Chapter 5: Chapter 005: You’re Digging Your Own Grave

"Very well. From today onward, my daughter Sakura—will be in your care, Lord Matou."

The short, elderly man, Matou Zouken, leaned on his withered wooden cane, a seemingly gentle smile spreading across his face.

"Indeed. I will personally raise her and pass down the Matou family's magic crest to her. You need not worry, Lord Tohsaka."

Watching Matou Zouken lead his daughter away, Tokiomi Tohsaka felt no sorrow—on the contrary, he felt a hint of relief.

For years, his greatest dilemma had been the fact that both his daughters possessed exceptional talent in magecraft.

Yet, his family's magic crest could only be passed down to one.

Now, the problem had solved itself.

His eldest daughter, Rin, would inherit the Tohsaka family's crest, ensuring she became a great magus.

Meanwhile, his younger daughter, Sakura, would not go to waste either—she would inherit the Matou family's crest, granting her a future in magecraft as well.

Although Sakura would undoubtedly feel sad now—perhaps even resent him as a father—Tokiomi was certain that one day, she would understand.

Feeling at peace, he smiled and returned to his study.

It was at that moment that he received a call from Kirei's father, Risei Kotomine.

The two had long maintained a strong relationship, a key piece in Tohsaka's plans for this Holy Grail War.

"Tokiomi, there was a violent incident in the western district—about a dozen people, all brutally slaughtered beyond recognition. Normally, I wouldn't even report such a thing to you…

"…but they were all Matou affiliates."

Tokiomi showed no reaction.

He simply remained seated in his chair, calmly pulling back the curtain behind him, his gaze following Matou Zouken and his daughter as they exited the Tohsaka estate.

Then, he smiled.

"No need to concern yourself, Risei."

"The Matou family, one of the Three Founding Families of the Holy Grail War, didn't even receive a Command Spell this time. Wasn't that the very reason Matou Zouken attempted to attack a chosen Master in the first place?"

"This is likely that magus retaliating.

"There's no need for us to interfere. All we must do is focus on preparing for the Holy Grail War."

A pause.

Then, his voice grew sharper.

"After all, my old friend…

"…the Matou family is no trivial lineage."

"True, they now have only one proper magus—Matou Zouken himself.

"But the fact that they remain one of the Three Founding Families means that even a single man is enough to uphold their entire legacy."

As he finished speaking, Tokiomi quietly let the curtain fall back into place, swirling the wine glass in his hand, his expression unchanging in the dimly lit room.

On the other end of the call, Risei Kotomine let out a small sigh of relief.

"You're right… besides, Kirei is returning soon, and the preparations for his summoning are complete. Our plans should begin shortly."

Hearing this, Tokiomi nodded.

The mere mention of Kirei Kotomine—his student and Risei's son—brought a rare chuckle to his lips.

"Indeed. Our advantage is already being secured."

"While other Masters are still struggling to gather relics and prepare their summons…"

He set his wine glass down, his voice deepening.

"…our Holy Grail War has already begun."

Just as Tokiomi expected, the Einzbern family had also caught wind of this unusual event.

However, knowing was one thing—caring about it was another.

And as it turned out, not everyone within the Three Founding Families was aware of the situation.

At the very least, one person had no clue what had transpired—

Matou Zouken.

Not for lack of awareness, but because his puppets were wiped out, leaving him without a single surviving crest worm to report back.

Thus, he had no idea what had happened.

Still, he wasn't particularly concerned.

His puppets were nowhere near the level of true magi—losing them to a novice magus was not surprising.

That said…

Tricks and strategies might work against his puppets, but against a true magus?

Against himself?

Zouken smiled at the thought.

With a glance at Sakura, his expression softened—as if he had already dismissed the entire matter.

In his mind, if this unknown magus chose not to attack, then it would simply be a minor inconvenience.

But if the magus did come knocking…

Then they were walking straight to their death.

And he wasn't the only one who thought so.

Even Kiritsugu Emiya, upon reviewing the reports, came to a similar conclusion.

These magus strategists were all bound by the limitations of their common sense.

And according to that common sense—

Summoning a Servant half a month early?

Forming a contract with them outside the Holy Grail War's standard conditions?

Controlling a Servant at full capacity before the war had even begun?

Impossible.

Thus, they all ignored the anomaly that was Reiji Souma.

And at that very moment—

Reiji himself was steadily approaching Matou Zouken's location.

He made no effort to conceal his presence, walking openly through Fuyuki.

The only thing hidden was his Servant, Berserker Cu Chulainn, who silently followed him in Spirit Form.

And soon enough, at the entrance of the Matou estate, Reiji's eyes locked onto the approaching Matou Zouken—

Alongside a small girl with jet-black hair. (Before the tentacle loli hentai)

A smile spread across his face.

"Well, well… You really kept me waiting, old worm."
