Chapter 3: The choice between killing and saving
POV Ragna
Ragna stood atop one of the buildings in the city of Fuyuki, his eyes shining with coldness. He was weighing two important options in his mind: should he kill Ryunosuke Uryu or save Sakura? Both options were significant to him, but ultimately, he made his decision. Sakura was more important.
Ragna's bright, cold eyes scanned his surroundings. Anyone who looked at him might have wet themselves in fear. He began to move toward the Mato mansion.
POV Zouken Mato
Zouken Mato was resting in his mansion when he suddenly felt the magical barrier around it break. With a smirk, he said, "Is someone brave or foolish enough to attack here?" His body transformed into flying insects.
When Zouken Mato saw the intruder, he realized it was a young man with white hair and turquoise blue eyes approaching him. He quickly recognized the identity of this young man: a Servant. Zouken Mato cautiously shifted his form and, as his body reformed, said, "Servant, why have you attacked here?"
However, Ragna, who had no intention of talking and was solely focused on killing, swiftly charged at Zouken Mato. His silver aura surged toward Zouken, leaving him no chance to defend himself.
Zouken Mato smiled and said, "You may be strong, but this is my territory. Here, I can defeat even a Servant." But as soon as his insects attacked Ragna, they froze and were destroyed upon contact with the silver aura. Zouken Mato's smile turned to fear, and he found himself unable to escape. His body and soul were quickly annihilated, and Ragna easily triumphed over him. He knew that sorcerers were like helpless infants against him.
POV Ragna
Ragna was disgusted by the existence of such ugly and disgusting creatures. He started walking around the mansion looking for Sakura. Suddenly he saw a little girl with purple hair sitting quietly in a corner.
Sakura Tohsaka, the younger sister of Rin Tohsaka, recalled how her life had turned into a hell. She remembered how Zouken Mato had trained her as the successor to the Mato sorcery. In this process, her hope and innocence had been stripped away.
Her eyes were devoid of hope, and she felt there was no escape from this dark life. The sound of footsteps brought her back to reality. Sakura saw a young man kneeling and gently stroking her head. The young man smiled and said, "Everything is alright now; I killed that insect."
These words unleashed Sakura's suppressed emotions. She cried in Ragna's embrace and fainted. She felt a heavy burden lifted from her shoulders, and for the first time in a long while, she felt peace in Ragna's arms.
Ragna, while holding Sakura in his arms, channeled the power of Silverin into Sakura's body and exterminated the insects within her. He sensed only one man in the entire mansion. It seemed that Shinji was not there; perhaps he would become a magus in the future, but for now, he was just an innocent child.
Ragna exited the mansion and, using Silverin, forged a sword. He held Sakura with one hand and raised the sword with the other. Light emanated from the sword as he swung it toward the Mato mansion. A massive explosion occurred, obliterating the entire Mato mansion and a hundred-meter radius around it. The ground trembled.
Ragna took Sakura to a cheap hotel. The source of his money was from the Mato mansion.
POV Kariya Mato
Kariya Mato suddenly felt a surge of magical energy and heard an explosion. He rushed to Mato's mansion and faced its ruins. This scene brought him to his knees.
Kariya shouted in despair, "Sakura!" and slammed his hand against the ground. Blood dripped from his fingers as he knelt on the ground, feeling as if the world had collapsed around him. This feeling of hopelessness and pain weighed heavily on him.
"Tokiyumi, it's your fault!" he yelled at the sky with a voice filled with rage.
