Chapter 24: Chapter 025: Iskandar’s Defeat! (Part 1)
Was Iskandar weak?
To be fair—
No. He was not.
In fact—
He was incredibly strong.
The original fight between Iskandar and Gilgamesh
had many external factors involved.
Iskandar's two greatest weapons were:
Gordius Wheel Chariot
A vehicle of unmatched speed— Destroyed before battle even began.
Army of the King: Ionioi Hetairoi (Noble Phantasm)
An EX-rank, anti-army Noble Phantasm. A legion composed entirely of Heroic Spirits.
Even Iskandar himself admitted—
Some of his soldiers surpassed him in power.
"His Only Problem?"
His worst matchup
Was Gilgamesh.
A King of Heroes—
Whose treasury contained the perfect counter to his army.
"But Here?"
Reiji and his Servants—
Had no anti-army Noble Phantasms.
There was no "perfect counter" here.
"Iskandar Would Be Difficult to Kill."
Zhuge Liang understood this best.
Tamamo furrowed her brows,
Realizing this battle would require effort.
Only Berserker and Reiji…
Wore identical grins.
"So This Is Your Army, Iskandar?"
Reiji tilted his head back slightly.
Eyes filled with confidence—
As if he were gazing down upon the battlefield itself.
"Berserker! At This Moment, I Permit You to Unleash Your Noble Phantasm!"
"Understood."
The black hound responded simply, showing not even the slightest hesitation in the face of tens of thousands of soldiers.
With a firm grip on his blood-red spear, he charged directly into their ranks.
"Zhuge Liang—Adjust the Battlefield."
"Understood."
With a flick of his wrist, Zhuge Liang activated his Noble Phantasm for the first time in full force.
"Stone Sentinel Maze!"
The moment the true name of the Noble Phantasm was released—
The desert and blazing sun vanished instantly.
In their place—
Endless yellow earth spread in all directions beneath an overcast, stormy sky.
"The Battlefield Is Now Sealed."
Eight massive stone pillars erupted from the ground, encircling the battlefield in an instant.
For a brief moment—
Iskandar's Ionian Hetairoi was completely suppressed.
As a legion, Iskandar's soldiers had varying levels of strength.
Some among them were even stronger than Iskandar himself—
That much was true.
But where there were strong warriors—
There were also weak ones.
For those weaker warriors—
The instant they were enveloped by the Stone Sentinel Maze, they collapsed unconscious.
The stronger ones managed to stay standing—
But even they felt an overwhelming weight pressing upon them.
"But If It Were That Easy—He Wouldn't Be Considered a Threat."
Neither Iskandar nor his soldiers lost their will to fight.
Their eyes, their spirits—
Still burned as fiercely as ever.
Iskandar's gaze was fixed ahead.
His warriors—
All followed his lead, staring in the same direction as their king.
"CHARGE!!!"
Even with their numbers halved—
Even with their strength drained—
They never ceased moving forward.
Zhuge Liang, having executed his strategy perfectly, now stepped back behind Reiji.
Tamamo, seeing the advancing army, briefly prepared to take action.
But—
Reiji raised a hand, stopping her.
"Tamamo—No Need to Act."
"They Have Already Entered Berserker's Hunting Grounds."
"Ehhh?! But I Was Just About to Try My Best!"
Reiji patted her head gently and smiled.
"There will be other chances. For now—just watch."
"Muuu... Since it's Master's orders..."
Tamamo pouted slightly but obediently lowered her head, her fox ears twitching.
She turned her gaze toward the battlefield.
"And There It Is—The Charge."
Iskandar, leading the charge from atop his Chariot,
His remaining warriors closely following behind.
Despite their numbers being cut in half,
Their formation remained as strong as ever.
Meanwhile—
Berserker gripped his spear, focusing his entire strength into his next attack.
Though Reiji had already permitted him to unleash his strongest Noble Phantasm—
After Zhuge Liang's Stone Sentinel Maze cleared out much of the battlefield,
He no longer needed to.
Berserker's grin widened.
"This will be a massacre. None shall live."
Though his voice was not loud,
It reverberated through the earth,
Waking the dormant spirits beneath the battlefield.
Many of Iskandar's soldiers faltered—
Some collapsed entirely.
"Unleashing the curse. No holding back... face despair...."
Berserker acknowledged them.
A king's army is always foolish.
And every king he had ever seen—
Had always been foolish as well.
His grip tightened.
His red spear flashed through the air—
Before it was hurled forward with all his might.
"Gae Bolg!!!"
