Chapter 13: Russo-Japanese War part 4

WOOOOSHH BOOM BOOM

Explosions rang out in the City of Sinuji as Artillery fire rains out nonstop. The Russian Army lead by General Michael has a harder time to crack the city than the other fronts as the city is right at the Yalu River overlooking the border.

To avoid going in strait from the river they first crossed it further away from the city which gave it enough time to fortify its defenses. As its a Major city right at the border so its heavily defended.

But the Japanese being caught of guard didn't have enough time to call for more reinforcements and so anyone who would answer didn't know of the dire situation going on. The good think about having this city right on the border and at the River is that the Russians surrounded it quickly and didn't have to do it entirely as the river itself is a wall of water not letting anyone escape in its direction.

The problem was of the amount of troops defending it. It's theorized to be about 50 to 60 thousand. That is the problem as the Japanese hide within civilian arrears making any advances costly in civilian death.

That would be the case if the Russians had the heart to try reduce their deaths. In war nothing matters except your victory and the enemies downfall. The Russians did have some pity for the innocent but what made them hesitant to rush in the City is that the Japanese have the perfect ambush area and urban combat is not favorable to them.

That's why the Artillery is firing for about 2 hours without stopping for a moment as the Russians systematically destroy the will and lifes of the defenders.

"General the city is ripe for taking we can initiate our attack by Infantry." General Michael didn't turn his head to look at the officer as he is thinking how to take the city without losing to many men.

"Hmm, no it not time yet. Order the Artillery to focus fire at the Industrial district of the city and have them use our new munitions."

"But sir it will cause an explosion that would rupture the inhabitants ears." The Captain had some sympathy for the people in the City.

"Captain I think they already had their ears fall of at this point so any more Explosions wouldn't change anything. Next time don't talk back, obey my order am I clear."

"Yes Sir and I apologize Sir" The Captain retreated hastily to relay the Generals order to the Artillery gunners.

General Michael is a strict leader and expects his men to follow Military protocol to the T and not question their superiors orders.

Being from a old Nobel Family that dates back to the Rurik Dynasty, his family was one of the ones who voted for the Romanovs to take the Throne after the last Rurik died and left the Throne vacant.

He prides in himself as a expectional leader as he was raised to be a General as per family tradition. Every family head was a General and the heirs are expected to be one as well. The Family which Michael comes from are staunch loyalists to the Romanovs and are willing to die for them.

Michael is the same as he does everything in his power to please Anastasia as the next Empress even if it means giving up his privilege of life.

So as the Artillery focused at the Industrial district which has been receiving no bombardment since the start of the siege went up in flames as screams of fear and horror echoed as the Artillery fired the new experimental munitions which caused the highly explosive gasses in the district to explode causing the district and the Japanese HQ to explode in flames burning everything.

The Japanese set it up there due to it not getting bombed but now it's completely gone as man and metal burned due to the flames. The new munitions are personally made by Anastasia as they contain highly flammable gasses that explode violently in pressurized environments. Add that with a explosive and boom you got a new recipe of death and destruction.

The District is completely gone up in flames as the Japanese troops who saw that swelled up in horror and discarded their wapons and surrendered not wanting to die in such a gruesome way. The Comanders had died in the explosion as their screams and of those who where there still echoed in the minds of the men who still live.

The City fell shortly after as the Russians entered and met no opposition as the Japanese had completely lost their will to fight. The light of deficiency was not present in the eyes of the former defenders now prisoners of war.

As the prisoners got loaded in trucks and send back to Russia to serve as laborers the Army continued to go and meet up with the rest of their comrades who fight in other cities and to pierce deeper into Korea.

While each General leads one front they can't be present at all cities so they had their officers to lead the assault on minor towns and cities surrounding the Major ones.

Thus successfully winning the battles and regrouping with their Generals and main forces as they went deeper into Korea.

The time to attack the heartland has come.
