Chapter 29: Grand Opening and a Challenge
On Saturday morning, a private jet landed at New York Airport. Tony Stark, sporting his signature goatee and slicked-back hair, stepped out in a sharp suit.
Immediately, a swarm of reporters rushed toward him.
"Mr. Stark, are you here to meet Spider-Man?"
"Mr. Stark, rumors say you and Spider-Man have disagreed on who's the strongest superhero. Are you here for a showdown?"
"Mr. Stark, is it true Spider-Man is a young woman? Would you consider dating her?"
The questions, though speculative, were fairly neutral. But the local New York tabloid reporters had no such restraint.
"Iron Man, some say you're nothing without your suit, not even as capable as an average person. Care to comment?"
"Do you really think you're in Spider-Man's league? He recently defeated the Green Goblin, saving countless lives, while you were causing collateral damage on the freeway."
"Did you bring your toy suits this time? How many? What if Spider-Man breaks them? Are you going to cry?"
"Some say you're garbage, not even worthy of tying Spider-Man's shoes. Thoughts?"
"Is your trip to New York to acknowledge Spider-Man as your godfather?"
It seemed no matter the country, there were always instigators who thrived on chaos.
This fan rivalry had escalated to the media, turning into a full-blown spectacle, and now Tony Stark was feeling the heat the moment he stepped off the plane.
While Stark initially dismissed Spider-Man as a minor hero—rescuing a few people here and there without even revealing his identity—the constant comparisons had started to irk him.
One particular reporter caught his attention with a particularly disrespectful comment.
"You're fired," Stark said flatly.
"Fired? Are you joking, Mr. Stark?" The reporter looked confused.
"No joke. Your newspaper is now owned by Stark Industries. I'm your new boss, and you're terminated—effective immediately. Expect to be sued for defamation and malicious reporting. Good luck finding another job."
With that, Stark put his sunglasses back on and walked away, leaving the reporters in stunned silence.
Meanwhile, Su Ye had no idea about Stark's dramatic arrival. He was too busy with preparations for the grand opening of the Shiranui Dojo.
The dojo's opening had been delayed for two weeks to accommodate Su Ye's training, and now it was time to give back by ensuring the event was a success.
Dressed in white martial arts uniforms, Su Ye and Mai Shiranui stood at the dojo's entrance, welcoming guests.
"Su Ye, Mai, the dojo is yours now. I'm off to enjoy my retirement," Hanzo Shiranui announced, leaving the ceremony to catch up with an old friend in Chinatown.
The opening followed traditional Chinese customs, complete with lion dances, drumming, and firecrackers.
Other dojos from Chinatown came to offer their congratulations, including a young disciple named Shunying, who greeted Su Ye and Mai respectfully.
"Congratulations, Brother Su, Sister-in-law! Wishing the Shiranui Dojo great success!"
Despite the warm greetings, martial arts circles were never entirely peaceful. Rivalry was inevitable.
Once the ceremony ended, a young man with a broom-like hairstyle walked up to the dojo.
"A new dojo, huh? Perfect. I'm here to challenge you!"
