Chapter 44: Chapter 44

[Third POV]

"Brace for impact!" He screamed trying to wake up any person he could while holding onto the platform with all his strength.

Solon immediately bend the earth to cover all the soldiers as much as posible while at the same time moving the platform away from the jaws.

Most soldiers woke up and tried to hold on but during this time the leviathan had already reached the platform and rammed directly into it.

The platfrom held on since Solon used his power to lessen the force but a large part of it crumbled and fell into the sea.

The leviathan vanished once again under the water.

Meanwhile the soldiers started counting their losses.

"How many survived?" Asked the leader that managed to survive.

"We lost 4 soldiers sir. Their bodies hit the stones and broke throught it due to the force. They are most likely in the sea." A soldier said as he looked around.

"I see." He said as he exhaled.

"Move as fast as you can. It doesn't matter how long you can manage." He said as he looked at the sea with fear.

"Sure." answered Solon as he accelerated the platform.

"Are we leaving them behind?" Asked a soldier with clear anger in his voice.

"What else can we do? Are you going to jump in the sea with that thing and get them?" asked the medic while checking everyone for injuries.

Silence followed as the soldier looked towards the sea bellow him and said nothing.

"That's what I thought." The medic continued as he turned to the soldiers once again.

"Silence." A third soldier said as he passed around the last ratios they had.

"Infighting will not help the current situation. Those men are dead, we must take advantage of the time they obtained for us." He said as he took a bite out of a leaf.

Everyone kept silent since they knew he was right, even though they didn't like the fact that they used their comrade's deaths as a distraction.

Multiple hours passed since the leviathan attacked and the journey was calm. Yet the voice of Solon broke the tranquility .

"I have good news and bad news. Which ones do you want to hear first?" He asked calmly.

"The good ones. Spirits know we need them." Answered the now awake general.

"We are approaching dry land." He said while pointing at the horizon where a mountain could be seen.

"And the bad ones?"

"The chi drainage during the journey was high." He answered truthfully.

"How is that a problem?" The general asked with confusion.

"Like that." Solon said.

The general turned towards the place Solon pointed at and saw what could be called a sea of chaotic spirits rushing to a certain direction.

He paled as he understood where they would land if they continued their journey as planned before.

"Can you turn towards the place they are heading?" He asked hopeful.

"I can, however I won't hold us in the air. I've been lifting this platform for hours now." Solon answered as calm as ever.

Although the 'sweat' betrayed his real thoughts.

"I see..." The general said while thinking.

"Move us as far as possible. We will use our bending to avoid any spirit we can while burying alive any one we can't avoid." He said after careful consideration.

"Why take the risk? Can't we just land behind the horde? That way we will be safe." The medic complained.

"Our aim is the border. We can't reach it if there is no border, and I'm sure any able bodies would be appreciated." The general said while looking at the land in front of him.

"Lastly, I hope to reach there before the horde and warn them. This kind of attack cannot be random. There's something organising these things." He said in a grave tone.

"There has never been any news about intelligent chaotic spirits. It's unrealistic for them to appear now."

"There are 3 possible answers for this situation. The first and least threatening is that this attack is a coincidense. The second is a bit worse since now the intelligent spirits are turning their attention to us. While the third..." He paused while taking a breath.

"The third?"

"The third is that they are evolving. Which would mean the end of the human race." He said while gathering some supplies from the ground and passing them to the medic.

In the shores of the earth kindom, silence reigned supreme. No creature, intelligent or not dared to come close to the water one of the most unpredictable elements in the world.

Yet despite that, a large boulder fell from the sky breaking the uncomfotable silence by shaking the earth and announcing it's existence.

"Ok, get up and move immediately. We need to get away from the water and the horde. We will collect any kind of consumable in our way. No one rests until we reach the border." A loud and rough voice shouted as multiple figures got out from the dust cloud that was raised due to the platform landing.

"Yes sir." X13

The symphony of voices answered as a total of 15 men got up with renewed hope in their eyes while moving their hands rapidly creating an artificial earthen hill that moved.

"Why don't you use this technique for transportation?" asked Solon while 'resting'.

"Not all of us possess the immense amount of chi you have. We would exhaust ourselves before we reached our destination and even if we rotated the one who controls the hill we would be all out of chi when we finally reach." The general answered as he used some sand he collected before to catch some fruits while moving.

"It is usually used when in an emergency situation like now, or when you have a large enough team. Rich people like to use them to flaunt their wealth." The medic added while resting.

"No more question. We need to hurry and talking is distracting us. We have about 5 hours before the horde reaches us and the border is 3 hours away. It seems we are barely ok." He said while relaxing his body slightly.

"Everyone not bending, eat. We have a large day and night in front of us." He said while taking a bite out of a fruit.
