I am Thor

Chapter 160: Chapter 160: Castle in the Sky

"Um… are they dead?" Drax asked, staring at the ruins left by the explosion where Ronan's ship had crashed. The remaining Guardians of the Galaxy and the Xandarians gathered around the wreckage, uncertain of what they'd find.

"Thor would never die!" Nebula replied confidently.

"I know," Drax clarified, "I was asking about Ronan…"

Star-Lord chimed in, trying to sound analytical, "He's probably dead. I mean, with an explosion like that, even Ronan wouldn't—" but he cut himself off with a wince as he spotted movement in the rubble.

Emerging from the smoke, Ronan's imposing figure stepped forward, his hammer in hand, glowing faintly with the power of the Infinity Stone. It seemed that he had managed to protect himself at the last moment, while his army had been completely obliterated.

"Ugh… Ronan survived," Gamora muttered, her face a mix of frustration and confusion. "But where's Thor?"

Meanwhile, across Xandar in a small public restroom, a golden portal opened, and Thor stumbled out, coughing and leaning over a sink.

"Hack… hack…" he sputtered, spitting out bits of debris, screws, and what looked like fragments of metal plating. After a rinse, he took a mouthful of water, only to spray it out as he tasted engine oil mixed with charred metal.

"Note to self," he muttered, "next time, let Captain Marvel handle the demolition."

Back on Earth, Carol suddenly sneezed in the middle of giving evacuation orders.

"What's wrong, Carol?" Jane Foster asked, concerned.

"Nothing, just… it felt like someone was talking about me." Carol brushed it off quickly. "We've got to hurry. Ultron's planning to raise half the city. The evacuation has to be done before he starts!"

In Sokovia, evacuation was already underway. Pietro was dashing from street to street, calling out to people to leave. He dashed into a police station, yelling, "We're under attack! Evacuate the city, now!"

At first, no one believed him, but when he returned holding an AK and fired a few warning shots into the air, panic ensued. The police scrambled to lead citizens to safety, well aware of the dangers in a war-torn region like Sokovia. Wanda, using her chaos energy, quietly influenced dozens of people at once, guiding them out of harm's way with her powers.

But Ultron was ready to disrupt their plans.

As Vision found Ultron and tried reasoning with him, the exchange ended predictably—with Ultron refusing to listen. Using the Mind Stone, Vision managed to kick Ultron out of the internet, but it was too late. Ultron had already activated his "meteorite project."

With a deafening crack, the ground surrounding Sokovia split apart, forming a chasm around the city center. The ground within slowly began to lift, breaking free from the earth like a massive island and rising into the sky.

Ultron's voice echoed across the floating city. "Isn't it a beautiful sight? Rising, then falling—an inevitable end. And you Avengers will go down with my meteorite. Once it crashes, the Earth will crumble beneath it."

The Avengers watched in horror as Ultron's steel soldiers swarmed, trying to block their path at every turn. They knew they needed to destroy the platform before it reached a critical height—but first, they had to evacuate the civilians.

"No! I won't let this happen!" Wanda's eyes glowed a fiery red as memories of her homeland flashed before her. Her fury overwhelmed her, and with a scream, she unleashed a wave of chaotic energy. Instantly, the steel soldiers in her vicinity disintegrated into nothingness.

Carol, who was nearby, stared in awe at Wanda's raw power. "Incredible… but so unstable."

Suddenly, several large ships appeared in the sky, making their way toward Sokovia to aid in the evacuation. It was the S.H.I.E.L.D. fleet.

Onboard one of the ships, Peggy Carter was at the helm, guiding the fleet while Nick Fury stood beside her, observing the scene. "Alright, everyone," Peggy called out, "get these ships in position. We're not letting this madman's plan succeed!"

As she gave orders, she muttered under her breath, "Thor, you're not here, but I'm not letting things go wrong."
