Chapter 86: The Five-Year Promise
"Slap!"
Half an hour later, after a fierce and passionate encounter, the heated storm between them subsided, leaving the cave in a tense silence. Suddenly, the sharp sound of a slap echoed within the cave, breaking the stillness.
Following the slap, heavy breaths gradually faded away, and the sound of stumbling footsteps grew distant as someone hurried out of the cave.
After the footsteps disappeared, Yun Yun, lying on the stone bed, slowly opened her tear-filled eyes. She looked down at the disheveled state of her body and the unfamiliar scents clinging to her, tears streaming down her beautiful face.
For someone of her status, few dared to even look at her directly, let alone touch her. Now, the body she had preserved for so many years had been taken away in this small cave by a much younger boy, leaving Yun Yun feeling utterly helpless and frustrated.
Without her Dou Qi, Yun Yun seemed to have lost some of her usual coldness and distance. The high status that once set her apart felt temporarily sealed away, making her seem more vulnerable.
If this had happened before, Yun Yun would have drawn her sword without hesitation and cut Mo Yu into eighteen pieces. Of course, if her Dou Qi hadn't been sealed, the effects of the He Snake's toxin would never have clouded her mind, not even for a moment.
Lying on the stone bed, Yun Yun bit her red lips, her expression flickering with indecision as she seemed lost in thought.
Meanwhile, Mo Yu had run out of the cave and was now racing toward a nearby waterfall, hoping to cool off. Although most of the heat and fire within him had subsided, there was still a lingering burn that made him feel as if he were on fire. The traces of their encounter still clung to him, making him desperate for a bath.
With a splash, Mo Yu dove into the lake like a fish, sinking to the bottom as the cool water soothed his overheated body.
He took a few gulps of the lake water and crossed his legs at the bottom, focusing on circulating his Dou Qi to dispel the remaining heat within him.
As the cool water and Dou Qi gradually did their work, Mo Yu felt the intense heat within him slowly fade, and the fire that had been raging inside him quietly retreated.
"Splash." The calm surface of the lake broke as Mo Yu's head emerged. He wiped the water from his face and looked up at the blazing sun, exhaling weakly as he swam to the shore. He leaned against a rock, breathing heavily.
With his eyes half-closed, he gazed up at the sky, absentmindedly touching his nose as Yun Yun's noble and beautiful face once again flashed in his mind. The memory of her, usually as dignified as a goddess, revealing her most vulnerable and passionate side to him filled him with a complex mix of emotions.
A bitter smile crossed Mo Yu's face. He was no stranger to the pleasures of such an encounter, and while the memory lingered sweetly, it also brought a realization of the trouble he now faced.
Things had escalated far beyond his original intentions. He had planned to form an alliance with Yun Yun, but instead, he had unexpectedly taken something precious from her.
He recalled how Xiao Yan had been in a similar situation in the original story, but at least Xiao Yan had stopped before things went too far, giving both parties a way out. In contrast, Mo Yu had plunged headfirst into the deep end, seizing Yun Yun's most treasured possession without warning.
As he used his Xuan Thunder to dry off, Mo Yu pondered Yun Yun's reaction. He considered whether he should just run away to avoid the inevitable consequences.
It seemed irresponsible, but Yun Yun was a Dou Huang, a Dou Emperor. If she regained her strength and became furious, she could easily kill him with a single blow. What argument could he make then?
After thinking it over, Mo Yu narrowed his eyes and made a decision. He turned and began walking back to the cave.
A man should know when to act and when not to. Since it had already happened, Mo Yu wasn't someone who would shirk responsibility. In his past life, he had been a supreme ruler, and he still had his pride.
Besides, it wasn't just about having relations with a Dou Huang. Even if it were a Dou Zun, a Dou Sovereign, Mo Yu wouldn't flinch!
As he neared the cave, Mo Yu took a deep breath and stepped inside. But when he looked toward the stone platform, he froze. Yun Yun, who should have been lying there, was gone.
He quickly stepped forward, about to use his soul power to search, when he felt a sudden chill at his neck. A strange, icy sword was pressed tightly against his throat.
His body stiffened instantly. Glancing back, he saw Yun Yun standing behind him, dressed in a green robe, her beautiful face cold as she held the sword to his neck.
Despite the cold steel at his throat, Mo Yu's expression remained calm. He raised his head to meet Yun Yun's gaze and said slowly, "What's done is done. I didn't come here to apologize but to tell you something."
Yun Yun's icy face flushed with anger. She thought bitterly, You've done something so unforgivable, taking what is most precious to me, and you don't even feel sorry?
Her eyes flashed with mixed emotions as she pressed the sword harder against Mo Yu's throat, drawing a thin line of blood.
As her gaze fell on the red handprint on Mo Yu's face, she realized where the loud slap from earlier had come from. Seeing the comical imprint on his face, her anger softened slightly, though she still spoke coldly, "What do you want to say?"
"I want to say, Yun Zhi, be my woman," Mo Yu said calmly, his voice firm and unwavering.
Yun Yun was stunned by this sudden, domineering declaration. Her cold expression faltered, and her eyes filled with confusion. It was as if Mo Yu was the one holding the sword to her neck, and he was the one with the power of a Dou Huang.
Staring into his deep, determined eyes, Yun Yun felt a pressure she had never even experienced from her master. Unconsciously, she found herself on the defensive.
"Let's just pretend this never happened," Yun Yun finally said in a weary, defeated voice as she lowered her sword.
With their close encounter still fresh in her mind, Yun Yun decided to be honest. "My real identity is Yun Yun, the leader of the Yun Lan Sect and the master of Nalan Yanran, who broke off her engagement with Xiao Yan. There's both personal and public enmity between us, and I can't be your woman."
The gap between them was too vast. A Dou Huang was a powerful figure, and while Mo Yu might have the potential to reach that level, it certainly wouldn't happen now. Besides, Yun Yun was too proud to believe that a mere Dou Zhe, no matter how talented or mysterious, could reach the heights of a Dou Huang.
"Five years. In five years, I will break through to Dou Huang," Mo Yu said confidently, looking directly into Yun Yun's eyes.
He understood the enormous gap between them, but having been reborn, what he lacked most was time. If given five years, Mo Yu was certain he could become a Dou Huang.
A Dou Huang in his early twenties—Yun Yun had never heard of such a thing. Her delicate brows furrowed slightly. Breaking through from Dou Zhe to Dou Huang in five years was unheard of.
But when she looked into Mo Yu's eyes and remembered the days they had spent together in the cave, as well as their recent intense encounter, her feelings grew more complicated. Finally, she bit her lip and said softly,
"Alright, I'll give you a chance. Five years from now, I'll be waiting for you to find me as a Dou Huang."
