Chapter 10: Maya
Chapter 9
*******MYSTERY POV******
he ran, he ran like his life depended on it, he hoped he was too late, he had to see her.
His heartbeat was going fifty miles per hour, the forest was moving past in a blur, and debris, dust, stones, and twigs flew up in the air anywhere he went, he had it in his hands, just a little more distance and she would be saved.
He prayed, he had never prayed this much in his entire life. Honestly, he didn't even have much to pray for before now but he prayed.
He was almost there, he spent two years looking for the goddess flower and now that he had it he could finally cure her.
They say only the pure of heart can assess it and the plant brings good fortune, now he had it.
Maya would surely be ok now, she was all he had, all that he needed, and his sanity depended on her well-being.
Branches slapped and flogged against his face leaving scratch marks here and there, his body where covered in wounds, both deep wounds that would surely leave scars and the ones that were already closing up, some still dripping blood but he didn't have the time to take care of his wounds, every second he spends bring her closer to death and he wouldn't let that happens, not when he was still alive.
" Oh goddess please don't let anything happen to her" he looked up at the moon and prayed, the goddess would have no choice but to answer his prayer or at least Maya's prayer.
Maya was a strong follower of the moon goddess. She prayed to the moon goddess every morning and night, she celebrated all occasions concerning the moon goddess in grand style, she had all the moon goddess artifacts in her room, and the moon goddess would surely heal her.
There was no doubting that for him.
Suddenly out of nowhere, a gray hound blocked his path.
It was huge, with foamy spit dripping from its long tongue. It had a dark aura surrounding it, immediately he knew what sent it.
The hound's red eyes switched to black before it spoke.
" Give it back you thief" he narrowed his eyes and placed the hand holding the goddess plant at his back, hiding it from the hound's view.
The hound glanced at his hand and said
" So be it"
It jumped above him aiming to bite off his head, but with years of practice and the coursed jewels he had acquired, he was able to dodge the attack.
He kicked the hound which was mid-air causing it to crash into a nearby tree leaving a dent where it hit.
The hound stood up and shook himself, Its eyes glowed yellow, and right before his eyes the hound grew in size, it was now two times bigger than him.
" Hand it over or die" it growled before lifting its foot to step on him, he rolled out of harm's way only to have his leg caught in its foot.
It exerted more force on the leg, crushing it under his massive weight, from his knee down to his ankle.
After thoroughly crushing his leg the hound raised its leg to look at its hand work, it laughed when it saw the artwork it had done.
He was weak, and black spots were already starting to cloud his vision from the amount of pain shooting from his crushed leg.
He dug through the bag when the wolf was preparing for another attack.
The wolf brought its large head down and bit on the crushed leg, it raised his head and swallowed it eliminating any chance of him growing back his legs.
He screamed the pain was unbearable, but all this was for Maya, he was willing to die for Maya.
When the wolf raises his legs to stump on his other legs, he brings out what he was looking for, the devil's sword, what the hound came for, the only thing that could eliminate it.
The hound quickly dodges the sword attack, takes a step back, and watches him.
He used the sword as a third leg, leaning his weight on the sword he was able to stand up, he held onto a nearby tree and pointed the sword at the hound.
The hound knew that even a touch or a tiny cut from that sword would vaporize him, literally.
It moved back in fear, its ear dropped, and bent down and submitted to him.
It thought ' since he was with the sword he might as well become his master'
"Scared now huh" he smiled evilly, he looked down at his leg and back up at the hound looking at him with big purple eyes.
" Am sorry" the gray hound said.
" I was just following orders" it begged. He lifted the sword and the hound hurriedly vomited his legs, surprisingly it was whole and not crushed.
" You just have to join it it would stitch up I swear " the hound begged,
He smiled, no wonder the hound was highly treasured.
He jumped to the leg and picked it up, he joined the legs together, and just like he said it stitched back, it looked like its hands had been cut, except for the black line around the separated area.
" Can I go now?" it asked, he pointed the sword at it and it sat back down.
" Nevermind"
He turned his back to the hound but suddenly the leg fell off again
He looked at the hound surprised only for it to laugh.
" When you repair things you have to use something to hold it together silly," he hound said, rolling his eyes.
He angrily lifted the word again.
" Sorry sorry, use a red cloth to tie It" the hound said hinting at the red piece around his wrist,
He used the cloth to tie the leg and he was able to move them again.
He tested the leg, walking around, and just like the hound said, it was good as new, save for the cloth though.
" Lay down," he told the hound, which it did, he climbed the hound and made sure he was comfortable.
" Go"Withh that he rode off on a hound meant to kill him
" Hold on Maya, am coming"
