Chapter 292 Bloody Mary
Now that Uriel's eyes were completely healed, he was also able to find both girls hugging each other at a distance. Their eyes were shut close and their faces were covered in blood, their skin was also so pale that Uriel almost thought they were also cryptids but soon he noticed they were dressed in casual clothes instead of the cryptid's white robe.
He also realized killing Mary wasn't possible without consequences.
They looked pitiful, but within Uriel's heart, or what was left of it, there was no place for pity anymore. It wasn't pity or mercy the reason why he couldn't kill her.
Not only were they both innocent humans, he already knew one of the girls. In fact, he'd seen her plenty of times because she was his classmate and also Tina's close friend.
'If I kill her, Tina will hate me even more.' Uriel thought, but struggled to decide if that was a good or a bad thing.
Mary didn't know it was Uriel who came to her rescue and she also had no clue that it was him who bought the abandoned factory from her sister. All she knew now was that her only chance at making it back alive rested on the hands of the hunter that just showed up.
"May I know your name?" Mary broke the silence with a question.
"No." Uriel's response was as cold as his eyes as he looked at the helpless huntress in front of him, then he glanced at his sword as if looking for an answer about what to do on the rusted blade.
The fact that it was rusty was a surprise to him, but then he remembered that the last time he used his sword he was under the effect of Water warlock's blessing and he overcharged it with flux resulting in the the blade almost falling apart on that same spot.
The sword was rendered useless, but he had no time to think of an alternative as the ghostly cryptid appeared right behind him and he mindlessly swung his blade at the cryptid causing it to shatter into a hundred pieces.
"No! Thunderbolt Iron!" Uriel shouted. When the cryptid came at him, instead of waving the worthless hilt of what used to be his strongest artifact, Uriel gritted his teeth and received the hit full on.
The cryptid meant to claw at him, but since he made no effort to even dodge the result was a powerful slap that disfigured his face, but he was able to recover immediately and countered with one of his own.
His strength was sub par compared to the entity level cryptid, but the last remnant of Thunderbolt Iron was able to channel flux for the last time before crumbling to pieces just like the blade.
The cryptid gestured a scream that came out completely silent and Uriel attempted to keep pressing on the attack, but something was off. His right and left side had shifted and instead of hitting the cryptid with his right hand like he intended, it was a short jab with his left.
The harmless fist bounced off the cryptid's face and it clawed yet again at Uriel, only this time he activated his Dash skill effectively turning the tables on the mysterious creature. Uriel unleashed a flurry of fists, each causing little to no harm but the damage kept adding up.
Bloody Mary screamed silently again, shifting left and right once more, but there was no point in doing so under the merciless rain of punches. Dodging was impossible, running away was futile, all it could do was to counter however it could while trying to endure relying on its inherent regenerative abilities.
But Uriel too had the ability to regenerate and at a much faster pace than the cryptid, since the place was filled with steam.
Mary and Evelynn screamed the whole time, every thunderous fist caused them to flinch in blind fear. They both attempted to ask Uriel what was going on, but he refused to reply as he was too focused on the fight.
It was pointless for him to think whether or not he'll have to kill Mary until the cryptid was dead. After all, the cryptid caused him a great deal of harm with it's uncanny ability and he was owed some payback.
The fight raged for a couple minutes and the cryptid that used to look like a woman was now a bloodied pulp that resembled a surreal painting. It's face so demolished it couldn't even show expressions and the former white robe was ragged and covered in blood.
If Mary was capable of seeing, even she would have felt pity for the cryptid, but Uriel was incapable of experiencing pity for such a lowly creature.

Eventually, Uriel was growing tired of repeating the same moves over and over. Even if the fight so far hadn't taken so long, while using Dash he experienced reality at a different pace and it seemed like a longer time. But just like Uriel was saving the best for last, so was the cryptid.
The unrecognizable mess that was where the cyrptid's face used to be reformed itself on an instant, but only on the lower side, revealing a wide toothless grin as the blood that had been scattered all over the place began pooling in small drops in the air.
Every single drop of blood was getting pulled into the air, even the dried blood on Mary's and Evelynn's face, even the blood on Uriel's fresh wounds.
By the time Uriel came to realize it, it was too late and he was pierced by several blood spikes all over his body as he performed his last punch.
One terrible scream later and all the blood rained on the smooth black soil. Then, Uriel retreated his pocket knife from Bloody Mary's eye socket and the cryptid fell lifeless.
