Chapter 17: To Survive

Nobu gathered himself and stopped crying, Nobu was very hungry and thirsty, he needed to find food, fire, water. For some time he could hide under the ferns, but he was in the bushes too long, a poisonous snake appeared there and, out of carelessness, it bit him. His knees shook from fear and pain, the snake bit him on the ankle. He remembered that a snake is food, overcoming his fear, he took it by the tail and hit the stone with its head. The snake began to wriggle stunned.

-Forgive me ... - he muttered through his teeth, while the poison penetrated his body and made him choke, and his heart beat faster.

- Damn .... What .... Khya! - his eyes began to darken, his fingers went numb and cramps seized him all over.

- Ryu... Nezu... I don't want to die... - he began to choke on his own saliva and tears. This feeling of approaching death is unmistakable. The strangling grip of death came close and sought to reap his soul, but Rollback had other plans. Nobu saw the light, and this only light was himself.

Rollback worked on all the most damaged organs, neutralizing the accumulations of poison in the kidneys and heart, restoring the function of tissues and the brain.

- Cough! - he vomited empty vomit mixed with blood. "I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive!" Rollback restored vital work, the poison was still absorbed and was in the body, but in minimal quantities, after some time it will come out completely.

- How did I do it? - Nobu caught his breath and asked himself the question. While the snake woke up and began to crawl away.

"Damn, my meat! You won't get away." Nobu grabbed her by the tail and pulled her closer to the grass. Where he found a stone and tried to split her skull to kill her forever. It was hard to do. He remembered how he killed those people in the village, now his hands were covered in blood and shaking from the thought of cruelty. After he almost died, he rethought his approach to the current situation a little. Apparently, his brain was working on the edge. No one would help him, and the sooner he realized this, the better for himself. "You just need to decide... Come on!" he struck the snake's head. These feelings were more disgusting than scary. Now he seemed to have changed, Nobu used to be more like 70% Ash and 30% Nobu himself. Now everything has changed, Nobu began to perfectly understand his feelings, thoughts, body. Everything has changed. The grass became greener, the air fresher, and his thoughts clear. That is why he managed to take control of himself and not panic. Of course, there is still a place for fear, the world is so huge and unknown, there can be danger at every corner, and the place is unknown and the biggest fear is that he is completely alone here. There was no Kurose, no Nezu, no Teruko.

"There is not even a knife to cut it, I will have to look for a sharper stone" - Nobu hung the snake on his neck, like a trophy, he even began to be proud of himself. He needed to find water and fire, otherwise he found eating raw meat disgusting and dangerous from his own experience. Quietly moving through the trees and bushes in a random direction, he began to think about how he survived the deadly bite of a poisonous snake. He remembered the image of himself, the very light in which it turned out that the battle of Ash and All For One was reflected, when the light transferred two abilities to him.

Nobu remembered the second before the teleportation, where Ash in All For One's body transferred his powers to him, and also how All For One used Rebound on himself, it was very similar to the ability that Nobu now possessed. "This power even heals poison, incredible. And what is this other quirk?" Unfortunately, he still did not remember using it in the fight between Ash and All For One.

"All For One could even heal the burns left by Ash. Now I understand why he treasured this quirk. Is there a limit to Rebound?" The bite site continued to tingle unpleasantly, and the already dead snake, out of muscle memory, continued to wrap itself around Nobu's neck and twitch its tail. "I think I'll take it off, maybe it's still alive and will bite, I doubt that Rollback will be able to save me a second time." Nobu continued to carry it by the tail more cautiously, he felt the effect of the poison, which is dangerous not only for children, but also for adults. Surely such poison could kill a dozen men.

"Such a huge power is contained in such a small creature." Nobu was surprised by the power of the poison. "I heard a roar similar to a tiger, did it not smell me? Apparently the dirt hid my scent." He was shaking at the thought that he could meet this predator. "If the snake almost killed me due to carelessness, then the tiger will simply tear me apart. Nobu gradually came to the idea that you can't constantly rely on quirks, he does not know their limits, and the second one is generally of an incomprehensible nature and it is unclear how to activate it.

And there is no denying the fact that these abilities are the key to survival, so he sought to master them as soon as possible.

"The Quirk Rollback itself, judging by the name, rolls back a part of the body to its previous best state. Probably so, but like any Quirk it has drawbacks that I do not know yet."

The jungle is all around, there are only enemies and danger. You need to use all the means to survive, everything you have. "You can't wait for salvation, no one will come." No matter how bitter it was for him to admit it. Gritting his teeth, he walked on at a very slow pace, so as not to make loud sounds in the quiet jungle. Now a shadow would run along the branches, now the grass would rustle.

- Phew....calm down. - the pressure of the jungle continues to pound his heart at a frantic pace. Nobu tries to calm down. Since the sun was gradually approaching sunset, he wanted to stop and try to climb a tree along the vines, one of the trees seemed stable. Climbing them was quite easy and surprisingly pleasant, but he almost fell when he saw a large colorful spider in the hole in the tree. Having comfortably settled on one of the rather large branches, he felt safer for the first time - at a height of ten meters. "The main thing is not to fall. You can also take some fern leaves and put them here and you can spend the night, but first you need to find water."

Nobu still felt weak and his mind was failing him a little after the poisoning, and in general, the state of the body of a five-year-old child after a day of hunger was not the best. Finding water in small quantities would not be difficult, there was quite a lot of it on the leaves of various plants after the rain, the main thing is not to run into spiders and snakes.

Nobu came up with the idea of making something similar to a jug-glass from a fern, it would be convenient to drink and collect more water at a time. "There is no fire, I will have to eat the meat raw, otherwise I will weaken even more." He sharpened a stone on another stone, using water. "It turns out that sharpening happens faster and better if you wet the stone." Having somehow torn the head of the snake from its body, he began to cut it up with a sharp stone. Of course, this is not a knife, whose blade was very effective at cutting. Not perfect, but he managed it.

He nervously glanced at the edible innards and swallowed. First he ate the small raw snake liver. It tasted a little bitter, wet and just plain unpleasant, but it was edible. Then the heart and kidneys, they were very small, so it was enough to swallow them without chewing. "I get it, the main thing is not to chew. I hope I don't get worms."

Watching the sunset, it became more scary in his soul from the realization that he was alone in this huge jungle.

"I have to survive, I have to get back to my family." A lonely tear fell from his eye, and he promised himself that it was the last tear he could afford. He wrapped himself in a leafy blanket woven from vines, because the nights were cold, and mosquitoes would prevent him from sleeping.
