Ch30 - Adventurers' Guild Master
Chapter 30: Adventurers’ Guild Master
The Adventurers’ Guild had been in a flurry due to the appearance of a disaster-level monster, the Cerberus—but it has now vanished.
The adventurer who was on watch had fainted, leaving no clue about what happened.
“Oh, really, it’s nowhere to be found,” said the guild master, Himeri. “It must have either been defeated in battle or escaped somewhere with injuries.”
“That’s likely, but we need to confirm it,” another adventurer added. “We have to be thorough.”
They searched the forest where the Cerberus was last seen, thinking it might be hiding somewhere, but they found no trace of it.
“Well, the guild master herself went out to confirm, and it seems to be safe,” said another adventurer. An official notification was already sent out based on the results of their investigation. However, the guild master took the extra step to check personally.
The result was as expected.
Himeri sighed deeply.
“Let’s head back to the guild, Lady Himeri,” one of the staff suggested.
“Yes. I’ll take a slight detour before heading back, so you go ahead,” Himeri replied.
As Himeri watched the staff leave, she kicked a nearby small stone in frustration. The stone hit a nearby monster, revealing a few ogres.
“Oh no,” Himeri muttered, feeling exasperated.
“I guess I’ll just have to go to the Fluffy Café, have a treat with the Berry Rabbits, and get some relaxation!”
Himeri readied her staff and used a spell.
“It’s your misfortune to meet me! Cyclone!”
With those words, a powerful wind swirled around her, forming a fierce tornado that charged at the three ogres!
As expected of the guild master, Himeri’s magic was overwhelming—far superior to any ordinary mage.
“Now then, I’ll head back to town.”
The ogres were torn apart by the tornado and vanished without a trace.
When Himeri opened the door to the Fluffy Café, she was greeted with the usual bright voice of Taichi.
“Welcome!”
“Hello!”
“Oh, Himeri. Is everything alright with your busy schedule?”
The soothing tone of Taichi’s voice was a relief to Himeri, who had been irritated by the disappearing Cerberus.
“I’m fine now! I’m here to enjoy the Berry Rabbits and—”
Himeri’s words faltered as she froze.
“What’s wrong? Oh, this is our new member, Pino, Chloro, and Noor. Please get along with them,” Taichi said, lifting up the black fluffy Cerberus with three heads.
“Woof!”
“Wow!”
“Wuff!”
A creature with three faces and one body—such a monster could only be a Cerberus.
“Oh, right. What would you like to drink?”
“……Tea. Hot.”
“Got it.”
As Taichi went to prepare the drink, wondering about Himeri’s sudden stiffness, she took a deep breath and focused on the three-headed Cerberus at her feet.
“It really is a Cerberus!”
The painstaking search through the forest now felt pointless, as everything could have been solved if she had come to the Fluffy Café earlier.
“But it was before opening hours…”
In any case, it was too late to dwell on what had passed.
Himeri relaxed and crouched in front of the three-headed dog—Cerberus.
The Cerberus was not a wild beast but a tamed familiar.
Himeri gently reached out to pet the Cerberus, which rubbed happily against her hand. The black fur was soft and fluffy, and Himeri’s expression melted with pleasure.
“Oh, wow, this fluffiness feels amazing!”
The Berry Rabbits were great, but Cerberus was even fluffier. It was bound to attract many admirers.
Moreover, being only 30 centimeters long, it lacked the fierce appearance of its larger form. Instead, its innocent eyes were endearing, evoking a strong desire to protect it.
As Himeri continued to enjoy petting Cerberus, she pondered about Taichi’s true nature.
It seemed impossible for an ordinary adventurer to tame a disaster-level monster without world-class skill.
Yet Taichi ran a relaxed Fluffy Café.
From what she had gathered, there was no indication of any sinister intent.
“What kind of person is he, really?”
Himeri wondered aloud, but she also considered that it might be worth lending a hand from behind the scenes if Taichi ever needed help. The thought lingered in her mind.
