FGO System in the Type-Moon World

Chapter 23: Chapter 024: The Holy Grail Question (2)

"Nothing?"

The gathered kings did not believe him.

To enter the Holy Grail War—

Surely one must have a reason.

Servants answered the call because they had wishes.

Masters joined the war because they had goals.

No one participated for no reason.

"But They Don't Know The Truth."

They did not know—

That Reiji was an outsider.

That he was chosen before he even arrived in this world.

"You Don't Believe Me?"

Reiji's voice was calm and unwavering.

His golden eyes locked onto the kings before him.

"Dreams? Wishes?"

"I don't have any."

"Because Anything I Want—I'll Take for Myself."

His words carried no hesitation.

No doubt.

No weakness.

"The things I pursue—"

"I will achieve them myself."

"The places I want to reach—"

"I will arrive there on my own power."

"I Will Never Beg Some Wishing Machine for Anything."

Reiji smiled.

"I value freedom."

"I live however I want."

"I take whatever I want."

Then—

His smirk widened.

"You Wouldn't Believe Me, Would You?"

"I entered this war—"

"Because I simply felt like it."

"I came here—"

"Because I wanted to fight in the Holy Grail War."

"I wanted certain things."

"I wanted to seize the Grail for myself."

"That's All There Is to It."

Silence.

Artoria frowned slightly.

She could not understand such an outlook.

But—

Iskandar and Gilgamesh…

They simply laughed.

When it came down to it, there was really only one person here who didn't belong.

Iskandar, Gilgamesh, and Reiji—

Their views and ambitions might have differed in details,

But fundamentally—

All three of them pursued freedom.

Yet, Artoria was different.

She was the type of person who found happiness in the happiness of others.

As a knight, she was beyond reproach.

But as a king?

She would always face criticism.

Just as expected, she voiced the same ideals as in the original story.

And in return—

Iskandar and Gilgamesh reacted exactly the same way.

"That Kind of Rule—Isn't It Simply Tyranny?!"

Hearing her words—

Iskandar slowly rose to his feet.

"It seems mere words will not help you understand—"

"Perhaps I should show you instead."

He appeared ready to demonstrate something.

But before he could—

Reiji, who had remained silent until now—

Finally spoke.

"King of Conquerors—You Do Realize, Don't You?"

Reiji's voice was calm, steady, yet eerily decisive.

"I came here for one reason—"

"Because it felt right."

He slowly turned to face Iskandar directly.

His expression did not change.

Yet, the air around him—

Became impossibly heavy.

"Since this banquet was your idea—"

"Then I think it's only fitting… that it ends with your departure."

"I've already told you."

"I take pleasure in choosing graves for my enemies."

Reiji raised his hand—gesturing around.

His smile deepened.

"And this—"

"This is the grave I've chosen for you."

"To Think You Could Eliminate Me Here—Truly Arrogant, Boy."

Iskandar's eyes narrowed.

It was rare for him to show such seriousness.

His voice—

Carried a weight that had not been there before.

"Arrogant?"

Reiji chuckled softly.

Then, slowly—

He too rose to his feet.

"No, I'm simply saying what I believe."

"I'm simply doing what I desire."

"This isn't arrogance—"

"This is what it means to live honestly."

"And Now, It's Time to Act."

With Reiji's words—

Zhuge Liang and Tamamo's magic territories began shifting.

Berserker stepped forward.

Artoria, despite her anger,

Did not act.

Because—

She was a knight.

She would never interfere with another's duel.

Meanwhile, Gilgamesh—

Turned and left.

Without hesitation.

Before disappearing, he left behind a single remark:

"Hmph. Both of You Are Amusing."

"You were already worthy of dying by my hand."

"But very well—"

"I'll grant you the chance to settle your personal grievances first."

"I only fight against true heroes."

Yet, neither Iskandar nor Reiji paid him any mind.

They understood each other.

No words were needed.

"You Think It Will Be That Easy?"

Iskandar slammed his fists together against his chest.

Instantly—

An overwhelming aura burst forth, turning the entire world into a vast desert.

"Very Well, Reiji!"

"If You Wish to Stand Against This King—"

Lightning cracked through the air.

His war chariot roared forward,

His sword drawn,

His voice thundering across the battlefield.

"Tremble, My Undefeated Army!"

"Now Then—Shall We Begin?"

Reiji narrowed his eyes.

Truthfully—

With the boost from the Godspeed Chariot,

Even his own eyes could barely keep up with Iskandar's speed.

But—

That did not matter.

"First—Let's Even the Playing Field."

A split-second later—

Reiji activated his intangibility.

Simultaneously—

He cast three evasion spells onto his three Servants.

"Now Then—"

The clock struck midnight.

A new day had begun.

The skills Reiji had used against Diarmuid—

Had reset.

"Berserker—"

"Your one-minute invulnerability is back."

With those words,

Reiji slowly raised his Command Spells.

"By the Name of My Command Spell—"

"Unleash Your Power."

"By the Name of My Command Spell—"

"Attack Without Mercy."

"By the Name of My Command Spell—"

"Charge—Destroy—And Seize Victory!"

"Now Go, My Servants!"
