Celia: After Dying in the Apocalypse, I Live Once Again!

Chapter 89: Horror!?

Hello! This is my latest novel! Unlike my other novels, this one isn't finished yet. The first volume is finished, though. And you can buy it on Amazon here. If you would be so kind, you can also get the first volume(and anything else I've made.) on my Patreon for donating $10 or over that, here. If you wish for updates, the $10 and over tiers will give you access to chapters when I actually finish them. (Maybe one a day? Idk, as I will be mainly working on other novels as well. But, there will at least be one new chapter every few days.)

Chapter 89: Horror!?

*Celia’s POV*

Without thinking about it more, we all ran back the way that we came. Since it was a long hallway, it took minutes of running to make it to the water area.

When we did make it there, undead were everywhere around us. Frankly, we were completely, and utterly, screwed…

Lia: “What do we do now?” She asked with a nervous expression.

Celia: “Nia, would jumping in the water be a good idea?” I ask with a serious tone.

Nia: “Um… Yes, and no.” She replied.

Celia: “What do you mean?” I ask with a raised eyebrow.

Nia: “There are monsters living in the water. On top of that, we will have to fight off the zombies that jump into the water with us.” She quickly explained.

I genuinely thought that we were in an unsolvable situation… That was, until I remembered my dungeon. I told the rest about my idea, and before the undead could swarm us, we all teleported back to my dungeon.

Once in my dungeon, we were at least safe. As a precaution, we took off all of our clothes, just to make sure that none of us were bitten. Luckily, none of us were.

Celia: “Ria, has something like this ever happened before?” I ask with a curious tone.

Ria: “No… not at all. Undead are a thing, sure, but viral ones like you’ve told us about, have never shown up before.” She said with a thinking pose.

Yeah, I’ve read about how people have raised armies of the undead, but those weren’t contagious at all. It’s not like we CAN’T deal with them, as most of them seemed to be somewhat weak. The problem is, we can’t risk getting bitten by them.

When this all started, I have no idea, but there were at least a few thousand of them in that sewer. Did they lie about how many people went missing? Hm… from what I saw of the undead, some of them weren’t wearing clothes of this era…

Ria: “I agree, Celia. I think that those undead have been brewing within the sewers for a very long time.” She said.

That would explain why they went unnoticed for this long… The sewers absolutely need to be blocked off. Letting even just one of those undead out, might spell the end of this entire world…

Ria: “I shall advise the queen about this, and have my girls help block off the sewers.” She said before teleporting away.

Hm… I guess that I’ll let my capable maid/almost wife, handle that part of the problem. For now, I should explore my dungeon with Nia and Lia. I hadn’t had the chance to explore much of it, and they haven’t seen it in a while.

*Days Later.*

Well, while we were having fun, just relaxing in my dungeon city, the world had ended… Okay, that’s a lie, but only partly. Ria was very busy, but she just now came back and informed us of something important.

The main city is safe, but the sewer under the city, went on for miles. It is also connected to a few small towns, and some big cities. Like our little visit was the starting fire, the undead started to pour out from the unblocked exits.

Luckily, there was a major effort by this kingdom, that completely blocked off all of the places where an outbreak occurred. It wasn’t entirely our fault, as they did want us to figure out what is happening in the sewer. Even so, we accidentally started a zombie outbreak… Oops?

Celia: “What do we even do about this?” I ask with a sigh.

Ria: “Hadi and Amelie, are working on a cure for the outbreak. Once it is complete, and knowing them, it won’t take that long, we shall kill off all of the infected.” She explained.

Oh? So there was already a plan in place? Awesome! Wait, if they’re making a cure, does that mean that those two are in my dungeon? Thinking this, I checked my Dungeon Skill thingy, and looked where they might be. I was right, they’re in this place!

I decided to pay them a visit. Not like I had anything else to do. This dungeon is currently the safest place around. When I arrived at where the map showed me, it was another makeshift house of Amelie’s. I walked up to the front door, and knocked on it.

Amelie: “Celia? I’m sorry but, we’re very busy at the moment.” She said with a remorseful tone.

Celia: “I know, just checking up on you two. How’s the progress on the cure?” I ask with a curious tone.

Amelie: “Frankly? Not well. Hadi and I both suggested getting a live undead test subject, but Ria and the rest absolutely refuse to approve it.” She answered with a sigh.

Celia: “I wouldn’t approve of it either.” I say with a stern tone.

Amelie: “Oh, don’t look at us look we’re crazy witches… There are many reasons why having a live subject would speed up our process.” She said with a small giggle.

Celia: “Would I be able to help in any way?” I ask.

Amelie: “You did explore that sewer, right? If you could be so kind, collect some samples from there.” She asked, before handing me a few empty vials.

Celia: “Sure, but no promises.” I reply with a smile.

Amelie: “Your life comes first. If you even feel a SLIGHT chance that you might be bitten, just leave, don’t worry about the samples.” She said with a serious tone.

Celia: “Don’t worry. I quite enjoy my life this time, so I won’t be forfeiting it so soon.” I reply with a shrug.

Without waiting for her to lecture me further, I just teleported back to the sewer. What I saw upon my arrival, was pure, and utter nightmare fuel… This place was no longer a decent looking sewer, with some zombies in it.

It was… fleshy… Oh God… it was even pulsating as well. This entire mass is alive!? What the hell even is this? Some ancient evil? Whatever it is, I cannot stay here for long…

Taking out a vial, I cut off some of the flesh from the… uh… flesh wall. I collected around two vials of it, before I heard a crazy loud roar. Looking behind me, there was a huge ass zombie running my way…

It was still a decent ways away from me, so I stupidly took the chance to Inspect it. I thought that I was smart, as I had a mini dungeon core in hand before doing so.

When they first show up, as they’re close to a hive mind, rather than eat, and spread their virus, their main goal is to build up their numbers slowly.

Upon being bitten, it is advised to end your, or whoever was bitten, life. To stop the spread of the infection. Scratches from Viral Undead, do not transmit their virus.

Its name is Doug? Heh, what a stupid fucking name for a zombie! Regardless, it was getting ever closer, so I teleported back to my dungeon. Or I would have, if it wasn’t for the flesh wall to shoot out a tentacle at me, and wring the mini dungeon core from my hand…

There was an entire hoard of undead rushing towards me, and I had no time to dig out another mini dungeon core… With no other options, I used the dagger that was still in my hand, to cut off the tentacle thing, and then I jumped, and dived into the shitty water. The water being terrible, wasn’t the only problem awaiting me in it…
