroes in times of danger.
Even if the troops performed poorly, they couldn't be worse than that so-called superhero down there. All he's doing is dodging—he's not even as efficient as the soldiers.
"Why don't you give it a jump?"
General Ross glanced at Bruce Banner. The masked guy below didn't seem capable enough—only the Hulk could fix this mess.
Bruce Banner took a deep breath but hesitated.
Banner was indecisive by nature. If he'd been asked to jump at the start, he would have done it without hesitation.
But after being interrupted, half of his confidence and courage had vanished. Now, he felt there was no point.
"Maybe we should give that guy a bit more time," Betty Ross chimed in.
General Ross glared at his daughter, who was clearly siding with someone else, and felt even more frustrated.
What was the point of raising you?
Meanwhile, Su Ye on the street knew he had played around long enough. Teaming up with Abomination for some "urban renewal" was fun, but if this dragged on or the destruction spread, it wouldn't be worth it.
This was the Red Shield Division's debut. He couldn't let anyone think he was slacking off, nor could he afford to let their hero look weak.
Tactical dodging was fine as a strategy, but the victory needed to be decisive and clean.
He needed to showcase the Red Shield's ability to take on and win tough battles.
There would be plenty of opportunities for demolition later.
After hurling hundreds of cars, Abomination was slightly winded, his movements slower. Su Ye, on the other hand, used his agility and stamina to keep changing positions, steadily closing the distance between them.
Finally, when they were less than ten meters apart and Abomination reached for another car, Su Ye made his move. He rolled forward low to the ground, evading Abomination's line of sight and closing in on him.
Abomination, confused as to why Su Ye had suddenly vanished, felt a sudden chill on his chin.
That guy isn't planning another combo on my chin, is he?
As Abomination pondered, a powerful blow landed under his armpit.
Wrong guess—it wasn't the chin, but it was worse. Half of his body instantly went numb.
Next, a heavy hit to his chest made breathing difficult, forcing his body to bend forward. As he lowered his head, his chin met a fierce strike.
Can't avoid the inevitable!
Then came blows to the armpit, abdomen, knees, ankles, and even toes! Every vulnerable point below the shoulders, except the armored core area, was struck in quick succession.
Abomination's strength was formidable, but Su Ye wasn't weak either. Using the augmented power of a martial artist, he delivered precise strikes targeting Abomination's weak spots.
At that moment, even someone as physically imposing as Abomination couldn't help but feel an overwhelming urge to collapse—purely from physical strain.
His limbs weak, his back aching, his breathing labored—at this point, even if Su Ye stopped attacking, Abomination wouldn't have the strength to fight back.
Just then, Su Ye's attacks slowed momentarily, and Abomination felt a flicker of hope, thinking his opponent was either tiring or ready to stop.
Give me one minute to recover, and you'll regret this! Abomination mentally roared in frustration.
But before he could savor his relief, a sharp buzzing sound filled the air, followed by a flash of blue light. A powerful elbow strike, far stronger than before, slammed into his face.
After the initial elbow strike, a relentless flurry of punches and elbows rained down on Abomination's face. Within moments, he could no longer feel his own face.
Finally, he felt a massive surge of energy pressing against his chest before it exploded violently.
Shadow Meteor Fist!
Boom!
The immense explosion sent Abomination flying.
Unlike the earlier energy blasts from beneath, this explosion detonated directly beneath his chin, close to his chest. The impact was so intense that it left Abomination's head buzzing, his eyes rolling back as he passed out mid-air.
In front of him, Su Ye casually clapped his hands. "Alright, I actually put in some effort that time. Your hide is seriously tough!"
Seeing Abomination collapse, the nearby onlookers who hadn't fled far broke into cheers. They expressed their gratitude to Su Ye, thankful for their survival.
Meanwhile, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, led by Phil Coulson and Sharon Carter, arrived on the scene right on cue.
"Ye S—" Coulson began, but Sharon Carter tugged on his arm and whispered, "Wu Sheng!"
During Su Ye's battle with Abomination, Sharon had already looked up the meaning of his mask using a search engine.
The red Peking Opera mask of Guan Yu symbolized loyalty, integrity, and valor. Guan Yu was a famous general in Long Country's history, revered as the "Martial Saint."
Clearly, Su Ye wore the mask to conceal his identity. As a competent secretary, Sharon couldn't let her boss's disguise be easily exposed. Coulson could know, but others couldn't.
In English, Wu Sheng could be phonetically translated as "Woosung," which to Americans sounded like a typical Eastern name.
Coulson thought for a moment and understood Sharon's intention—using a fake name to conceal an identity? He was well-versed in that.
"Thank you for helping us defeat this monster, Mr. Woosung!"
Su Ye nearly choked on his salty soda. This mask is clearly Guan Yu's! How did I end up as Wu Song? That's a huge mix-up!
Guan Yu escorted his brother's wife on a perilous journey; Wu Song killed his sister-in-law and got exiled. Both are intense stories, but they're not remotely the same!
But it's understandable—foreigners struggle with Chinese names. Not everyone can perfectly nail a northeastern accent or casually drop a line from Tengger's Invisible Wings. Guess I'll let it slide for now.
