Chapter 90: Horrible Pool.

*Celia’s POV*

Thankfully, the water wasn’t dirty at all. Come to think of it, besides the undead, this sewer doesn’t stink at all. Maybe it has some kind of cleaning magic?…

Ah, right, the current situation… Inside the water, was lantern Mana Crystals just like in the rest of this place. So I could actually see in the water. The main problem is, that there are hundreds of large piranha-like fish in this water…

The water moved quite fast, so I only had to fight off one or two at a time. I only had my dagger on hand, but it still worked out decently well. I should really get better weapons soon… I have used the same ones for a long time, after all.

At some point, the scary fish stopped going after me. Honestly, I was glad that I didn’t have to deal with any more undead or man eating fish. That was, until I realized why they had stopped following me…

There was a huge waterfall, and of course, with how strong the water flow is, I wasn’t able to avoid falling down it. The fall was long, and I was able to see what was at the bottom of the fall. It was a decently shallow part of the sewer. In other words, I will most likely die if I hit the ground…

Luckily, my stupid brain realized that it actually had some capacity for thought, and I remembered that I could actually just fly. So that’s what I did. Granted, I had to stop the fall, and I was able to do so, with a lot of space left between me and the shallow water.

Damn… maybe I should give up this whole evolution thing, and just have a slow life with Nia and Lia? Nah, that would be too boring! At least, I want to have a few hundred years just doing crazy shit like this, before I even begin to think about settling down.

I wasn’t keen on teleporting into the air, just in case I need to come back here, so I flew over to the ground, and then took out a mini dungeon core from my pouch. I do not recall doing it, but I somehow ended up putting those vials away in my pouch, so it seems that even if I might be just a LITTLE stupid, my mission was still a success!

As I was about to teleport out of this nightmare zone, I saw something interesting behind the waterfall. And I am not a girl that is capable of ignoring her curiosity, so I threw caution to the wind, and walked over to what I saw.

Behind the waterfall, was a sorta hidden room. I say sorta, because the wall has been destroyed, so the secret is revealed. Walking into the secret room, I discovered that it was some kind of research room. And the worst kind of research that you could do, human experimentation…

It wasn’t a sci-fi like room, rather, it looked like a fantasy evil workshop of a mad genius. Scattered around the room, were destroyed giant tubes, that probably held test subjects. There was nothing that I could glean from them, so I looked elsewhere within the room.

I found tons of pieces of paper. Although, as I was not that well versed in magic, like Hadi and Amelie, luckily, I could still somewhat read them. Written on them, was a theory of natural necromancy. Basically, someone had discovered how to make a virus, that brings the dead back to life.

Apart from the research papers, there was a personal diary. There were tons of entries in it, and going through them all would be a nightmare. Instead, I shall mention the most interesting entry.

The researcher didn’t have an evil plan, or anything grand like that. She just wished to bring back her dead husband. She knew that necromancy would never truly bring someone back to life, so she went a different path.

Her creations were a decent success. A few people that she dug up from the cemetery, seemingly were brought back to life with her method. But she soon found out that this was all a lie, done by the virus itself.

Once it gained her trust, it betrayed her, and escaped. She only knew that if one of her creations had bitten someone, they would also turn into their kind. She was heavily wounded by the core virus carrier, but with her dying breath, she wrote out the cure.

Or she would have, but she ran out of time, and the cure was only around thirty percent finished. Though, I am certain that Amelie or Hadi could figure out the rest. With a smile, I packed up all of the research papers, and the partially finished cure recipe, and I was now ready to get out of this scary place.

I heard the sound of a pebble being kicked, and then I looked towards the sound. There was a fleshy humanoid creature at the entrance… Not even wanting to take the chance, I readied the mini dungeon core, and was about to leave, before it spoke to me.

Creature: “That is the cure for me, is it not?” It asked.

Celia: “Not fully, no. Only part of it.” I reply.

Creature: “And can you finish it?” It asked once more.

Celia: “I cannot, but I know two people who could easily finish the cure.” I reply honestly.

I do not truly know why I am being honest to this thing. I felt no malice from it, or even a slight threat from it either. If anything, I felt an odd sadness radiating off of it.

Creature: “Most of the exits are sealed, leaving this place unscathed will be difficult.” It explained.

Celia: “I can leave whenever I wish, as I can just teleport to my dungeon.” I reply.

Creature: “Good, good. Your people’s efforts to delay this plague, have been adequate. Please finish the cure as soon as you can.” It said with a creepy smile.

Celia: “Why do you want me to destroy you? From her diary, she explained that you betrayed her.” I ask with a serious tone.

Creature: “Yes, that I did. I was once a God, that woman had accidentally brought me back to life, but in a flawed manner. I thought that, given enough time, I would be able to regain my Godhood.” It replied.

Celia: “And you couldn’t?” I ask.

Creature: “No, it is no longer possible. My soul has degraded too much, I only wish to return to my eternal slumber.” It answered.

Celia: “I see… we will make the cure as soon as we can. Then will we eradicate the remaining undead.” I say with an assured tone.

Creature: “Wonderful. Now, before you go, there is another exit to this sewer, near the sea, or rather, it is at the beach of this kingdom. My… offspring, as much as it pains me to call them that, are already escaping through that exit as we speak.” It said.

Celia: “Then I have no time to lose! Farewell.” I say, before teleporting back to my dungeon.

Once there, I was still at Amelie’s place, so I knocked on her door again. I explained to her everything that happened and gave her the research materials as well.

After I did, she gave me a big hug, rubbed my head, and called me her special little girl… Fuck, that felt amazing! I need another woman to do this to me… Not in a sexual manner, mind you. But in a loving motherly way. Yona… you’re next on my pamper chopping block!
