Ch20 - Munch Time
Chapter 20: Munch Time
Taichi prepared strawberries in the kitchen, arranging them on five plates. Carrying the tray back to the dining area, he found Himeli waiting eagerly.
The Berry Rabbits seemed to understand the word “food” and looked up at Taichi with twinkling eyes.
(Wow, those eyes are unfair…)
Taichi couldn’t help but be captivated by the adorable Berry Rabbits. Is there anyone who wouldn’t be enchanted by such fluffiness? Unlikely.
Seeing that the Berry Rabbits had moved from Himeli to Taichi, she sighed with a hint of disappointment.
“…Are those strawberries for them?”
“Yep. They’re hungry, so they all come to me.”
The Berry Rabbits wandered around Taichi, clearly showing their anticipation for the food.
Taichi set up the strawberry plates evenly spaced in the center of the café. This was the designated dining area for the Berry Rabbits.
The rabbits quickly gathered around the plates and started eating the strawberries with enthusiasm.
“So cute watching them eat! It’s heart-melting!”
Himeli’s eyes turned into hearts as she watched the Berry Rabbits munching away.
(I get it; no matter how many times you see this, it never gets old.)
Whether it’s watching them munch away with dedication or admiring their cute little behinds from behind, both are equally delightful.
Taichi and Himeli continued to watch in silence as the Berry Rabbits enjoyed their meal.
“…Oh! I lost track of time! I didn’t realize I was so captivated. I always thought Berry Rabbits were weak monsters, but they’re so mesmerizing!”
Himeli laughed, saying, “I understand. They’re so cute!”
“Exactly! Their little butts wiggling as they eat strawberries are incredibly adorable! I could watch them forever!!”
“I totally get that.”
Moments like these can make all the exhaustion from daily life seem worth it.
(In fact, I worked overtime just to see the cats and give them treats.)
Once the plates were empty, the Berry Rabbits scattered, full and satisfied. Many of them looked sleepy and were resting on their favorite cushions or sofas.
“Thanks for letting me stay for so long before opening. I’ll come back as a customer next time, so please take care of me.”
“No, thank you! I’m happy to have a fellow fluff enthusiast!”
With only about an hour left until the store opened, Taichi felt a sense of urgency.
“Oh, right. How much for the meal?”
“Since it wasn’t during business hours, it’s fine. The feedback you gave is the payment.”
“Got it. Thanks! If you need anything later, let me know. I may not look it, but I’m pretty strong as an adventurer!”
“That’s reassuring. I’ll definitely reach out if something comes up.”
“Sure!”
For Taichi, who had just arrived in this world, such connections were invaluable. He planned to consult Himeli if any issues arose in the future.
“See you!”
“Take care!”
After seeing Himeli off, Taichi stretched and said, “Alright, let’s get to work today!”
Inside the Café
Back inside, Taichi thought about what to do for the day.
“For snacks… I’ll stick with the pasta from earlier. It’s easy.”
Making multiple dishes at once could be overwhelming, so he decided to keep it simple.
(After all, no more black work—only white from now on!)
“I need to redo the menu. [Creation (Physical)]!”
Using his skill, Taichi added a “Meat Sauce Pasta Set” to the menu, which previously only had drinks and snacks.
“Oh? I thought it was only possible to create something from scratch, but you can also modify existing items.”
This was a major discovery.
It meant he could easily renovate the café or repair damaged parts. Additionally, he could redo things if needed. It was a relief compared to the fear of mistakes ingrained from his previous job.
“I need to restock the food supplies, so let’s take care of that. [Shopping]!”
As usual, he wrote down what was needed on the memo that appeared.
“Alright, things are going well!”
He turned the café sign to “Open” and started the day’s business.
“…Even with all this enthusiasm, customers still aren’t showing up.”
So far, only a party of three adventurers had come the previous day. No other customers had arrived yet.
In other words, it was a big deficit.
“Well, it’s expected at the start. I hope to turn a profit within a year,” Taichi thought.
He believed that the current society demanded too much early achievement.
The planting period is crucial for everything.
When Taichi finished preparing, he saw Luke getting up from the bean bag.
“Something wrong, Luke?”
“Make dragon steak. I’m hungry.”
“Oh, from the skill you made before…”
Despite a big yawn, Luke’s stomach growled loudly. The sound was surprisingly cute.
Hearing this, Taichi almost laughed but had to cover his mouth to avoid offending Luke.
“Don’t underestimate the noble Fenrir!! You’re the one who made such a delicious smell!!”
“Ah, the pasta earlier. I did let you smell it…”
“Exactly! Hurry up and make it!!”
Luke, still grumpy, urged Taichi on, though his tail wagged. Maybe he was just trying to play or was feeling left out because Taichi was talking to Himeli. Taichi smiled, thinking he might be overthinking it.
“Got it. I’ll make it right away.”
Since the ingredients were in his magical bag, he could make the dragon steak as long as he had the meat.
The otherworldly fluff café continued its peaceful day.
