Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The First Step, The First Partner, and the Forbidden Forest
The image of Charmander glowed on the screen, confirming his choice. Kenji exhaled deeply, feeling a wave of relief and excitement wash over him. "Charmander, here I come," he murmured, a smile lighting up his face in the dimness of his room.
He closed the Pokémon System window and got out of bed, feeling a renewed energy. The night had been long and full of surprises, but now he was ready to face the day.
Stepping out of his room, the morning sun greeted him with a warm embrace. His parents were already awake, preparing breakfast in the kitchen. Seeing him, his mother gave him a sad smile.
"Good morning, honey," she said in a soft voice. "I hope you slept well."
Kenji nodded, avoiding her gaze. He didn't want to talk about the invocation test, or his failure. He needed time to process everything that had happened.
"Yeah, Mom," he replied. "I slept fine."
He sat at the table and began to eat in silence. His father tried to start a conversation, but Kenji cut him off.
"I'm going out for a while," he said, getting up from the table. "I need to clear my head."
His parents exchanged worried glances, but they said nothing. They knew he needed space.
"Okay, son," his father said. "Be careful."
Kenji nodded and left the house. He walked aimlessly through the streets of the city, feeling the weight of his failure on his shoulders. People looked at him with pity, whispering behind his back.
"Poor kid," he heard an old woman say. "He has no potential."
Kenji clenched his fists and quickened his pace. He didn't want to hear any more comments about his uselessness. He had to prove everyone wrong.
After walking for a while, he reached the outskirts of the city. In front of him stretched a vast forest, known by the locals as the "Forbidden Forest." It was said that dangerous monsters and wild beasts inhabited it.
Kenji smiled. That was the perfect place to train Charmander.
He opened the Pokémon System and tapped the Inventory icon. There it was, the Poké Ball with the Charmander voucher. He carefully took it and held it in his hand.
"Time to get started," he murmured.
He ventured into the forest, feeling the adrenaline coursing through his veins. The air was cool and damp, and the sound of birds and insects filled the air.
After walking for a while, he found a clearing in the forest. It was the perfect place to release Charmander.
He took a deep breath and activated the voucher. The Poké Ball lit up with a bright light, and instantly, a small Fire-type Pokémon appeared in front of him.
Charmander looked around curiously, adapting to its new surroundings. Its bright eyes gleamed with enthusiasm, and its small fire tail burned intensely.
Kenji knelt in front of Charmander and extended a hand.
"Hello, Charmander," he said in a soft voice. "I'm Kenji, your new trainer."
Charmander looked at him distrustfully at first, but then approached and sniffed his hand. Instantly, a smile spread across its face.
"Char, char!" it exclaimed, rubbing against his hand.
Kenji smiled. "I'm glad you're happy," he said. "We have a lot of work to do."
Kenji explained his training plan to Charmander. He told it that they were going to explore the forest, fight monsters and beasts, and become the strongest.
Charmander listened attentively, nodding its head. It seemed excited about the idea of fighting.
"So you know, Charmander," Kenji said. "We depend on each other. We have to work together to overcome all the challenges that come our way."
Charmander nodded and gave him a determined look. It seemed to agree with everything Kenji had said.
Kenji smiled, but inside he felt a pang of uncertainty. Would his knowledge of the games be enough to survive in this world? Could he really train Charmander to become a formidable warrior? He knew that the difference between him and the other summoners was abysmal. They could conjure their beasts at will, while he depended on external objects and a mysterious system. He would have to be more cunning, more strategic, to compensate for his disadvantage.
"Alright, Charmander," Kenji said. "It's time to start our training. Are you ready?"
Charmander responded with an enthusiastic roar. It seemed eager to fight.
Kenji smiled. "That's what I wanted to hear," he said. "Let's show everyone what we're capable of."
He took an empty Poké Ball and showed it to Charmander. "When we're tired or hurt, you can return to this Poké Ball," he explained. "It's like a little house for you."
Charmander nodded, understanding the concept.
Kenji put the Poké Ball in his pocket and stood up. He looked at Charmander with determination.
"Alright, Charmander," he said. "It's time to explore this forest and find some monsters to fight."
Charmander responded with an excited roar. It was ready for the adventure.
Kenji smiled and ventured into the forest, with Charmander following closely behind. The sun shone through the trees, illuminating their path.
He was ready to face any challenge that came his way. He had a loyal partner by his side and a powerful system at his disposal.
The Forbidden Forest was the perfect setting for his new life.
Kenji and Charmander disappeared among the trees, ready to begin their training. The adventure was just beginning.
