Chapter 43: Chapter 43

[Third POV]

"What do we do now sir?" Asked the medic while looking at the sea.

"We move away from here. We head back to the main continent and we go to the border." The man answered as he took a deep breath to calm himself.

"Can we do it? Our supplies got eaten by the leviathan and our chi is not infinite." A second soldier commented from the side.

"It doesn't matter. It's our only choice." The leader said as he moved his arms once again to guide the platform towards the land closest to them.

[5 hours later]

The journey continued for some hours with the person moving the platform changing once in a while due to the burden they had to bear.

Solon himself had taken over from the previous soldier just an hour ago.

'Holding on for 3 hours should be okay right? After all each soldier could only move the platform for 30 minutes.' He thought as he calculated what would be the most reasonable amount of time he had to carry the platform for.

"Mmm...uhhh..."

A groan cut off Solon's thoughts as he turned to look at the man lying next to him just to see the general that had slept throught everything slowly wake up.

"Medic! The general is awake." The soldier that had stayed up to accompany Solon shouted.

"Coming!" The medic said as he jumped from the rock he used as a bed, while at the same time grabbing everything he managed to save from the medical supplies.

He rushed to the general's side and started to diagnose him.

"Calm down. You almost got cut in half due to the attack you endured. Your body and mind are in shock right now." He said as he tried to calm down the general.

Suddenly the general's breathing became errantic as his body started spasming violently.

"He going into post-traumatic shock, get over here and hold him down!" He screamed as he tried to detain the general's hands.

4 soldiers that had woken up due to the medic's sudden movement rushed to help him as each one held down one of the genera's limbs.

'A chance.' Solon thought as he looked at the man spasming on the platform.

"You better hurry to do whatever it is you want to do because his chi is going haywire and he is unconsiously trying to bend the whole platform." Solon said calmly but loud enough to be heard.

"How long can you hold the platform as is." The medic asked while making his movws slightly faster.

"About 10 more minutes. Any more than that and we risk falling into the sea." He said immediately.

"Then there is no problem. I need about 5 to finish." The medic said as he relaxed knowing that there was no danger due to the general's abilities.

The man took some kind of plant from his bag and started to grind it inside a small plate. Once the herb was turned into some kind of mush he added some powder and fed the concotion to the general.

"That will calm him down for a while." He said once he saw the man's breathing turn to normal.

"What's his situation?" asked the temporary leader while looking hopeful.

"He will wake up in about 10 minutes. I don't know what his condition will be then however he mustn't go into such condition again. His body is too tired to handle such stress." The medic said as he gathered some information about the general's situation and lied down once again.

"You can go to sleep. Your expertise is extremely important right now you need to be well rested. I will stay awake with the man here and will wake you when I notice any changes." The leader said as he sat next to Solon.

"Yes sir." The medic said as he closed his eyes and immediately fell asleep.

Time passed as silence and darkness were the only things someone could notice during this time.

Yet a voice broke that silence.

"You seem to hate your position." Solon said out of nowhere.

"I do hate it. Responsibility was always something I wanted to avoid. I hated making decisions, that's the reason I became a soldier. You don't have to think or decide. You just follow orders." The man said as he looked at the dark sea under them.

"Most people would kill to have your position. To have the power to guide others." Solon commented allowing his curiosity to surface.

"The people who would kill to have this power would never obtain it. They wouldn't have the courage to charge behind enemy lines and save others. They would only care about themselves." The man answered as he understood that Solon was curious.

"Is that wrong?" Solon asked back.

"Huh?"

"Is it wrong for them to try and obtain everything they desire? To try and make their dreams true. No matter what?"

"No. No it's not. However, humans have some misconseptions about the world. We name things like justice and evil. We characterize them according to our ideals while ignoring the fact that we do not rule this world. We always say that spirits are evil and kill them, but the spirits themselves are just trying to survive in this cruel world."

"What do you think?" Solon asked once again.

"I think that we are hypocrites. We kill spirits to eat them, yet once they do the same it's as if the world is ending due to a demon walking among us." The man said as he looked at the fainted general.

"Hey."

"Yes? What happened? Do you need me me to carry the platform for a while?"

"No. The leviathan is back."

The man instantly turned around only to see the sea's surface rise and huge jaw coming out of the water.

"Fuck."
