Dungeon Raider System

Vivian couldn't believe her eyes when she saw Uriel coming out of the bathroom mirror, but her disbelief turned into shock when he saw both Evelynn and Mary getting pulled by him. they were wounded, but conscious and despite being pale, their lives didn't seem to be in any danger.

"Mary!" Vivian threw herself at her sister.

"Sister!" Mary, who up to that point had remained somewhat composed, crumbled down crying like a child.

Uriel gave them some time to recover as he sat on the couch drinking one of his energy drinks. He was upset, no, he was actually angry.

Killing the cryptid felt good, but that only lasted until he received the notification that a portion of his reward had gone to waste. Not just that, he also lost Thunderbolt Iron forever and it wasn't just a powerful weapon, it was also a priceless artifact of incalculable cultural value. But worst of all was that even after waiting a long time, the cryptid's entity level orb never appeared.

All he wanted now was to get his reward and go back to the Dungeon Raiders headquarters.

"I don't get it, why did that creature write your sister's name all over the place?" Uriel asked trying to take his mind out of his losses.

"It's her name, she's," Mary hesitated for a couple seconds and decided not to say the name she shared with the cryptid out loud ever again. "it's also her name."

"Oh! I see..." Uriel now realized that both Vivian's sister and the cryptid shared a name.

"I hate you! How can you be so dumb!? I almost died and now I'll be forever blind!" Evelynn interrupted their conversation.

"It's not my fault you brought up that game." Mary tried to excuse herself, but she did feel bad about her friend.

"Idiot! You're an idiot! You were supposed to get killed, not me! All of this, your new apartment, your acceptance to college and even your friend, it all should have been mine! I'm smarter and prettier than you! But life is so unfair, all it will take for you to recover your sight is to go to a hospital, but something like that is impossible for me, I'm not even an evolved.

I lost everything because of you!" Evelynn's face crumpled like she swallowed a hard pill.

"So you set this up," Uriel nodded knowingly.

"And what if I did!?"

"Nothing, I can't really blame you for using whatever resources you have, just like you can't do the same to other people. She's dumb as a rock but I think she's prettier than you." Uriel pointed out, but instead of putting out the fire his words stoked Evelynn's anger even more. She began crying and shouting, completely out of control until Uriel decided he needed to do something about it.

"Tell me, do you really think you lost everything?"

"Yes!"

"I get it, but don't worry, I'll make everything better."

"Y-you will?"

"Sure." She said as he pulled out his gun and fired it point blank, killing Evelynn on the spot.

"Why did you do that?" Vivian desperately shouted.

"What is it? What happened!?" Mary asked as she was unable to see anything. But it was a good thing she couldn't see, or else she would have seen Uriel's murderous face. It showed that he was completely unfazed after killing someone in cold blood.

"What? he said she lost everything and we need a scapegoat. We can't let the authorities know what happened here. We can't let them learn how to summon a cryptid, which is already enough for us to cover this up, but without the cryptid's flux orb we have no way of proving it was a cryptid's doing. Let's just pin this on that woman and forget this ever happened."

"How can you be so cruel." Vivian looked at him with disappointed eyes.

"No," Mary shook her head. "He's a hunter. You have no idea what's out there, he's only doing what needs to be done. I haven't been forced to kill anyone directly yet, but I've abandoned some companions which is essentially the same thing."

"Mary!" Vivian covered her mouth trying not to cry as she realized that her little sister wasn't having the easy time she always claimed.

"Having a scapegoat will make things safer for us. Besides, she brought this on herself." Uriel shrugged and proceeded to call Nika to pick him and Mary up. He wanted to make sure she wouldn't spill the beans on what really happened and Nika was among the few people he trusted.

"I was just going to bring that up. That thing was an entity level cryptid and it didn't drop a flux orb, maybe because it took us to another dimension or place, I don't know. Still, I don't think you have enough money to cover that. If you had, you wouldn't be living in here, even if this looks nice it's still in the slums."

"That's correct, but I'll find a way to repay you! I swear!" Vivian blurted out.

"Mister, I'd like to thank you for what you did for me. Please, tell me your name and I'll make sure to repay you on behalf of my sister."

"I'm Raider." Uriel said the first thing that came to his mind, silently thanking his friends for making up such a convenient character.

Vivian looked directly at him with suspicion. She knew his real name, but she wondered if he could really be the person that was on everyone's mouths all over the city. On one hand it made sense, he was by far the strongest person she ever met. But then, he was also younger than her and he didn't seem like the arrogant type.

Of course, he also didn't seem like the type of person who would murder someone in cold blood, but before she could even finish that line of thought Nika showed to their doorstep.

Before taking Mary downstairs, she respectfully greeted Uriel. It was a cold but formal salute since it was the first time Uriel even texted her after a long while. That was all the confirmation Vivian needed, he really was Raider.

"I don't think there's a need for me to tell you that you shouldn't tell anyone about what happened here. Anyway, I'll come here sometime later to discuss payment." Uriel said with a greedy grin that could have easily been confounded with a lustful one as he shut the door behind him.
