Chapter 107: News of Mo Yu
Ye Cong looked up at the young man before him with a face full of shock. After a moment, his expression grew serious, and he demanded in a low voice, "Kid, what kind of secret technique is this?"
The powerful abilities that the young man had displayed had astonished Ye Cong. As the leader of one of the four great families of the northeastern province, he was well aware of the terrifying power of the top forces in the world.
"This can't be! Though this boy has several techniques at his disposal, the martial arts he's using don't seem to be above the Xuan tier. This is definitely not the style of those top forces!" Though a trace of fear had crossed his mind, Ye Cong quickly suppressed it, reassuring himself internally.
Regaining his composure, Ye Cong's face grew stern. With a thought, a long sword appeared in his hand. As the Dou Qi within him surged, a sharp, icy blue aura enveloped the blade.
On the Dou Qi Continent, once a person reaches the level of a Da Dou Shi, they can project their Dou Qi outside their body. By channeling their Dou Qi into a weapon, they can significantly enhance its power.
Clearly, Mo Yu's current aura had made Ye Cong take him very seriously.
With a tense expression, Ye Cong swung the sword infused with powerful Dou Qi. Countless sharp water blades rapidly formed in the air above him, cutting through the wind as they shot towards Mo Yu.
Seeing this, Mo Yu's expression remained unchanged. He watched the oncoming barrage of water blades calmly, bringing his hands together. As his palms met, an invisible force erupted between them, and with a sudden crack, the incoming water blades shattered into a fine mist mid-air.
"Such powerful spiritual energy!" Ye Cong muttered in astonishment as he watched the water blades disintegrate into mist with no warning. His gaunt face briefly reflected his shock.
Ignoring Ye Cong's surprise, Mo Yu swiftly formed a series of hand seals. His spiritual power condensed into a spiraling shape, which then shot towards Ye Cong from above, cleaving downwards.
Though spiritual attacks lacked the visible impact of Dou Techniques, the moment the spiraling soul imprint was unleashed, Ye Cong's face grew exceedingly grave, for he could sense a genuine threat to his life from this attack.
Retreating cautiously by a step, Ye Cong tightened his grip on his sword. With a fierce thrust, the blue aura of his blade collided with the descending spiritual attack.
Seeing Ye Cong choose to confront the attack head-on, a faint hint of mockery flashed in Mo Yu's eyes. The spiraling soul imprint accelerated, clashing violently with the blue blade.
As the two forces collided, a powerful ripple of energy spread out from the point of impact, cracking the floor of the room like a spider's web.
"Break!" Mo Yu commanded coldly. As soon as the words left his mouth, Ye Cong's sword bent under the pressure and, with a loud snap, shattered completely.
In a single exchange, Ye Cong's weapon had been easily destroyed. His face grew dark; he hadn't expected the young man before him to possess such formidable spiritual power.
Though Mo Yu's Dou Qi placed him at the level of a Dou Shi, his spiritual power had reached the peak of a third-grade alchemist!
A Dou Shi with such a powerful soul was unheard of, but rather than be dismayed, Ye Cong found himself oddly relieved. If Mo Yu possessed such strong spiritual power, it meant that his claim of being able to repair the Six-Harmonies Void Sword was not just empty talk—he truly had the ability.
"Patriarch!"
At that moment, several Ye family members, having heard the sounds of the battle, rushed into the room. A few guards with notable strength entered and were shocked by the scene of devastation and the broken sword in Ye Cong's hand.
Could it be that their patriarch, an eight-star Da Dou Shi, had such difficulty dealing with a mere youth? And it appeared that he hadn't gained the upper hand!
"Patriarch, should we summon the family's forces?" the leader of the guards, a captain with the strength of a Da Dou Shi, asked cautiously after casting a wary glance at Mo Yu.
Frowning slightly, Ye Cong looked at Mo Yu, who remained calm and composed. He shook his head and said, "No need. You all may leave."
The guards exchanged puzzled looks but ultimately followed their leader and exited the room.
After they left, Ye Cong turned back to Mo Yu with a heavy heart and asked in a serious tone, "Are you truly capable of repairing the Six-Harmonies Void Sword?"
Mo Yu casually twirled his long spear in his hand and responded lightly, "To be honest, the spear in my hand is called the Shenwei Black Thunder Spear. I crafted it myself. And after witnessing the spiritual power I just demonstrated, I trust you no longer doubt my abilities, Patriarch Ye?"
"What!?" Ye Cong's eyes widened in shock as he stared at the spear in Mo Yu's hand. It was of comparable quality to the Six-Harmonies Void Sword, and the idea that this youth had forged it himself was astonishing.
Until now, Ye Cong had assumed the weapon was a gift from Mo Yu's mysterious master. He hadn't imagined it was the work of the young man before him.
If Mo Yu spoke the truth, then not only could he repair the Six-Harmonies Void Sword, but he could forge another one just as easily.
With that realization, Ye Cong finally felt a sense of relief. The Ye family had indeed found a blacksmith capable of repairing the sword.
However, the youth's earlier condition still left Ye Cong conflicted. He hesitated before cupping his hands respectfully and saying, "Young man, I need to return home and discuss your condition with my ancestor. I will give you an answer in a few days."
"Very well. I'll be at this inn, waiting for your good news," Mo Yu replied with a nod. He could afford to wait a few days.
With Mo Yu's agreement, Ye Cong felt a weight lift from his shoulders. Though Mo Yu was young, the power he had demonstrated made it impossible for Ye Cong to treat him lightly.
After they made their agreement, Ye Cong left a card worth twenty thousand gold coins on the damaged table and took the Six-Harmonies Void Sword with him. He then bid Mo Yu farewell and departed.
Mo Yu allowed Ye Cong to leave, but just as the latter was about to exit the room, Mo Yu's voice rang out again, "By the way, Patriarch Ye, I have a piece of news for you: The Yun Lan Sect will soon sever its ties with the Mo family. If nothing unexpected happens, this should be publicly announced in the next few days."
Mo Yu was confident in this information, having been told directly by Yun Yun, the leader of the Yun Lan Sect. He had no reason to doubt her.
Hearing this, Ye Cong froze mid-step, a look of surprise flashing across his face. His expression shifted as he absorbed the information before finally leaving the room.
As he watched Ye Cong's retreating figure and glanced at the twenty thousand gold coins on the table, a smile curled Mo Yu's lips. If all went as planned, the Ye family would soon be on his side…
