chapter 17
Episode 17
* * * *
“Hmm, hmm, hmmm~”
Hee-na hummed as she swept the floor with a mop.
It had been a month since she had become a full-fledged member of the Blue Dragon Guild.
People who were once strangers now locked eyes in familiarity. She’d gotten the hang of the building’s awkward layout. He was now more confident than anyone else in managing the fifth floor.
The floor sparkled and shined with the rhythmic movement of the mop. At the same time, the system window opened before her eyes, and her skill level increased.
In the meantime, Hee-Na had undergone quite a few changes.
First of all, her D-ranked skill “Endless Fingertips” became C-ranked. This was entirely due to her new job.
Since her job involves keeping the building clean and maintaining it, her skill level naturally increased rapidly. Seeing my skill level increase little by little made me enjoy working.
‘Earn money and improve my rank,’ I thought, ‘this is the best of both worlds.
The work wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. At least, not as hard as the first time I cleaned Hee-na’s studio.
And since she had the Bapshim skill, she was able to snack on homemade kimbap during breaks, which helped her recover from her poor stamina.
Hee-na shrugged as she mopped.
“Well, if it’s harder than cleaning a single room, there’s something wrong.
She also improved her skill in the ‘comfortable bed’ skill by organizing the common room on the fifth floor.
After a slow start, she’s been gaining nearly 50 skill points a day lately.
I haven’t figured out the mechanics of the skill yet, so I don’t know how it works, but it’s nice to see the progress.
“Good is good.
I’m already over 700 in the ‘cozy bed’ skill. At this rate, I’ll be over 1,000 in a couple of weeks, and I’ll be able to reach C-Rank.
The next change was to Hee-Na’s ‘Old Basic Room’. It was now level 9, and she was on the verge of reaching double-digit levels.
At level 9, hee-na’s home was cozy. Just walking in the front door seemed to melt away the day’s fatigue and revitalize her tired body.
The presence of her cute live-in snail, Oh Sae-yi, who greeted her, made her feel even better.
“Everything’s fine as it is, just wait until you come back.”
Hee-na muttered, worried about her brother, who still hadn’t come out of the dungeon.
Where the hell is he and what is he doing? His absence seemed to be getting longer and longer.
No wonder the Hunters of the Blue Dragon Guild didn’t look like themselves.
“He’s here again today. He looks so tired.”
Hee-na glanced at the Hunter who opened the door to the fifth-floor common room and entered.
“I heard there’s a separate break room for Hunters. They must be running out of space. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have to come to the regular break room on the fifth floor.
From what I’d heard, the Hunter break room was much more spacious and comfortable. I wondered how many tired Hunters had to come down to the fifth floor for that.
I was biting my tongue.
I heard a loud bang and something exploded. I looked up in surprise to see the source: the break room.
A burly Hunter was dragging a bed through the wide-open common room door.
“Oops, I left it all clean and organized……!
The bed, neatly made with freshly washed and dried bedding, was being trashed. No, the entire break room was a mess.
“What’s going on!”
“Well, the Hunters have been coming in and out of the fifth floor lately, and I knew it was coming.”
“So what?”
The staff chattered, startled by the loud noise. Hee-Na watched the scene with narrowed eyes.
“What’s going on? This is a public break room, and you shouldn’t be making a scene like this.”
One of the more senior-looking representatives stepped forward and yelled at Hunter.
But Hunter was undeterred and pulled two beds out of the break room. His strength was as impressive as his size.
“Mr. Choi, what the hell is going on?”
The rep finally said his name.
The man called Choi finally looked up. He was a middle-aged man with a bushy beard and a face that looked like it hadn’t been washed in days.
“You’ll have to take a look at this …….”
He rattled the beds, one in each hand, in a gravelly voice, and they rattled like rattles with his strength.
The supervisor raised a hand to his forehead as if in pain.
“Are you curious about the condition of the beds in the common room?”
Choi frowned at the question. He looked like a bear.
“I used the emotion skill, but the item information didn’t come up.”
“Why would you use an emotion skill on an ordinary object? It’s not an item, it’s just an industrial product.”
As the representative pointed out the problem, the Hunters who had been watching the fracas chimed in.
“Isn’t this an item?”
“If it wasn’t an item, how did you get the system window to say that the healing buff triggered when you laid down?”
“Yeah, but that’s kind of weird, because if it was an item, the system window should have said something like its name or rank, but nothing?”
“Yeah. Why didn’t anyone else think that was weird until now?”
The Hunters chattered, and Hee-Na realized that it had something to do with the Comfortable Bed skill.
“Hmph. I used that skill to make my bed……. Is everyone talking about that?
I cringed, feeling like I’d gotten myself into trouble.
‘I used the skill to improve my skill since I have a lot of beds, but I must have used it wrong.
The effect of the D-ranked ‘cozy bed’ was about six hours.
So Hee-na was using the skill twice a day, right after she got to work and right before she left, to increase her skill level.
“Shouldn’t I use the skill on other people’s things?
Hee-Na didn’t know much about Hunter, even though she had a Hunter brother. She didn’t know the common sense and manners that were tacitly accepted among Awakened.
‘Maybe it was incredibly rude to cast a skill on someone else’s item without asking permission.
Otherwise, that bear of a man wouldn’t have made such a terrifying face.
While Hee-na was in a state of embarrassment, Choi Seung-hoon put on an incredibly serious expression and crossed his arms.
“I, Choi Sang-hoon, the best appraiser in Korea, can’t fail to appraise this bed with my item appraisal skills. There must be something wrong with it, so I’m going to take it back to my workshop and disassemble it.”
At the sound of that, Hee-na stomped her foot while holding the mop stick.
“Oh no, that’s not an item!
It was just an ordinary bed that Hee-na had cast her ‘Cozy Bed’ skill on.
It looked like Choi Seung-hoon was planning to disassemble the bed in his workshop.
He lifted the large bed with a flourish, and the representative took a step back. No matter how high up he was, he was just a regular person.
Hee-na’s head spun at the sight.
‘Should I pretend not to know? Or should I confess that this was my skill?
Hee-Na quickly concluded.
“Tell him.
This was going to get too big to keep quiet.
If he, Choi Seung-hoon, realized that the bed was an ordinary product, she didn’t know what would happen.
Maybe I could talk to the higher-ups and do a more thorough investigation.
It would only be a matter of time before it was discovered that Hee-na had used her skills on the bed.
“They say it’s better to get hit first than to sell, and it’s better to talk about your mistakes as soon as possible when you’re new!
Hee-Na had been with the company for less than three months. This could be a blip on the radar. Maybe…….
Hee-Na squeezed her eyes shut and opened them. She sighed heavily and made her way through the circle of people.
There were a few stronger Hunters in the middle, making it very difficult to get through the gap.
“Hey, hey, hey! Get out of the way!”
“What are you doing, why are you interrupting me?”
“Because I, uh, I need to talk to you!”
After finally pushing her way through the crowd, Hee-na stood in front of Choi Seung-hoon, who was dragging a bed.
The people looked at Hee-na, who had suddenly entered the situation.
“Uh-oh. What can I do?
She blushed with embarrassment. But she had to say something.
“I……, Hunter Choi Seung-hoon? No, Choi Seung-hoon……, appraiser? That’s not an item.”
“If it’s not an item, then what is it? I look like a normal person, and you think it is, and you’re blocking my way?”
Choi made a fierce face.
He used to be respectful in front of the person in charge, but now that Hee-na was blocking his way, he let out a tic.
No matter how old you are, it feels bad to be talked down to by someone you don’t know. Offended, Hee-Na forgot her shame for a moment and put her hands on her hips, pretending to be a woman.
“I know what’s wrong with this!”
Hee-na’s confident demeanor made Choi look intrigued, and he pushed the bed down. He asked.
“What is it?”
Hee-na pointed at the bed and said.
“This is a normal bed.”
“Then why is there a buff on a normal bed?”
“Because I used the skill Organize Bedding on that bed.”
Choi Sang-hoon muttered in disbelief at Hee-na’s answer.
“You used a skill? A bed-making skill? Is that all there is to it? No, first of all, you’re an Awakened. Why is an Awakened acting as a janitor here?”
The crowd watching Hee-na and Choi Sang-hoon’s confrontation also murmured in disbelief.
Hee-na was embarrassed to talk about her abilities in front of the mighty Hunters of the Blue Dragon, but she spoke honestly.
“I don’t have any combat-related skills. My abilities are more about cleaning and organizing.”
