Chapter 106: Battle Against an Eight-Star Da Dou Shi

Successfully purchasing the heavily damaged Six-Harmonies Void Sword for two hundred thousand gold coins, Mo Yu noticed that no one else was foolish enough to outbid him for what many considered to be a worthless relic. After the auction concluded, Mo Yu promptly paid the total of twenty-three thousand gold coins for both the Golden Sun Wood and the Six-Harmonies Void Sword before swiftly leaving the Miteer Auction House.

The auctioning of a damaged sword for such a high price quickly became the talk of Black Rock City, spreading as an amusing anecdote.

After leaving the auction house, Mo Yu soon noticed several subtle presences following him. However, sensing that these presences did not harbor malicious intent but were simply tailing him, Mo Yu couldn't help but smile.

Ten minutes later, after passing through a few streets, Mo Yu returned to the inn where he was staying. He then noticed one of the presences splitting off and leaving, while the others continued to keep a close watch on him.

Ignoring them, Mo Yu sat cross-legged on the bed and began to cultivate, quietly awaiting what was to come.

Half an hour later, just as Mo Yu had cycled his Dou Qi through a few circulations, a knock came at the door.

Hearing the knock, a smile appeared on Mo Yu's face. He had already guessed who the visitor was. He exited his cultivation state, stood up, and slowly opened the door to reveal a thin, imposing middle-aged man—none other than Ye Cong, the patriarch of the Ye family, one of the four great families of the northeastern province of the Jia Ma Empire.

Seeing his visitor, Mo Yu showed no surprise, as if he had been expecting him.

Ye Cong, upon seeing the youthful face of Mo Yu after he removed his black robe, felt a brief flash of disappointment. But when he noticed the calm and composed demeanor in the young man's dark eyes, a glimmer of hope sparked within him.

"I am Ye Cong, the patriarch of the Ye family. I must apologize for the intrusion, but I have come to discuss a private matter. Coincidentally, the inn you chose belongs to my Ye family. As a token of my apology, I'll waive your lodging fees for the past few days," Ye Cong said with a polite smile.

Though the few days' lodging fees were a trivial sum to Mo Yu, Ye Cong's words were carefully chosen, leaving no room for offense. It was clear he was a master of courtesy, befitting his status as a clan leader.

"Hehe, so it's the famous Ye Cong, patriarch of the Ye family, one of the four great families of the northeastern province. I've heard much about you. Please, come in!" Mo Yu responded, equally composed and unflustered despite the high status of his guest.

Seeing Mo Yu's ease and grace, Ye Cong was inwardly impressed. His own status in Black Rock City was unattainable for most, and the Ye family was renowned throughout the empire. Yet, this young man showed neither fear nor discomfort, displaying manners and poise far beyond his years. It made Ye Cong regard him with newfound respect.

However, just as he thought the young man before him had already exceeded his expectations, Mo Yu's next words left him utterly astonished.

"Patriarch Ye Cong, you're here for the Six-Harmonies Void Sword, aren't you?" Mo Yu said with a smile as he poured a cup of tea.

Hearing this, Ye Cong's expression immediately changed, and a flicker of killing intent flashed in his eyes. But when he looked up and saw the calm smile on the young man's face, he realized he had lost his composure and quickly took the tea Mo Yu offered, drinking it to mask his emotions.

As he slowly drank the tea, Ye Cong's expression fluctuated. When he finally set the cup down, he asked in a serious tone, "What do you mean by that, young man?"

The Six-Harmonies Void Sword was a closely guarded secret within the Ye family, known only to the upper echelons. How could Mo Yu possibly know about it?

Noticing Ye Cong's reaction, Mo Yu chuckled and, with a slight movement of his mind, brought out the Six-Harmonies Void Sword, placing it on the table before them.

As soon as Ye Cong saw the sword, his expression stiffened.

Gently touching the severely damaged sword, Mo Yu began to explain his reasoning: "If I'm not mistaken, this Six-Harmonies Void Sword was sent to the Miteer Auction by the Ye family."

Ye Cong's thick hands trembled slightly upon hearing Mo Yu's words. His eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at the young man before him. How much more did this boy know?

Seeing Ye Cong's shock, Mo Yu continued with a smile, "The Ye family likely used the auction to find a buyer who might have the means to repair the sword. After all, anyone willing to spend two hundred thousand gold coins on a damaged sword must have a way to restore it. The Ye family could then trace the buyer back to a master blacksmith. As for why the Ye family didn't openly seek help, it's probably because the sword is linked to your ancestor's survival. If word got out that your ancestor is in danger, the Ye family's position could become precarious…"

The night before, Mo Yu had gathered all available information on the Ye family, including the fact that their ancestor had been in seclusion for many years and that he had been known for his swordsmanship in his youth.

When Mo Yu sensed a faint, lingering soul aura on the Six-Harmonies Void Sword, he suspected that the Ye family ancestor had been practicing a technique similar to the "Sword Mastery" technique from his past life.

Sword Mastery was a popular sword technique among certain sects in Mo Yu's previous life, where the practitioner's soul was bound to their sword. While this granted immense power, allowing the practitioner to defeat stronger opponents, it also meant that if the sword was severely damaged, the practitioner's soul would be gravely injured as well.

Thus, Mo Yu theorized that this Six-Harmonies Void Sword belonged to the Ye family's ancestor, and his long seclusion was due to a serious injury to his soul.

Though Mo Yu didn't know what kind of formidable enemy had injured the ancestor, the sword's damage alone indicated the severity of the wounds.

To heal the ancestor, the sword would first need to be repaired. If the damage were minor, the owner could restore it over time. But with such extensive damage, a master blacksmith was required.

Given the scarcity of blacksmiths on the Dou Qi continent and the Ye family's need to keep this secret, they likely resorted to using the Miteer Auction as a way to discreetly find a capable blacksmith.

As Ye Cong looked at the young man's youthful yet confident face, he was shocked at how deeply the boy understood his family's secrets. "How do you know all this?" he asked, incredulous.

Mo Yu smiled. "I've studied blacksmithing under my master since childhood. I recognized the condition of the Six-Harmonies Void Sword at a glance and, after considering your family's recent situation, I pieced together the rest."

Upon hearing Mo Yu mention blacksmithing, Ye Cong's anger turned to joy. After all, the Ye family had gone to such lengths precisely to find a blacksmith.

Standing up, Ye Cong eagerly asked, "Where is your master now? If he can repair the Six-Harmonies Void Sword and restore our ancestor's health, not only will we return the two hundred thousand gold coins, but the Ye family will also pay an additional fifty thousand as a reward!"

Fifty thousand gold coins—back in Wutan City, even an advanced Xuan-tier technique had only fetched fifty-five thousand. The Ye family was clearly sincere.

However, gold was just a number to Mo Yu. He shook his head and replied, "I'm sorry, but my master is wandering the world. Even I don't know where he is right now."

Ye Cong's face fell upon hearing this. Just as he was about to voice his disappointment, Mo Yu spoke again, "But even though my master isn't here, I am confident that I can repair the Six-Harmonies Void Sword myself."

Ye Cong was stunned by this declaration, and his thin face reflected his disbelief. "Is what you say true, young man?"

Not bothered by Ye Cong's skepticism, Mo Yu responded calmly, "I have no reason to lie about something like this. Besides, do you have a better option?"

Ye Cong's expression shifted as Mo Yu's words struck at his greatest weakness. The Ye family indeed had no better options left. Moreover, their ancestor's condition could no longer be delayed. He realized that perhaps it was worth taking a chance on this mysterious and confident youth.

Coming to a decision, Ye Cong clasped his fists in gratitude. "Then I must trouble you, young man. If you can successfully repair the Six-Harmonies Void Sword, the Ye family will be forever in your debt."

Mo Yu smiled slyly. "I do have a favor I'd like to ask of the Ye family."

"Oh? What is it? As long as it's within our power, the Ye family will do our utmost to assist you!" Ye Cong replied confidently, his status as the head of one of the empire's four great families backing his words.

"I need the Ye family's help to join forces with me in destroying the Mo family," Mo Yu said bluntly, without any preamble.

"The Mo family…?" Ye Cong's expression turned serious. "Are you referring to…?"

"Yes, the Mo family that stands alongside yours as one of the four great families in the northeastern province," Mo Yu confirmed with a nod.

"What!?" Ye Cong's face turned grim. Though the Ye and Mo families were equals, it was no secret that the Mo family had been flourishing in recent years. Backed by the Yun Lan Sect, they were practically the strongest of the four great families.

Mo Yu's request for the Ye family to help destroy the Mo family was shocking. Even if the Ye family's elders agreed, they didn't have the power to accomplish such a feat.

"Is there any way you could ask for something else?" Ye Cong asked solemnly.

Mo Yu shook his head in response.

Reluctant to give up, Ye Cong continued, "Young man, you must understand, while the four great families are equals in name, the Mo family's strength far surpasses that of the Ye family. With the Yun Lan Sect's support, even a Dou Wang expert would hesitate to make such a bold claim. Whatever grudge you have against the Mo family, could you not set it aside for now?"

Before Ye Cong could finish, Mo Yu interrupted, "There's no need for further discussion, Patriarch Ye Cong. My name is Mo Yu. I believe your family's intelligence network will soon uncover the enmity between me and the Mo family. As for whether your family agrees to join forces with me, I understand you cannot decide this alone. I suggest you discuss it with your ancestor."

"Impudent!"

Ye Cong was taken aback. As the head of the Ye family, few in Black Rock City dared to speak to him in such a manner. His face darkened, and a powerful aura erupted from him.

As an eight-star Da Dou Shi, Ye Cong's strength far exceeded that of Xiao Zhan, the former patriarch of the Xiao family, by several magnitudes.

"For the sake of your master, I will spare your life. But you must either repair the Six-Harmonies Void Sword or bring your master here to do it. The Ye family will not tolerate further insults!"

As he spoke, Ye Cong's expression turned ruthless. The Six-Harmonies Void Sword was crucial to his ancestor's survival. If Mo Yu refused to cooperate, Ye Cong was prepared to use force.

As Ye Cong's anger flared, the room was quickly filled with blue Dou Qi, and a misty vapor began to obscure Mo Yu's vision completely.

"Water-based Dou Qi?" Mo Yu murmured to himself as he sensed the incoming attack. However, his expression remained calm. To think that an eight-star Da Dou Shi could easily subdue him was simply wishful thinking.

With a slight tremor of his body, Mo Yu activated his silver-white Dou Qi Armor, which enveloped his entire body. The surface of the armor crackled with red lightning, vaporizing the encroaching mist upon contact.

"A three-star Dou Shi?"

Ye Cong's face revealed his surprise as he observed the red lightning-infused Dou Qi Armor covering Mo Yu. The youth's talent was clearly extraordinary.

"Patriarch Ye Cong, forcing your hand like this doesn't seem very honorable," Mo Yu remarked with a playful tone.

"Hmph!" Ye Cong snorted, displeased by Mo Yu's calm demeanor. His Dou Qi surged, and several blue water arrows formed within the mist, shooting toward Mo Yu.

In response, Mo Yu summoned his Shenwei Black Thunder Spear from his beast ring and skillfully deflected the water arrows one by one.

However, upon contact with the spear, the water arrows suddenly dissolved into a chilling liquid that spread across the weapon. Mo Yu's hand on the spear shaft felt the cold seeping into his body.

Unperturbed, Mo Yu flicked his finger, and red lightning surged from his palm, swiftly dispelling the icy cold from the spear.

"A fine spear and a peculiar lightning… I didn't expect someone so young to possess such rare treasures," Ye Cong remarked, his astonishment growing.

His expression turned serious as he summoned dozens of spiraling water arrows with a wave of his hands. The arrows formed a barrage that shot toward Mo Yu with deadly precision.

Mo Yu's feet scraped the ground as he dodged the barrage. Then, with a forceful stomp, he propelled himself into the air, narrowly evading the attack. As he spun in midair, twenty thunder marks on his body flared to life, boosting his physical strength. Seizing the momentum, he hurled the Shenwei Black Thunder Spear with all his might toward Ye Cong.

The spear, empowered by the combined force of Mo Yu's spin and the thunder marks, tore through the air, trailing a faint black arc.

Ye Cong's brows rose in surprise as the spear approached, marveling at the boy's skill. However, his admiration didn't hinder his response. With a fluid motion, he summoned a massive water dragon from his Dou Qi, which shot upward and coiled around the spear, halting its advance just inches from his head.

"Impressive as your skills may be, you're still just a Dou Shi. Come with me to the Ye family. If you repair the Six-Harmonies Void Sword, I promise you won't be harmed," Ye Cong said calmly.

"Patriarch Ye Cong, I've already stated that I'll only repair the sword if you agree to my terms!" Mo Yu retorted with a smile as he swiftly formed a series of hand seals.

Ye Cong hesitated, puzzled by Mo Yu's actions. But soon, his expression changed dramatically as he sensed a powerful spiritual energy emanating from the young man—a force almost on par with his own!

"How is this possible!?" Ye Cong's usually calm face finally showed a trace of shock.
