Ch29 - The Adventurers' Realization
Chapter 29: The Adventurers’ Realization
At the Mofu Mofu Café, the feeding time for the magical creatures coincides with the café’s opening. Consequently, more customers have started arriving right when the café opens.
However, most of them are regulars.
The doorbell jingled, and the usual trio of adventurers walked in.
“Welcome! It’s usually in the evening after adventuring that you come by, but today you’re early,” Taichi greeted them.
Grees showed a tired expression. “Actually, we had an emergency summons early this morning and have been working non-stop since. Well, we’re just going to head home and sleep, but I thought I’d catch the feeding time before heading back.”
“I see… Thank you for your hard work.”
(Being summoned so early in the morning—sounds like my old job, doesn’t it?)
No, since I died and transferred to another world, it would be my former workplace… Perhaps black companies exist in every world, Taichi thought, shaking his head.
He understood well the desire to be comforted by something fluffy during such times.
“Oh, by the way. Since you come here often, would you like to try feeding them? …But it’s a secret from others.”
“Really!?”
“Yay!”
“—!!”
Grees, Nina, and Aruru each showed delighted reactions. Aruru remained silent but seemed intrigued.
“Starting today, we’ve added a new member, so the amount of food has increased.”
“Oh, it’s great that there are more fluffies!”
“Yes! Come here, Pino, Chloro, Noll.”
“Woof!”
When Taichi called the Cerberus, it ran over happily and jumped onto Taichi, licking his cheek.
“Eh!”
Grees and the others were astonished by the sight.
They moved a little away from Taichi, who was preoccupied with the Cerberus, and whispered to each other.
“That dog…? Why does it have three heads?”
“The Cerberus that suddenly disappeared this morning had three heads too, right…?”
“Normally, you don’t see monsters with three heads!”
The reason Grees and the others were urgently summoned by the Adventurers’ Guild early in the morning was that the Cerberus they had seen in the ruins had vanished.
They had received information that a large wolf-type monster was fighting it, but since the adventurers had lost consciousness during the battle, no one knew the outcome.
Therefore, they were investigating whether the Cerberus had moved somewhere. — In the end, no one was able to find it.
The adventurers’ guild could only conclude that it was likely defeated by the strong wolf.
Knowing this, Grees and the others arrived at the conclusion that, despite its small size of thirty centimeters, it might be the Cerberus due to its three heads.
“Could it be that it’s the offspring of the Cerberus from the ruins…?”
Grees hypothesized, and Nina imagined further possibilities.
“The Cerberus must have been guarding its offspring in the ruins!”
“…When you think about it that way, it makes sense. The Cerberus fought the wolf to protect its offspring… perhaps.”
“That’s it!”
“That’s right!”
It was possible that Taichi, who happened to pass by, tamed the Cerberus without knowing it was a young one.
“Still, taming a Cerberus’s offspring… is that even possible?”
“Hmm. I always thought Tamers were an underappreciated job… but Taichi seems quite remarkable. He has many summoned creatures.”
Although Aruru was troubled, Nina seemed to believe in Taichi.
“Well, as long as the monster is tamed, it’s safe. It’s cute, and we… didn’t notice anything.”
“Yes. Just a cute dog with three heads.”
“Even if it’s a Cerberus’s offspring, once it’s tamed, there’s nothing we can do about it.”
It was decided that the Cerberus was safe.
With that, their hushed discussion concluded.
“Are you done with your discussion?”
Taichi had finished preparing breakfast while Grees and the others were talking. He prepared carrots and strawberries for the Berry Rabbits, meat and vegetables for Luke, and a fruit assortment for the Cerberus.
Initially, he had prepared meat, but the Cerberus preferred fruit.
“Oh! Sorry, we’re good now.”
“No problem. As adventurers, there are things you can’t always talk about.”
Taichi, unaware that they were discussing him, smiled and handed the plates with carrots and strawberries to the adventurers, signaling the start of mealtime.
“Here you go, Luke, Pino, Chloro, Noll! Time for breakfast.”
“Finally, mealtime!”
Luke eagerly rushed to the meat and devoured it heartily. Truly magnificent.
The Cerberus, on the other hand, took its time savoring the food.
“Wow! This apple is delicious~”
“What kind of fruit is this? But it’s yummy~”
“Food tastes great when we all eat together~!”
(So lively!)
Although only one Cerberus had been added, its three heads made the atmosphere three times as lively.
Right beside them, Grees and the others called the Berry Rabbits over, setting their food plates. The rabbits, already in battle mode, dashed towards the plates. Their tiny mouths working hard to eat were extremely adorable.
With the Cerberus added, the Mofu Mofu Café remained peaceful today.
