Hogwarts Alchemist

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: I just don’t like him

Potions class with Professor Snape was long and Boarding. Obelia noticed how Snape glared at Harry and started to drift off.

'Why did he hate Harry again? Wait, I heard he didn't hate him…' Obelia started to feel pain in her head and suddenly snapped out of her thoughts feeling a tap on her shoulder.

"What is it Draco?" Obelia asked, noticing Draco glance at the parchment on the desk.

'It's about to happen? What's about to happen?' She suddenly heard a bang and turned to see Harry and Snape who was looming over him.

"Potter! What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?" Snape's loud voice caused students who were previously slacking to all turn their heads and look at Harry. Obelia took notice of Harry's hands shaking and Hermione having her hand up straight. "Where would you find a bezoar?" Snape asked Harry another question, hearing nothing he asked another. "What is the difference between Monkshood and Wolfsbane?"

'Why not whisper the answers to Harry?' Obelia rolled her eyes and suddenly made eye contact with Snape sending chills down her spine. 'Fuck… he is gonna ask me…'

"Obelia, answer, since Potter seems unable to." Snape had a look of dissatisfaction when looking at Harry but quickly turned to Obelia waiting for her answer.

'He knows my name? Why? I haven't done anything yet!' Obelia stood up quickly in confusion once her name was called but proceeded to give a simple textbook answer.

"Well, asphodel and wormwood make a sleeping potion, also known as Draught of Living Death. You can get bezoar from a goat's stomach, which can save you from most poisons. As for Wolfsbane and Monkshood, they are the same plant also known as aconite."

Snape gave a small nod and turned around looking at Harry, "Fame isn't everything." He then glanced at the other students, "Well? Why aren't you writing this all down?" Snape proceeded to give lessons on how to deal with potions properly and guided the students.

'Holy, I never want to do that again…' Once Obelia sat down she noticed Hermione staring at her. 'Ugh… don't tell me she sees me as a rival now.' Obelia suddenly felt like she had become a character in a simple novel and frowned

Draco nudged her and she turned to look at him slowly. "Great job! Not only did you impress Snape, but embarrassed Harry Potter!" Draco smirked, and Obelia felt it was only because of a certain someone's misery.

"Let's see, we have had Transfigurations class, History of Magic class, and potions class. What was next again?" Obelia said glancing at Draco who was walking ahead quickly.

"Defense against the Dark arts." Draco turned around to answer, noticing Obelia looking down and walking towards him at a slow pace. "Is… something wrong?"

Obelia suddenly raised her head, Draco didn't have a concerned look on his face, it gave off a look of confusion more than anything.

"Yes, I hate the Dark Arts Professor already." Obelia wasn't lying and started to pick up her pace to walk side by side with Draco.

"Why is that?" He asked and Obelia just signed and nodded. "I just don't like him, I know and you just met but get used to me not liking people I've just met."

Obelia felt Draco look at her confused and further explained. "Sometime… I can feel things off about people, and I feel something off about him." Obelia and Draco suddenly walked at a faster pace together, "Something isn't right about him, my intuition is never wrong." Obelia was messing with Draco on the intuition thing, but she was still concerned about the new professor.

"Do you think… he's planning something?" Obelia turned to look at Draco who was suddenly whispering and smiled.

'Wow, I didn't think he would take me seriously, how cute.' Obelia nodded her head and continued. "Well if we suddenly see a troll in Hogwarts we might just have our answer."

Draco looked at Obelia confused, he thought there was no way a troll would be at Hogwarts, but the way Obelia seemed confident in her answer made him second-guess himself.

"What are you thinking? Let's go before we are late."

___

The Defense Against the Dark Arts class was nearly empty except for a few Ravenclaw students who sat near each other.

"I can already tell this class is going to be worse than History of Magic, and that's saying something," Obelia commented, slowly pulling out her textbooks. "I heard the position is cursed, no one lasts more than a year." She said, remembering hearing a few seniors chatting about it in the library.

"Well either they quit or something happens to them, it's a Hogwarts mystery." One of the Ravenclaw students commented, and Obelia nodded in agreement.

"Glad I won't have to deal with a fool for more than a year then." Obelia sat down near them, Draco quickly following.

"Come on, Professor Quirrell might just break the Hogwarts curse." They said sarcastically, and Obelia suddenly felt a sense of comradeship. "Others who have the class before have said he's quite timid, so I doubt he will be able to."

Obelia nodded and pulled out her pocket watch, " Class should have started already, is he seriously running late on his first day?" Obelia had no interest in staying in class if the professor wasn't even going to show.

'He and Voldemort must have been having a nice chat over some tea.' Obelia suddenly felt like laughing at the thought and turned her head to Draco.

"I bet he was busy fixing that large hat on his head he didn't notice what time it was." She said causing Draco to let out a small chuckle.

"It's a turban, I think it was a gift from an African prince." The Ravenclaw student said, glancing at the pocket watch in Obelia's hand.

"He will probably come in 5 minutes, give or take." They guessed and glanced at the time again.

"I say 3 seconds," Obelia said before hearing the sound of the large doors of the class open, the three turn simultaneously to see a sweaty Professor Quirrell.
