After listening to Jaxon's narration, Tony immediately focused on the key points.
"Jaxon, are you sure this bomb was made by Stark Industries? How could a bomb I made be a dud? Are you questioning my expertise?"
Jaxon couldn't help but chuckle, "Tony, I think you're missing the main point. The issue is that the missiles you designed ended up being used elsewhere."
"Now, you have to answer for that."
Tony had changed considerably after his encounter with the Ten Rings. He was now driven by a sense of responsibility and a desire to improve the world.
"Fine, I'll look into it. About ten years ago, it was still Obadiah who ran the company."
He looked at Wanda and Pietro, "I'm not trying to shift the blame, but I never expected my weapons to be misused like this."
Wanda retorted sharply, "Oh, the great Tony Stark! What did you think your weapons were going to be used for? Building a campfire?"
Tony was left speechless.
Jaxon intervened to defuse the tension, "Wanda, Pietro, I understand that you both resent Tony Stark."
"I'm asking you to give him a chance to uncover the truth."
Pietro scoffed, "I don't trust him, and I don't trust you. You captured us just to eliminate us."
"We won't back down. We'll have our revenge, even if it kills us."
Jaxon held up his hands in a placating gesture and turned his attention to Wanda.
Wanda seemed more grounded, less consumed by anger. After all, her brother Pietro was still alive, she hadn't fallen for a robot, and she hadn't lost children to tragedy.
"Wanda, what do you think?"
"I'll give him a chance to prove himself. So, can we go now?"
Realizing Wanda's reluctance, Jaxon decided to take another approach.
"If you leave now, how do you plan to get revenge? Tony has wealth, privileges, and that iron armor. How do you expect to get close enough?"
The two fell silent, considering his words, and Jaxon continued, "I can help you unlock the power within you. Then, confronting Tony Stark will be easy."
Tony looked uneasy, "Hey, Jaxon, you're joking, right? Are you saying she could overpower me?"
"Your technology is formidable, but this world doesn't run on technology alone. Just as you can't overpower me, you won't stand a chance against her once she's tapped into her full potential."
"Impossible! I don't buy it."
Jaxon explained, "The power within her is called Chaos Magic—an incredibly potent force. I think it's this power that altered the missile's probability, turning it into a dud."
"And if she fully masters this magic, she could manipulate the world itself, even alter reality."
"If she wants, she can reshape the world to her will."
Tony was skeptical but awed, "This doesn't fit with science at all."
"Which is why it's called magic."
Tony began to feel overwhelmed. It seemed he needed to study more than just technology—maybe even magic itself.
An anti-magic suit was starting to sound essential. But how could he create one without understanding magic in the first place?
Wanda was intrigued, "Can you help me harness that power?"
"The power has always been there; it's simply too immense to surface on its own."
"I'll help you find a teacher to show you how to control it."
Jaxon had a specific teacher in mind: the Ancient One.
Though a practitioner of white magic, the Ancient One also drew from the dark arts.
Chaos magic was certainly within her realm of expertise.
"Ancient One, if you can hear me, I need your assistance. If not, I'll bring some people to you shortly."
Suddenly, sparks appeared in mid-air, as if someone was slicing through space itself.
Tony and the others looked on in shock, "This world just keeps getting crazier."
"Tony, have you ever thought about learning magic? In one universe, you're actually the Sorcerer Supreme."
"Me? Learn magic? No thanks. Technology is all the truth I need!"
When Jaxon saw the Ancient One, he greeted her with deep respect.
"Ancient One."
The Ancient One sighed, "You're already tampering with time, Jaxon. Those who play with time risk being manipulated by it."
"I'm not meddling with time. I'm just taking charge of my own destiny."
"The future isn't set. Every choice, every action, alters it."
"Then I'll shape my own future, too."
The Ancient One sighed, clearly exasperated, "Do as you wish."
Jaxon could sense her resignation; perhaps she was already considering retirement.
It looked like she'd let her disciples and her successor, Doctor Strange, handle the repercussions.
"Are you willing to train her?"
"Certainly. As the Sorcerer Supreme, who else could guide her better?"
The Ancient One nodded, recognizing Wanda's potential and the chaotic magic she wielded.
"The energy in Wanda is Chaos Magic, a challenging force to control."
"I can only guide her in meditation, helping her to build mental strength and willpower. Then, she can begin learning how to control her abilities."
In the cinematic universe, Wanda had always struggled to control her power, relying on her instincts.
It wasn't until she met Agatha in Westview and obtained the Darkhold that she truly began to understand magic.
But if Wanda could receive formal training now, she'd become far more powerful.
If Thanos ever returned, he wouldn't stand a chance.
Jaxon nodded, "That's enough, but it's up to her."
Wanda, awed by the Ancient One's powers, looked at Jaxon with newfound respect.
"Wanda, would you like to study magic under the Ancient One?"
Pietro immediately protested, "Magic? I think she's just a charlatan!"
Though the Ancient One didn't take offense, she decided to show Pietro a glimpse of her abilities.
With a gentle motion, Pietro's soul was briefly separated from his body, floating in the air.
Pietro looked down at his own body, bewildered, "What's happening? What did you do to me?"
The Ancient One smiled kindly, "This is just a small lesson in respect."
Wanda could sense something was amiss but couldn't see Pietro's spirit.
"What did you do to him?"
"Just a simple spell to remove his soul from his body."
With a gesture, the Ancient One returned Pietro's soul to his body.
Pietro gasped as he awoke, visibly shaken by the experience.
He looked at the Ancient One with newfound caution, finally realizing her strength.
Wanda took a deep breath, "I'm willing to learn, but I can't leave Pietro unprotected."
Jaxon assured her, "Leave him to me. I'll set him up in an apartment near my place."
Pietro frowned, sensing Jaxon's interest in Wanda, "I don't trust you."
"You don't have many options. If he stays nearby, you can reach him easily when you return."
Pietro hesitated, then reluctantly agreed.
Still wary, he warned Jaxon, "Don't think I won't be watching you."
Wanda had decided to learn magic from the Ancient One, though she still worried about her impulsive brother.
She thanked Jaxon sincerely, "Thank you for helping us."
"Don't mention it. You're my goal. You're beautiful, powerful, and the world needs you."
Tony Stark rolled his eyes, "Jaxon, you're such a flatterer."
Jaxon had once told Tony he was the smartest man in the world and needed to make a difference.
Tony was starting to see through Jaxon's compliments, realizing they were often tools of manipulation.
"The world does need you, Tony, but you can't be so extreme."
In the comics, Tony and Cap often represented extremes.
Take the Sokovia Accords—Tony was willing to sacrifice personal freedom for security, even advocating for an Iron Man suit around the world.
Cap, on the other hand, championed freedom.
Both perspectives were valid, but both were also somewhat extreme.
"Me, extreme? Never!"
Jaxon let it go, noting Wanda's continued distrust of Tony.
"Tony Stark, here's your chance. Go get the proof and bring it to me."
Tony was exasperated. He hadn't wronged any of them, yet they kept coming after him.
Jaxon patted him on the shoulder, "Time to make things right."
"Or else." He added with a smirk, "She might just cast a little spell to keep you awake every night."
Tony stared at him in disbelief, realizing Jaxon was using humor to encourage him to do the right thing.
After Wanda's warning, she turned to leave, resolved to pursue her newfound path with magic.
