Another World Fluffy Cafe

Ch7 - The Tamer Guild

Chapter 7: The Tamer Guild

An issue arose quickly.

“That large of a dog won’t be accommodated at our inn! Please find somewhere else.”

“Alright…”

Despite the recommendation, the inn refused to accept them due to Luke’s large size. It was disappointing, as the inn had a calm atmosphere.

“Well then, what should we do…”

“Honestly, it’s unacceptable that they can’t provide a place for me to sleep!” Luke huffed.

Tachi and Luke walked through the city, discussing their options. The occasional glances they received were probably due to Luke’s size.

(We also need to find some work.)

Tachi needed to save up for the capital required to open the fluff café. Unfortunately, his wallet alone wasn’t sufficient.

(Should I look for a part-time job somewhere, or get a job through the Tamer Guild?)

As he pondered, Luke asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Oh, look at that sign! It says ‘Tamer Guild!’”

Tachi had spotted the Tamer Guild while heading to the inn but hadn’t realized there was a guild for professions. It might be worth inquiring here.

(They might even be able to recommend inns that accept large magical beasts like Luke!)

“Let’s stop by! They might be able to offer us some advice.”

“Understood.”

The Tamer Guild was a small building, with only a receptionist present and no other patrons in sight.

(Oh no, could it be deserted…?)

Despite a cold sweat running down his back, Tachi had no choice but to enter. The receptionist looked at them with a happy expression. She was a young girl with light blue hair and pink eyes, appearing to be in her late teens, quite young compared to Tachi, who was 28.

“Welcome! Wow, that’s a large wolf… I’ve never seen one before; it must be a high-rank magical beast!”

“Hello. This is Luke, a Fenrir.”

As Tachi introduced Luke, the receptionist’s eyes widened in surprise and she laughed.

“Hehe, you’re quite an interesting person. Fenrirs were last sighted centuries ago; nowadays, they’re considered legendary beasts!”

(Whoa!?)

Tachi hadn’t anticipated such a reaction, causing his smile to falter.

(That’s right, the gatekeepers referred to Luke as a wolf-type monster, not a Fenrir…)

While Tachi didn’t intend to hide Luke’s true nature, if Fenrirs are viewed as legendary creatures, it might be better to describe him as a variant wolf.

Feeling anxious about the sudden revelation, Tachi’s heart raced.

“Is this your first time at this guild?”

“Yes… Actually, I just came from a remote mountain village and don’t have any identification.”

“Understood! In that case, registering with the Tamer Guild will serve as your identification.”

Tachi’s face relaxed at this helpful information. He couldn’t stay without any identification.

“Please. I’m Taichi Arima, a Tamer.”

“Great! I’m the receptionist, Shalty. Nice to meet you!”

Shalty took out a registration form and placed it on the counter.

“Please fill this out.”

The form had sections for name, age, tamed creatures, skills, and remarks.

“Name and age… One tamed wolf named Luke. Skills and remarks…”

“Hey, don’t just call me a wolf! I am a proud Fenrir!”

“…It can’t be helped. You’re considered a legendary creature now.”

“Hmph… Well, it’s not entirely wrong to call me legendary.”

Despite his grumbling, Luke seemed pleased and wagged his tail happily.

(This tsundere…)

Shalty watched Tachi and Luke with a smile and pointed to the remaining sections.

“Skills are optional. Some people prefer not to disclose them. As for remarks, you can mention what kind of work you’re interested in or any information you want to provide to the guild. Typically, most jobs involve using your tamed creatures to fight monsters.”

“I see…”

Listing skills allows one to be assigned suitable tasks.

(If I list skills like [Cooking], I might get requests related to cooking…?)

He pondered this, but since such skills are common among Tamers, they might not be useful for other professions. Also, he didn’t want to list his unique skills, which were clearly overpowered.

“Oh, I think this will be fine.”

Tachi filled in [Healing] and [Curing] as his skills. This way, he could help those in need of healing. He also noted his plan to open a fluff café in the remarks section, to avoid unexpected adventure requests.

“Wow, you have healing skills! It’s rare to find someone with those, so it’s very helpful… And a café?”

“Yes! I’m not good with fighting or rough work, so I want to open a café. But not just any café—a place where you can interact with cute, fluffy magical beasts!”

“A café with fluffies…”

Tachi tried to explain his concept with enthusiasm, but Shalty didn’t seem to fully understand.

(Hmm, it seems like there isn’t anything like a cat café in this world.)

It might be difficult to get the fluff café up and running quickly.
