Chapter 13: Heart's Inferno
Ignoring the strange inferno in his chest Tang Wulin refocused his attention on the battle at hand, his senses working into overdrive to find even the smallest trace of her all whilst ignoring the storm of attacks raining on his body, some even attacking his genitals, as they had no effect.
He focused intently on his senses, examining the area for any unnatural sounds. It was difficult as Gu Yuena's control and experience of the elements were immaculate but it wasn't impossible, he had already done it on a lesser scale.
"Skrt." The sound of a rock being moved a millimeter entered his ears, his body instantly reacting and approaching the opponent. Light shimmered slightly as her control failed for a moment revealing the look of shock in her eyes.
Bringing his fist down he shattered her space lock weakened by a mix of fear and surprise, time slowing down for the two of them as his fist moved closer to her inch by inch, its intense power instilling the fear of death in her as the compressed wind from the blow ravished her hair.
Supplemented by her desire to survive her mind worked overtime, her spiritual power increasing rapidly, as her body fell into a silver portal and a wall of black ink like liquid rose from beneath her to weaken the incoming blow.
Time returned to normal, her body practically shot out of the portal she had created and into the ground, the earth softening beneath her, while an explosion erupted from where she previously stood, the shield of darkness she had created nullifying most of the impact resulting in a relatively small explosion of dust.
'All seven elements. Danger increased to 100%. Defeating her without opening |Level 2| is impossible.' Tang Wulin noted, taking note of the darkness wrapping around his arm. Even as it disintegrated it held onto him tightly, squeezing and weakening his limb, his energy escaping him and into the shadow.
Ripping his arm out of the darkness he turned his head toward his opponent. He would not be able to win this fight as he was not willing to go into |Level 2|. He was sure he wouldn't lose but it appeared that he wouldn't win there.
'Defeat chances increased to 16% if she can merge all seven basic elements.' Tang Wulin noted. It was an impossible notion however that was just how dangerous such an attack would be.
In actuality, the danger of such an attack wasn't unexpected, the fact that he wouldn't be defeated by it was. The combination of two elements was impressive, four nigh impossible, and seven never seen before in history besides the Seven Colored Thunder itself.
Dashing forward once more Gu Yuena prepared herself to dodge, already mentally gathering the spatial coordinates however, both paused in place when a flurry of ice that radiated the same sharpness of a high end blade blocked Tang Wulin's path.
"That's enough." Wu Zhangkong said seriously, an ice blue sword radiating an intense chill and extreme chill that froze the surrounding ground around him. Beside him the students were shivering in place from pure fear, few even noticing the chill coming from their teacher.
The ice blue barrier surrounding the two monsters had been mostly shattered, cracks webbing across the entirety of its body. The ground was destroyed as well, dozens of craters resembling the fall of meteors littering the land. Not a single blade of glass was spared from the destruction.
It didn't resemble the destruction two nine year olds could cause, it seemed to be the result of a battle between Spirit Kings specialized in combat. Compared to their classmates who were slap fighting until the fight began it was worlds apart.
"Did I pass?" Gu Yuena questioned with a prideful smirk on her face. It was obvious that there was no way she would be declined. Even if he did she could just go to a different teacher or even the principal and demand he add her.
"Yes. As your first task, fix all the ground you just broke." Wu Zhangkong demanded, his eyes daring her to challenge him. He had yet to put her into his roster, he could easily go back on his word.
Clicking her tongue she began to work, using the earth element to flatten out the ground once more. She would have liked to decline using her low energy reserves as an excuse but she was sure he would make her meditate and then do it so there was no point.
"Once she's done you both can get lunch early. As for the rest of you! Finish your battles within the hour or you'll be skipping lunch!" Wu Zhangkong threatened cruelly, completely lying to them. Lunch was important as it fueled their growth, he wouldn't allow them to skip it.
Standing in place without any attempts to put on a new set of clothing, only removing the dir from his body using soul power as he wouldn't be allowed in the cafeteria if he didn't, Tang Wulin went over everything in the battle and fixed all the mistakes he had made.
Fighting somebody with all the basic elements was a new experience as he never did that in his previous life and in his current life, he hadn't had many chances to fight others. Even if it couldn't be compared completely, the experience would be sure to help him in future battles.
Certain things such as Gu Yuena using wind and light to hide her traces generally wouldn't be possible however just the experience of fighting somebody with the space element was invaluable. It was a rare power however it was extremely difficult to fight against and this experience would help him do so.
The same couldn't be said for Gu Yuena though. Physical fighters like Wulin were everywhere, she would never lack experience battling them. The only thing that could possibly count as a new experience would be here trying to fight around Wulin's indomitable strength and endurance.
With the space element dodging his attacks was difficult but possible however breaking through his defenses was nigh impossible. Nothing she did hurt him, not even the explosion of four elements that she thought would take him out of commission did any lasting harm.
For that reason, neither was truly the victor of this conflict. They were both the losers.
