Chapter 159: Chapter 159: Dismantling the Spaceship with Bare Hands...
The Ravagers and the Guardians were hard at work, each preparing for the battle ahead. Yet with Thor's help, there was an unusual lightness in the air—a sense of hope that things might just work out.
"Nebula," Gamora asked curiously, "why isn't Thor here yet?"
"He said he'll appear when he's most needed," Nebula replied with a knowing smile.
Drax approached the group, his voice full of emotion. "I want to say… thank you. After my foolish mistake, you all gave me another chance. I'm grateful to have friends again."
Star-Lord patted his shoulder. "We're friends, Drax."
Drax nodded solemnly. "Yes. This tree is my friend."
"I am Groot."
"And this… rabbit…"
"Shut up! I'm not a rabbit!" Rocket snapped, exasperated.
Overhead, Ronan's massive spaceship loomed closer, casting a shadow over Xandar's capital.
The Xandarian fleet mobilized, forming a blockade with their smaller fighter ships. The fighters interlocked, forming an energy network to prevent Ronan's ship from advancing.
In the control room, Ronan observed the golden barrier before him, a sneer spreading across his face. "Xandarians… accept your judgment," he declared. "Your fragile peace treaty can't save you. This fire will consume you all."
Raising his hammer, now charged with the Power Stone's energy, he prepared to break through the blockade with a single strike.
Just then, one of his officers interrupted him. "Sir, an unidentified object is approaching at high speed! Should we intercept?"
Ronan looked at the incoming light, and an uneasy feeling stirred within him. He ordered sharply, "Shoot it down."
A swarm of fighters turned to intercept the incoming threat—Thor, flying straight toward them.
Thor grinned as he saw the fighter planes coming his way. "Ah, Ronan still doesn't learn. Let's remind him of the past!"
With a roar, Thor summoned the storm, and the sky darkened. Thunder rumbled, and bolts of lightning began crashing down on the fighters.
"Boom—boom—boom!" The fighters disintegrated under the intense lightning strikes, plummeting down in charred fragments.
Star-Lord, witnessing the display from below, gaped in awe. "Now that… is a real man."
Drax nodded, equally impressed. "I told you."
Rocket, noticing the danger to the Xandarian fighters, quickly grabbed his communicator and radioed, "Captain Thrall, get your fighters out of the way! He's about to clear the field!"
Thrall, Xandar's defense officer, glanced up at the blazing scene and shouted into his comm, "All units, scatter! Engage the remaining enemy fighters down below!"
He muttered to himself, "Can't believe I'm taking orders from a… squirrel…"
Meanwhile, aboard Ronan's ship, the unease was growing. One of his officers reported, "My lord, he's heading straight for us!"
Ronan's face twisted in frustration. He recognized Thor's intent—echoing the last time he'd been defeated by a powerful Asgardian. But now, he had the Power Stone.
"Fool! I am now the strongest in the galaxy!" Ronan shouted, raising his hammer. A powerful ray of purple energy surged toward Thor.
Thor scoffed. "You really think I'm like that 'weak woman' you faced last time?"
With a smirk, he dodged the ray easily and picked up speed, heading straight for Ronan's ship. With a resounding crash, he tore through the deck, ripping apart the massive battleship with his bare hands.
On the ground below, people watched as a streak of light tore a gaping hole through the ship. Ronan's vessel shuddered, trailing smoke and sparks as it lost control and hurtled toward the suburbs of Xandar.
With a thunderous crash, the ship hit the ground, erupting in explosions. Fortunately, the area had been evacuated, and casualties were minimal.
