Ch9 - Start-up capital
9: Start-up capital
When Taichi presented the monster materials, the guild staff was astonished.
“A Red Wolf, a Wild Holo-holo, and even a Platinum Golem! These are all high-rank monsters!!”
(They all did seem pretty strong…)
Though Luke had taken them down easily, they were indeed quite powerful monsters. It’s good that Taichi didn’t have to show everything.
“Although there are some injuries, most were taken down in a single hit… This is beyond impressive.”
The staff member in charge of the dissection checked the condition of the materials and wrote down the details on paper before handing it to the receptionist.
“These are all great materials. Please go ahead with the purchase.”
“Y-yes!”
“Alright, everyone! It’s time for a fun dissection session!”
“Yeah!!”
Soon, Taichi found himself in a private room at the Adventurers’ Guild, likely due to the high rank of the monsters he had sold.
The receptionist had stepped out, leaving only Taichi and Luke.
“What should I do… Will they ask me a lot of questions or something?”
“Hmph, humans are weak. They’re only astonished by such monsters, which is to be expected.”
Luke, snorting, seemed unfazed.
(I feel like I’m going to be interrogated or something…)
Just then, there was a knock, and the receptionist returned. Fortunately, no intimidating superior was with her, which was a relief.
“Sorry for the wait. The amount is quite large, so I’ll deliver it here.”
“Oh, okay.”
(So I was taken to a separate room just because of the large amount of the buyout.)
It was like being escorted to a separate room after winning a lottery. As Taichi was relieved, the receptionist started the conversation.
“How did you manage to defeat such high-rank monsters? This is your first time using the Adventurers’ Guild, right?”
(So it was an interrogation after all!!)
“Um, well…”
“First, your name!”
“Taichi Arima.”
“Your Adventurer Card!? And how about guild registration!?”
The receptionist was intensely curious, so Taichi explained that he was a tamer and that Luke had defeated the monsters.
“Ah… I didn’t realize you were a high-rank tamer… I thought it was just a legend. It’s really true… You don’t look that strong, though.”
“Ha ha ha…”
(Well, I am pretty weak…)
“Anyway, I just came to sell the materials.”
“I see. I never thought I’d find such a rare talent here. While taming is impressive, please also take care of the Adventurers’ Guild!”
The receptionist clapped her hands and placed a bag of money on the desk. It seemed to be the payment for the materials.
“Red Wolves are 100,000 Chel each, three in total. Wild Holo-holo are 130,000 Chel each. Platinum Golems are 3,000,000 Chel each. The total comes to 3,430,000 Chel.”
“Eh…”
The sheer amount left Taichi speechless. He checked the bag and found it contained three large gold coins, four gold coins, and three large silver coins. His wallet was now quite full.
“This should be more than enough for funding…!!”
“Are you going to buy some equipment or something?”
Seeing Taichi’s triumphant pose, the receptionist chuckled.
“I’m actually planning to open a fluffy cafe.”
“A fluffy cafe?”
“Yes. A cafe where you can interact with monsters…”
The receptionist looked puzzled, so Taichi smiled, realizing that fluffy cafes might not be common in this world.
It might have been easier to explain if he had a cute cat with him, but Luke was quite a large beast.
The receptionist, still thinking it over, said, “That sounds great! It would be reassuring to have a strong tamer running a cafe in the city!”
“Oh, I see.”
Indeed, in a world with monsters, city defense was crucial. Although soldiers were stationed, it was uncertain whether they could protect the city from a dragon attack…
“If you’re looking for a property, you should go to the Commercial Guild.”
“I haven’t been there before. Could you tell me where it is?”
“Sure!”
Since Taichi was clueless about business procedures, it was fortunate to get this advice here. The Commercial Guild on the main street handles all business-related procedures.
“I’ll definitely let you know when the fluffy cafe is up and running.”
“Really!? Please do!”
And with that, Taichi secured his first customer. Although he anticipated a challenging path, he felt more excited about the journey ahead.
