Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Cooperation
Chapter 87: Cooperation
After making a different kind of "Five-Year Promise," the two fell into silence. The recent events had left them unsure of what to say.
As silence enveloped the cave, an awkward atmosphere settled in, making it difficult for them to return to their previous camaraderie.
The quiet persisted until noon. During that time, Mo Yu went out to hunt and brought back a few wild rabbits. Sitting by the fire, he absentmindedly turned the roasting stick. Suddenly, sensing something, he looked up and met a pair of lively, beautiful eyes.
Their gazes met briefly before both quickly looked away, pretending nothing had happened.
After another turn of the spit, Mo Yu took one of the rabbits and offered it to Yun Yun.
"You should eat. I'm not hungry," she said softly, lowering her gaze. But as soon as the words left her mouth, her stomach let out a faint growl. After all, the morning's "battle" with Mo Yu had taken a toll on her energy and stamina, nearly as much as a fight with a Dou Huang (Battle Emperor).
Thinking about this, a subtle blush crept into Yun Yun's cheeks. She stubbornly closed her eyes, ignoring her stomach's complaints.
"Don't worry, this rabbit was a vegetarian," Mo Yu said, continuing to offer the food. "If you don't eat, I'll have to feed you myself."
Yun Yun opened her eyes, her lips pursed in refusal. But as she looked up, she saw Mo Yu standing in front of her with a warm smile on his handsome face. A softness flashed in her eyes. She couldn't deny that Mo Yu's refined appearance, combined with his deep, mature demeanor, was indeed very attractive to women.
Especially after their earlier encounter, Yun Yun realized that even as the toxin from the He Snake began to wear off halfway through, she had still been drawn to the unique masculine aura Mo Yu exuded. It was like a source of heat, pulling her into the moment, making it impossible to resist.
Reflecting on this, Yun Yun couldn't help but blame herself for giving in to pleasure. She glanced at Mo Yu, feeling a bit apologetic. In truth, none of this was really his fault—it was just fate.
With a soft sigh, Yun Yun finally reached out and accepted the roasted rabbit. She began to eat slowly and delicately. As she chewed, the tension seemed to ease, and she spoke quietly, "Tomorrow, I should be able to break the seal."
Hearing this, Mo Yu's interest was piqued. He hadn't forgotten his plan. Despite what had happened, his thoughts still lingered on the treasures of the Amethyst Winged Lion King. He smiled and said, "That's great. Congratulations."
"When my strength returns, I plan to confront the Amethyst Winged Lion King again," Yun Yun said firmly.
"Is there anything I can help with?" Mo Yu asked. Given their current relationship, the question didn't seem too forward. Yun Yun didn't think much of it, not realizing that Mo Yu was even more eager than she was.
Yun Yun considered for a moment, then nodded slightly. "The Amethyst Crystal is usually kept in the Lion King's lair. I tried to sneak in last time, but it noticed me. Once I regain my strength, I'll distract the Lion King. I want you to sneak into its cave and find the Amethyst Crystal. I'm not sure what methods you have, but I believe with your abilities, you should be able to get inside. Few other beasts dare to enter the Lion King's lair."
Mo Yu nodded. With Yun Yun outside distracting the Lion King, this was a golden opportunity. Moreover, for some reason, after their earlier encounter, the soul power he had depleted while luring away the three-star Thunder Rock Tiger had not only fully recovered but had also grown stronger, almost pushing him to the level of a four-star alchemist.
Mo Yu could only attribute this strange phenomenon to the "side effects" of his Sky Thunder Body.
"Here, take this crystal," Yun Yun said, retrieving a small, diamond-shaped crystal from her green storage ring. "If you get close to the Amethyst Crystal, this will heat up. The closer you are, the warmer it gets."
Mo Yu took the crystal and hung it around his neck. He smiled and said, "I'll do my best."
Yun Yun nodded slightly. After their conversation, silence fell between them once more.
"By the way," Mo Yu said, breaking the silence as he remembered something. "Earlier, you mentioned preparing three five-star magic cores and a high-level Xuan-rank technique to trade with the Amethyst Winged Lion King. Could I borrow one of those magic cores, either fire or lightning attribute? I promise to repay you several times over in the future."
Considering the ambiguous relationship that had developed between them, and the five-year promise they had made, Mo Yu now viewed Yun Yun as his woman. Although he felt a bit awkward asking to borrow something from her, he figured he could always repay her with interest later.
A five-star magic core was incredibly valuable and would greatly benefit Mo Yu.
Yun Yun was taken aback by his request. She didn't know why Mo Yu needed the magic core, but she felt a strange emotion at his first request. After a moment's thought, she said, "These three magic cores belong to the sect, so I can't just give them away. But I can make an exception for one, considering you saved my life."
Mo Yu waved her off. "Between us, there's no need to talk about debts. Consider it a loan—I don't like owing people, not even my future wife."
Hearing Mo Yu casually refer to her as his woman, Yun Yun blushed slightly. She couldn't help but be curious about the young man's inexplicable confidence. A Dou Huang in five years—this was no small feat.
After tidying up the campfire, Mo Yu noticed the awkwardness in the air as night approached. Realizing that Yun Yun was starting to get annoyed, he decided to leave. "There are more magical beasts around at night. I'll keep watch outside."
As he turned to leave, Yun Yun watched his silhouette disappear into the darkness outside the cave. His words echoed in her mind, stirring something within her.
"Sigh…" A soft sigh echoed in the cave, slowly fading away.
When the warm morning sunlight touched Mo Yu's sleeping face, he groggily opened his eyes. As soon as he woke up, he turned his head sharply.
Inside the cave, on the stone bed, Yun Yun sat cross-legged. Today, she was dressed in a simple white dress, her previously disheveled phoenix hairpin now neatly in place. Her face radiated calm elegance, and the vulnerability she had shown in the past few days was gone.
Sensing that Mo Yu was awake, Yun Yun opened her eyes slightly and glanced at him. Her gaze carried a hint of complexity, but she spoke softly, "You're awake?"
Her voice was as clear as before, but now it carried a touch of coldness.
Mo Yu wasn't bothered by her attitude. A woman like Yun Yun wouldn't fall in love with him just because of what had happened. Strength was what mattered.
Thinking of their five-year promise, Mo Yu felt a surge of determination. He looked at Yun Yun and said, "If the seal is broken, let's go find the Amethyst Winged Lion King!"
