Ch19 - Furry Friends
Chapter 19: Furry Friends
“Wow, I didn’t know a place like this opened up here!”
When Taichi invited Himeli to the Furry Cafe, she looked around the interior with delight. She immediately began to gently pet the Berry Rabbits, clearly enjoying herself. The Berry Rabbits seemed to have a friendly disposition towards everyone so far, being affectionate with anyone who came near.
On the other hand, Luke, who was not very friendly to anyone, was still part of the Furry Cafe’s charm.
The cafe was still two hours away from opening.
Luke had immediately settled into a bean bag and started his nap—although it was not actually lunchtime yet.
“Wow, amazing…! There are one, two… ten Berry Rabbits!? And since Luke is here, there are eleven familiars in total!? Taichi, you’re incredible!”
“Oh, haha.”
“Meow?”
Taichi was surprised that such a small thing could earn him praise, wondering how low the level of tamers was in this world. It might also be that the population of tamers was so small that they were not very well-known.
“But, it’s still before opening hours… Is it okay to come in?”
“Hmm? Oh, that’s fine. We run a relaxed operation here. Besides, since they’re monsters, hardly anyone asks to pet them. So, people who love furry creatures are always welcome… Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean to imply anything suspicious!”
Taichi was genuinely inviting Himeli as a fellow furry enthusiast, with no ulterior motives.
When he desperately tried to clarify, Himeli laughed.
“And I’m not interested in someone younger than me anyway!”
“Ahaha, Taichi, you’re funny. It’s okay, I’m actually strong myself!”
Meaning, if Taichi had had any inappropriate intentions, she would have retaliated. Taichi gulped nervously at the thought.
“You’re wearing a robe, so you must be a magician…?”
“Yes, well, I’m more of an adventurer!”
“Wow.”
Taichi thought she indeed looked quite strong. As a tamer, he knew he couldn’t try magic himself, but he was intrigued by the idea of using fire magic.
“By the way, I invited you suddenly, but was everything okay with your time and breakfast?”
“Actually, I haven’t had breakfast yet…”
“Then I’ll prepare something simple. Please wait with the Berry Rabbits.”
“Thank you!”
Taichi headed to the kitchen and began using his skills. He hadn’t bought any ingredients at the market, having spent time eating grilled meat.
“Shopping skill, activate!”
He asked the cat deity for help, writing down pasta, ready-made meat sauce, two salads, and Italian dressing on a memo.
Soon, the items would be delivered. Meanwhile, he prepared a pot of water and set out the dishes.
“I’ve created some cafe-appropriate tableware with my [Creation (Physical)] skill.”
It was all set!
Since Himeli was a girl, he might get feedback on the tableware. If there were any issues, he planned to improve it.
As the pot of water boiled, the items he ordered arrived. He paid for them and began cooking.
(Although it’s just boiling pasta and warming the sauce…)
He placed both into the pot and left them to cook. Meanwhile, he transferred the salads to plates and added the dressing.
“Oh, just putting salad on stylish plates makes it look so cafe-like.”
Next, he combined the pasta with the sauce, plated it, and added fruit water to a tray before opening the door to the cafe.
“Sorry to keep you waiting… Oh, you’re really enjoying yourself.”
“Ah!”
“Meow!”
When Taichi entered the cafe, he saw Himeli lying on a fluffy cushion and playing with the Berry Rabbits.
“Wow! I’m so sorry. These guys are just so fluffy and their fur is so beautiful… I feel bad for defeating them with magic before.”
“Meow~”
Himeli spoke to the Berry Rabbits, promising not to defeat them if she saw them in the future. Taichi silently nodded, thinking it was good if the fluffiness of the world increased on a global scale.
“Let’s eat before it gets cold. It’s simple food, but…”
“Wow, thank you! I love pasta.”
As they began to eat, Himeli’s eyes widened.
“Mmm! What is this pasta? It’s so delicious!!”
“Really? It’s just the usual stuff…”
“It’s definitely not just usual… The noodles are so chewy and the sauce is rich.”
Hearing Himeli’s comments, Taichi realized that since everything was Japanese-made, it might be considered a feast for people in this world with a lower standard of living.
(I wonder if nobles get to eat even better food?)
But since he had no intention of interacting with nobles, he wouldn’t be able to check that himself.
“I’m glad you like it. I was thinking of adding it to the snack menu.”
“That’s great! The tableware is also really cute, so it will definitely be popular!”
“Glad to hear it. I’m relieved to get your opinion.”
With Himeli’s affirmation, Taichi felt confident that the snack menu would be successful.
(I’ll update the menu later when I have some free time.)
As Taichi thought about this, he heard a “meow!” from below. It seemed the Berry Rabbits were hungry and wanted some food.
“How cute, I’ll give them some food!”
“Oh, wait! They have proper food, so give them that.”
“Really?”
Even though they were monsters, it might not be good for them to eat human food. So Taichi was giving them strawberries as their food.
“I’ll prepare it, so please wait a moment.”
