Chapter 2: Chapter 2: A perfect mimic.
The warm wind of what seems to be spring caresses my face and hair, causing the former to cool, while the latter flutters uncontrollably behind me.
"So they've remodeled Queen Marika's chambers to make a meeting room?"
Asking a question that is not a question towards Boc, I notice how my brain continuously sends me signals that the staircase should have ended long ago, though this one seems to continue.
Strangeness about the dimensions of the staircase aside, I look to the side and what is reflected in my retina is beautiful. Leyndell does much to live up to its title as a royal captain, whether in landscape, structures or colors. Huge buildings that look like they were made for giants, with a clear predominance of gold and white. Huge, finely decorated roads crisscross the city, while large, fully gilded statues stand here and there.
"It was a unanimous idea of everyone, Queen Marika's room is the one closest to you and if anyone wants to harm you, they must go through there."
"Certainly the right idea, I feel more and more interested to see them."
"They share the same emotions, just as I did before... Not to say that I don't currently feel that! Just that the first time! Sorry!"
Looking at him strangely at his behavior, I shake my head and after what seems like a few minutes, they finally finish the stairs. Marika's quarters is a circular room, with a golden domed ceiling and no doorway where I come in, though there is one in the opposite place, where it leads down to Leyndell.
Standing at the door that is not a door, I look in and notice that Marika's bed has been completely removed, instead there is a huge white marble table. Taking my eyes off the simple table, I see that the stone slats are finely placed on the sides of the room and that the silks that hung over Marika's bed now hang over the table.
"There is no one here."
Glancing sideways he confirmed my words again and I turned my face towards Boc, who at some point had approached the table, then tapped it gently.
"Come out, the master wants to see you."
"With whom... Wow so there you were."
Emerging from underneath the huge table, a black liquid mass begins to crawl out and settle on top of one of the chairs. The shapeless mass quickly begins to change and in a few moments there is in front of my eyes a young human. His silver hair reaches his waist, he has golden eyes that look like reptilian eyes, the musculature of his body is average and in height he barely reaches 1.75cm... He was a copy of me.
"Al greets the Lord of the Circle."
Bowing his body deeply, the mimetic tear introduces himself with the name Al or so I think.
"You call yourself Al?"
"Forgive my boldness in having taken two letters of your name, but this is the greatest honor I have ever had... To be able to mimic your form, great Aldrich."
"Easy Al, there's nothing wrong with your actions. Now to what we're interested in, is it just you here?"
Avoiding his gaze that seems to burn with unbridled fanaticism, I walked to the seat at the head of the table and took that spot. Adjusting my body to the cold seat, I signal for Boc to sit down and ask for the others.
"It is an honor that you think so, ahem, let me give you a report. Ogha has traveled towards Mount Gelmir to take control of the forces stationed there. Tiche is scouting the nearby tombs and places where the black knives may have escaped to."
Pausing his words to take a breath he obviously doesn't need, I give a slight shake of my head, as a sign that I am listening.
"Latenna has traveled to their place of origin to try to get help, considering that you have lent your hand so that the albinauticos could be born naturally."
"Worse than expected..."
"Certainly the situation is quite complex at the moment."
We both let out a sigh as we finished our words, yet another sign that he is the perfect mimic and understands me perfectly.
"Kristoff is maintaining internal order in Leyndell and in command of the city's army... well, the remnants of it. Lhutel on the other hand is protecting the only supply route we have, although due to lack of soldiers he has not been able to recover two of the dominula mills."
"Good, now only Finley is missing and I have a feeling it's not going to be pretty news."
"Ha... He 's right."
I could tell instinctively that it was going to be a complicated issue, it seems to me that it was because he started to tangle his hair with one of his fingers, something that looks familiar.
"Finley has marched off to Necrolimbo, where Nepheli Loux, one of the few people who has publicly declared her allegiance to you, is staying."
"Nepheli Loux... I see. She is that warrior of the wastelands, who used the power of storms and ended up with the regent's position in Necrolimbo."
"Yes, because of your help she has declared herself in favor of you as Lord of the Circle, though there are multiple problems plaguing Necrolimbo because of it. Former Godrick soldiers, Cuckoo mercenary troops, Raya Lucaria wizards and the invasions of the deformed Caelid monsters."
One problem after another, basically and in a nutshell we are totally surrounded. Malenia is in our rear, Rykard is in front, The Academy+Caelid Family have the lower part of the Dectus elevator under control and our only ally is in the same situation.
"Tsk, if we consider our situation the most important thing is to take full control over Altus Plateau as fast as possible. Hand me a map."
It may seem hasty to take action at this time, but my instincts and paranoia tell me to act quickly.
Rebels in broad daylight? That alone makes it clear that they are not afraid of Leyndell, which means they know about my previous situation, therefore this place must be crawling with spies.
"Do you intend to act for yourself?"
"Am I really a lord if I can't even control my backyard?"
Rather than the Lord of the Circle, who rules all the Middle Lands and Queen Marika's consort... I merely look like a dog cornered against the ropes.
I don't care much for that title of being Queen Marika's consort, but I can't let this whole mess reign, it's not something I would do... I think?
"Here you go."
Hearing Al's words, the mimetic tear, I lifted my face and fixed my eyes on the huge map taking up much of the table. Everything was bigger, though maybe it was always this huge everything and I'm just raving just as happened with the stairs.
"Our priority must be to get a population so we can put Leyndell's huge industry to use. We are also going to need more hands for the other two dominula barns and the exercise must be expanded if we are to have effective control of Altus."
The ideas seem to flow naturally in my head, though perhaps it is because it was so empty at first, that the moment I thought of something, it began to work at full speed to resolve it.
"I understand your words, but people are a rare commodity and highly controlled by their Lords. Lords who have not shown one iota of loyalty, except by lip service."
The words spoken by the mimetic tear are charged with an icy aura, he seems to hold a rather large grudge against those who have not sworn loyalty.
"You can understand them, despite the rise of a new Circle Lord our city is besieged by a dragon, we have no control over Liurnia, Caelid and neither do we have control over the Peaks of the giants... You don't have to be a genius to know my lack of authority."
They basically did what every logical person would do, seek profit and avoid loss, a basic instinct of every living thing. Of course I understand their actions, but that won't save them and punishment will come.
"You are not to blame! Those fuckers... Despite saving you from chaos and ruin, now they don't want to accept the rightful order!"
Al's teeth seem to chatter from the intense rubbing, while his eyes seem to burn with fire and it certainly starts to get a little scary.
"Calm down Al, it is simply an expected situation and one that we will deal with later. Okay, now that you've calmed down, point out Lansseax's resting place."
My first target was already decided, it would be Lansseax the ancient dragon, who is the closest and easiest problem to solve. Every problem that can be solved with my fist, really isn't a problem.
"Yes my lord."
Calming his breathing for a few moments, Al gives a small smile and with his index finger points to one end of the wall. The area where you fight Margit for the second time, just as you reach the capital of Leyndell.
